Been waiting for this after selling my CV1. I feel it's the most well priced VR headset on the market currently, especially for it's tracking.
Vader Immortal Oculus Quest Bundle is also available.

Buy a new Meta Quest headset from any retailer and both referee and referrer will get A$47 in Meta Quest Store credit once the headset is activated.
Any experience with kids using these?
I was looking at getting one for my kids (12 and 9 but for me too).
Unsure how well it will fit a kids head - is it too heavy, is pupil distance an issue etc?
I was leaning to the Quest at this point
Dunno if anyone has any feedback?
My kids have PSVR and is perfectly fine (same ages). Have just purchased the Quest. Will fire it up on the weekend and let you know (PM if I forget if you want)
I have the Rift and the kids use it every second day. Only issue is the strap over the top of thier head doesnt adjust enough for it to fit the kids heads properly. Problem solved by bunching the strap up with a peg.
EDIT I'm not sure if the strap setup on the Rift S is different to OG retail Rift.
First impressions:
It doesn't fit that well on a childs head. Even with the straps at it's tightest it is still a bit loose. But they managed to still play.
Get ready to fork out a lot of coin for games. They aren't cheap.
Make sure you activate the Quest before the Vadar Immortal promo expires. The kids loved playing it (albeit very short trilogy)
Think a decent PC is needed to make full use out of the hardware. As the games are good from the Oculus library, but are quite limited compared to the stuff on Steam VR.
The 'Guardian' safety measure is superb. Ie. you shouldn't be knocking into the walls once setup.
Great Price!
Bought from Amazon a few months ago, would still recommend 100% if you only play PCVR.
Consider Oculus Quest if you:
- don't have a capable PC
- need the hardware IPD adjustment (rift S is fixed at 64.5 mm, I have 69 mm and I am fine)
- greatly value the portability (mind that Quest + Link has worse image quality and comfort, compared to the Rift S), so really no point getting Quest if you play PCVR 100% of the time
Index is indeed a better PCVR headset, but it would cost 3x at the moment (if you buy from the US via a shipping forwarder). You would need a beast of PC to make full use of the resolution and refresh rate, and personally I don't think it is worth the money buying from the US.
Ps. Adding the Vive headstrap to the Quest makes it extremely comfortable
Can anyone comment on the input lag when using the Quest + link cable for PC gaming? I'm only interested in PC VR gaming and the talk of input lag puts me off the Quest. So am leaning towards the Rift S.
It's definitely the S for you then.
Damn, just bought one from Amazon for $630 :/
If sold and shipped by Amazon, return it free of charge.
Hmm, can't toss up between the Odyssey +, Rift S or Quest…
My IPD is 70, so it would be nice to have a physical IPD adjust…but the tracking on both the Rift S and Quest is supposedly so much better…
Worth forking out the $650 for the quest + link cable as an upgrade over the Lenovo Explorer?
Well, looks like amazon hasn't matched so I bought from oculus directly.
Should’ve at least waited till midnight
Amazon just dropped to $635
Now at $568
So what accessories are a must-buy for the Rift S? I was thinking some replacement face pads because those pads will get icky real quick when you sweat into it.
And perhaps these straps that mimic the design of the Knuckles controoler.
Deal still available for $569 today on oculus website but…….
Oculus Rift S is a PC only VR headset
Oculus Quest is not and is a stand alone wireless device
There is software to make the quest work on PC using vridge riftcat, I also see an article about oculus link software and using Oculus Quest on a PC…
Reason why quest isn’t discounted? Just a thought
Reason why quest isn’t discounted?
Because it's newer and selling well….
quest is more expensive because it has more hardware, the rift s is quite expensive for what you get.
i went with the rift s because in every review the rift s is regarded as a better performing device and more comfortable. if i want mobile VR (which i dont) i could just get the samsung vr for my phone.
honestly at this point the Quest is a better buy… standalone and can be used with a PC…
