How did you know the simcard had expired? I had a look at mine and couldn't find any expiry date.

They must print the phone imei on the SIM package... Links the SIM to the phone I guess?

the IMEI is on both the phone box and sim package.

the IMEI should be on the Vodafone sim package stuck to the iphone box, so you should be able to check without opening the box

you might have gotten lucky! Pop your IMEI number in the Vodafone unlock page and see if it comes up as "Unlocked"

yeah, everything else works, as long as you don't have a unsupported sim inserted.
