  • So have moved the kids over from Kogan, the portable AP from catch, and will move my wife over from Kogan next. Kogan has been fine but for nearly 4 weeks data coverage where my wife works has been unavailable due to Voda 'planned maintenance'. So Telstra backed Belong sounds good. I like the data bank combined with the bonus data on joining that all combines to balance out the low 1gb per month allowance on $10/month plan. What I wish they would do is provide a family option to enable someone like me to manage all the services from a single account…. but other than that, so far so good. Thanks OP.

    Damn, I cant make use of this deal, my drivers licence expired, still waiting for my proof of age card to come, about 20 days away.

    So what ID is needed these days?

        With Optus on the $2 starter kit, you need to add credit (min $10) on activation, which I just found out.
        I asked a Optus rep in store about signing up to prepaid, was told I would be ok without a valid DL, as long as I have other proof (Medicare) plus a birth certificate, which I do, so…

        Aldi gives you $5 included credit, so I most likely go that way, I'm in a rush to get the $50 port credit before it expires.

      • I'm keeping my current # with Amasym, has it 350+ days & $8 credit left before it expires, so I will "park it", this way I can work out who needs to be updated with my new #. As soon as I have no need with it, I'll end it.
        I also get some scam calls & harassment from dept collectors on this #.

        I dont want to keep this #.
        So prefer not to port with this number or stuff around later with Belong, switching from 1 account to 2nd account to get a new # & closing the 1st.

  • Anyone know if you can take advantage of the $25 new number deal and the $80 sim starter kit? Also does it use the sim starter kit credit first or the $25 credit?

    Additionally does anyone know if Belong charge a number port out fee if you choose to leave? And on that point is there a list of providers that do charge that fee as im wanting to avoid those providers(ie. TPG who charge $11).

      i dont think belong charge port out fee i dont care anyway. tpg tried to charge me i just complain and they refunded it.

  • Did anyone able to change to smaller package? It is showing me 80GB now at billing cycle with $50 remaining credit.
    But plan change options in manage plan is grayed out and there is some message about that I can only change plan once a billing cycle

          Yep, it didn't show up when I created account but it showed right after porting completion. Then, I switched to $10 package after first billing date, 85GB for just $15 for 6 months, sweet!

  • I'm signing up today/28th or should I wait till Mon/30th in regards to their billing cycle, what's the difference signing up today vs Monday?
    I could wait till Mon/31st to sign up, would that get me the 120gb or have I missed out on getting 120gb?

      Let me reword it - Don't port today as it's the start of a new billing cycle and you may not get double data according to the Whirpool Wiki. You still have 3 more days after today that you can port in and use the code BYO50OFF.

      Id wait till Monday thats what im doing if you sign up on the 28th you only get a 28 day billing cycle but if you join money you get a 30 day billing cycle and the billing date is the 4th of every month if you sign up on Monday

  • I need to port from catch connect but it's not even on their list of providers to port from during the belong sign up. Has anyone had experience with what to put? I can select "don't know" but I'm not sure whether it will port successfully.

      • I ported today from Catch Connect, put 'Optus' and didn't require to enter my Catch Connect account number for my number to successfully port. It happened within a few hours.

        • I got a porting error message :( Chose optus as well but added catch connect in the account number bit.

          Just to clarify, you didn't put anything in the 'account number' box?

                        @Skinny Mocha: As far as I know, yes you only need your DOB to port from a prepaid service. If postpaid, then you need the account number. The last invoice you received from Catch Connect should have the account number, if it is postpaid. I have never been with Catch Connect so not sure myself :)

    I'm going to port in on Monday too so my bill cycle will be the 4th each month.
    On Monday I will port into large plan using the code and get
    40gb and $50 credit.
    Will get charged $40.
    Remaining balance: 40 +50-40 =50
    On the 4th Jan I will get charged $0 but get another 40gb.
    Only after the 4th I can change my plan to small.
    On the 4th Feb I will get charged $10 and get 1gb.
    And so on….

      Do you think I can get $50 credits by using a Belong sim (no credits) to port in? $40 charged will be deducted from $50 credit. Can it work this way? Of course data getting will be less.

  • Bought a $40 sim from coles for $20 (paid $5 more I know)
    Just before porting this morning, I noticed that the sim was made in May 2018. I thought what the heck!

    Started the porting process from optus at 8am this morning. Used the BYO50off. Got $50 credit. Porting was complete in half an hour

    So glad I made use of the $50 credit offer.

      They didn't ask for any ID as I was porting from optus prepaid and it wasn't a new service

  • I ported today and applied BYO50OFF code which was accepted. My service is activated now but now when I go to payment screen I can't see $50 credit. Is that normal? Will I see that only after my first billing date which is 4th Jan? I was with belong till last week, ported out last week and ported in today.

