Google Pixel 9 Pro 128GB $147 ($1550 off) with JB Hi-Fi Mobile $99/M 24M SIM Plan (New/Port-in Customer, in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

200

$99/M 24M SIM Plan with new number.

Signed up to 128GB Pixel Pro and paid $147 Upfront, then cancelled via the app when I got home.

Total payout $799.92 + $147 = $946.92.

Apparently according to the person, it works with the 256GB as well, but obviously a larger Upfront payment required of $297.

Total payout $799.92 + $297 = $1096.92

GV cannot be taken seperately comes straight off the phone.

Note: this does not work on the XL or standard Pixel 9 as they are on sale atm for outright anyway.

Just checking if we can use it for the TRS at the airport??

        • yes, i got the Full invoice with GST amount, they included other details on manual receipt for TRS claim.

I suppose this for people that don't like the larger phone format, plus they don't have to wait months to drive down the price?

  • So you walk out of this with the phone and no plan right?

    • +1

      Correct.

      • +1

Awesome might do this today, thanks for the find!

  • Can anyone explain this: "GV cannot be taken seperately comes straight off the phone." please?
    Do you get any giftcard?

    • The voucher brings the upfront cost of the phone down to $147.

  • Can you pay the cancellation fee using a credit card ???

  • How do you cancel via the app? In my case it did not give me an option. The only was to cancel was to go in store or call up a 13XXXX number. I called up the number and cancelled it for me.
I also had a bit of a drama with my number not getting provisioned for 10 days but they had handed me the phone upfront. I had to chase them up multiple times to get it sorted.

    • It's via some sort of live chat. I can't remember exactly, but it's under help - chat with us or something like that. Takes about 10 mins

      • Got it. Thanks. I thought it was some kind of an option to cancel the plan directly.

Sorry for my stupidity but what does GV stand for.

  • Next questions, how does this work? Do you have to buy a GV then apply/sign up to this deal/phone & plan?

    • Forget that, I see the details on the JB mobile plans page. I'm really keen to purchase the 256g version but am confused about the cancellation fee. Why does it amount to $799.92?

If the total payout amount of $799.92 come from a 8 month payout when cancelling the plan?

      • On the Critical Information Summary, it says:

        Can I cancel my plan?
Yes, you can cancel your plan at any time by calling us on 13 50 75 or visiting a JB Hi-Fi store. When you cancel, your service will be disconnected immediately. We won’t refund any money you’ve already paid and you’ll need to pay out any remaining Voucher Repayment Fee.

        And:

        Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee $800

I'm not quite sure why it's $799.92 and not $800, I assume that's some pro rata weirdness.

        • Great thank you Jykaes, I didn't see the maximum payout amount on the C.I.S.

Is the phone locked to Telstra, or can you use other networks on it after cancelling?

    • I would also like to know this.

    • The phone is Unlocked.

    • t that price point , unlocked I'd say .

  • Total payout $799.92 + $147 = $946.92.

There's a good chance you'll also need to pay $99 for the first month too.

    • +1

Yeah I'm thinking this too, but maybe if you don't ever activate the SIM because you're immediately cancelling, that's why the $99 isn't charged? Even if it is, this is still a good deal if you don't want an XL.

    • +1

Update, I just bought one. Yes, the first $99 automatically comes out, couldn't avoid it. On the plus side, because you've paid a month already, the pro rata cancellation fee is a little less, $766. So my total cost was $147 outright phone, $99 first month, $766 to cancel. The $766 hasn't come out yet but it's been processed on the portal and I got a cancellation email so I'm sure it will soon.

      • Thank you for your sacrifice 🙏

May the bargain be ever in your favour.

        • I'll rest a little easier when the cancellation fee comes out and it's fully settled, but I cancelled in a Telstra store (Just worked out the most convenient as I was running an errand past one anyway) and they showed me on their portal that $766.66 was owing, and would be charged within the next 10 business days. Then I got a JB Hifi Mobile email cancellation confirmation saying I had nothing more to do about a minute later.

Apparently if you do it through the app it's immediate but I didn't even activate the SIM before I cancelled, heh.

  • Just out of curiosity can you pay the cancellation fee with an Ultimate Gift Cards??

  • I see the T & C's it states need to port-in and new customers. Does this mean you can sign up with a new account/number so I don't need to transfer my current phone number? Or do you need to switch my current number.

    • You can get a new number

      • Ok thanks

  • Just wondering what's the upfront payment for the 512GB model?

    • $297 as stated by b0cky54 in the post

      • That's for a 256gb model. I'm assuming it will be more for 512gb?

        • My bad, sorry urluv4u

        • $497 for the 512 Model -> 2047 (price of the phone) - 1550 the dc

        • Not sure but as its a $1550 GV, I'm guessing $2047 - $1550 = $497

  • Good deal. I would like to see the cis / t&c though m can you scan them op? I'm just scared of fees lol

last time it was 1700$ off😢

  • +1

I just did this. Your maths is a little wrong, but overall yes it works.

For the 128 GB 9 Pro it's $147 outright, you automatically get charged the first month at $99, but then because you're a month in, you pay 23/24ths of the Maximum Voucher Repayment fee, which is only $766.66. So total cost is $1012.66.

    • Hi Jykaes

When you cancelled did you do it over the phone or live chat?

      For the 256gb version would it be $297 + $100 + $766 for a total of $1163

      • I Just did it. Correct on when they set you up they take the initial $99 out on the spot. I did it via live chat.

        • Great thanks, and did you pay the $766 over live chat also

        • Sorry for all the questions but am going to do this for me and my partner and don't want to screw it up.

Was that the live chat on the JB hifi website or Telstra website?

  • They send you an invoice for the 766.
Also, you may try your luck to request the $99 be waived off and credited back by requesting an agent, since you did not use the service

    • What does it say on the invoice?? Full price of the phone??

Just checking if we can use it for the TRS claim at the airport??

      • No, just the price of cancelling the plan, which is $766.66. The invoice on Telstra's end has nothing to do with the phone itself, in effect, you bought the phone outright with $147 in cash and $1550 in JB gift card from JB. They even literally grabbed a gift card off the shelf, added the balance to it, swiped it and redeemed it in front of me.

So you'll have a receipt from JB for the phone at RRP paid $147 in cash and $1550 in gift card (if 128 GB), and then an invoice from Telstra for $99 and $766.66.

        • I am not sure how you are getting 766.66, but below is what i got when i cancelled the service with Telstra
A ETC or non return fee will be charged to you on your next invoice for the amount of $799.92, do you accept this?

          • @vbhaven: I got charged $99 for the first month, it was unavoidable. So $766.66 is 23/24ths of $800, that's how Telstra came to that figure.

If you managed to avoid the first month charge, lucky you! Myself and another guy elsewhere in the comments here couldn't swing that one, it was automatically charged at setup.

            • @Jykaes: they did tell me that, but i was not charged could be as i have and active telstra account the billing cycle was going to be 5th Dec

              • @vbhaven: Yeah, unsure. I have an existing Boost account, so technically not Telstra but they could see it through the portal. I thought I had gotten away without the $99 charge because I didn't activate the SIM, but when I checked my bank later, the $99 was pending to the card already associated in the Telstra portal for my Boost SIM. It may have been possible to stuff around and try and get them to waive it, but to be honest, considering I just saved $684.34, I'm not too upset about the $65.74.

      • +1

Yes you can, as it show the amount is paid via Gift card 1550 and rest how every you pay (I paid with 10% off ultimate gift cards with i bought form Big W last week)

  • Does this work for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold?