      You shall see $50 being applied during the activation process. After you login if you click on manage or payment (can't remember which one exactly), you will see next payment due on 4 Feb. Then remaining credits $10. This indicated that $50 credits will be used against 4 Feb bill. $10 remaining credits is after $40 being deducted on 4 Feb. Hope this helps.

      • Thanks for reply. I could see $50 credit during activation but after activation was finished when I went to payment screen I couldn't see $50 credit anymore. Someone earlier mentioned that it will take some time to appear that, hence the question.

        • I didn't use this promotion. But I have used referral promo code in the past, I don't recall $20 credits (referral credits) ever shown under the payment section. I asked Belong about it and was told $20 wouldn't show, but could see $20 would be applied against the next bill. Also if you click on history, can you see $50 there? Referral promo credits of $20 shows under history.

    • Same problem here. Put the BYO50OFF code in and it said it was accepted ok, but the credit was not applied to the account. I did a different number port last week and it worked fine and shows up under history so it's possible they have stopped the code early?

        Maybe it takes a day or 2 to update?

        Update: Just signed up now, shows promo code worked.
        Got email about it processing port.

    Porting successful, within 10 min, that was quick.
    Hoping all goes well with the 120gb, I will drop to the $10 once that's done.

        I took screen shots during the process as well.
        Logged in to today and it shows "Cyber Sale - BYO Customers - credited $50" under Service history.
        I havent used anything from my credits yet ($90), signed up on large/40gb plane.

                @Arther, I'm still trying to get it tethered to my laptop, but I'm very sure it's nothing to do with belong sim, but me doing something wrong or a setting that I'm missing.
                I see my phone listed in internet/wifi/connections settings & can enter its password, but fails to connect.
                Could be that I didnt set the sharing options, so you also need this turned on also?

                Any ideas?

                  @OrbDaggerZ: Why not just turn on personal hotspot on your phone. Then your phone will show up as one of available networks on your computer. Key in password and connect.

                    It's my 1st time tethering.

      • When you applied the code, what happened? Did it mention that you would get $50 credit?
      • Can you tell us how you learned about the BYO50OFF code?

      Not sure if I'll become ineligible for the offer based on my response

      Did you have to answer the same questions above?

      I'm also curious how the OP found out about this offer

        • Yes, but don't think it will help as I've compared the screenshot to a couple of friends who recently ported over using the same code.

          My screenshot looks different, e.g. the Belong website shows 'promo works' after applying the code, but a friend's screenshot of the website shows '$50 once off credit' after applying the promo code.

          When signing up I recall cancelling then reapplying the code a second time (because the promo code box came back red), both times with the same message above, eventually continued through to payment and confirmation anyway, as I wasn't sure there was a real problem.

          I have a feeling it's either the different sim card production/manufacturing dates or the store of purchase causing the issue.

          The two sims that worked were produced in 2017 purchased at Coles.

          My sim was produced in 2019 purchased at Woolies.

          • @JonSnow: Yes, I had exactly the same issue with my porting and had the same "promo code works" message, but no $50 credit.

            I am being asked the same questions by Beyond support and I also took a screenshot. Also now being told this code was only valid for the first 1000 users and has now been consumed, thing is I know people who succesfully got the credit after me.

            I must say I am getting irritated that Beyond are questioning the validity of my request for $50 credit. It is their code, I applied it and they ported my number. Their system didn't apply it, I have sent them a screenshot.

            IMO, I should get the $50 credit.

They emailed me saying “I'd like you to know that the $50 credit will only be given to the first One Thousand(1000) costumers that will port their number from another service provider to Belong. We've already reached the maximum number of customers eligible to receive the credit and each customers had been sent a certain email in regards to the $50 credits. I wanna know, do you have the email? Will you send me a clear screenshot copy of it?”
              Has anyone received this kind of email? I already told them I didn’t receive any email about $50 credit. I feel so annoyed with their customer care. You can only contact them via emails and it took ages for them to reply and keep asking the same questions and I had to repeat myself a few times and still nothing resolved.

              • @whaleshome: I also submitted a support ticket about not getting the $50- credit after it clearly stated it applied during the signup stages. And I did this around 12th December, they also saying that was limited to 1000 people. But seems some others had success after this date?
                I will follow this up though, I would have just used a referral code had I at least known it was expired.

    • I ported 2 services on 31 Dec. One was done under 10 mins and the 2nd service got done overnight.

  • I've still been trying to port my number to Belong since 30/12. The $50 credit applied when I activated the new sim but due to their delays, it obviously won't apply anymore. Belong customer service is appalling. They have the gall to invoice me on 12/1 when I still haven't been ported to them and numerous efforts to contact them has been to no avail. I was a previous customer with them and switched to another service and now trying to switch back to them so they have my details. It's annoying that you can only submit service requests and not be able to talk to them instantaneously to try and sort the problem out.
