Meta is once again doing their double Quest Cash holiday promotion. Applies to all newly purchased Meta Quest VR headsets and purchases can be made from any store. Doesn't apply to refurbished or second hand items.

Simply activate headset via a referral link and get $94 to use on the Meta game store. Both referrer and referee receive the $94. Great for any new users getting a Quest headset for Christmas.

      You could always go onto the chat with Meta Support and ask them if they can apply the promo. Sometimes they will just credit the difference.

      Yes, just make a Meta account now. Then click on the random referral generator above and use the link provided to accept the referral.

      Then when you activate your headset (by linking it to your account) you'll get the bonus game credit.

        How does this work again myself and son will be owners of quest 3 tomorrow and obviously looking to get that credit to our account both him and I have accounts just not set up headsets yet which will be tomorrow.
        What’s the steps process again to do this I believe its double credit until 31st dec.

          It's for new accounts only so if you already have an existing Meta Account won't work as per their T&Cs here
          One adds the referral code upon account sign up and then when one registers the device, the referral credit will be applied to both parties.

            @Borg: My device is not used yet? I only have a meta account to purchase games in advance I never opened up a new account but used my Facebook account the referral I am asking about is when you register your device for first time.
            And i believe it’s double at this time?

              @bwatt72: Thing is, you do have a Meta Account now i.e. you have being buying games on it. Ideally you would use a Referral Link which takes you to a Sign up page after-which the Referral would now be linked to your account. Once you register your device, it will pick up that referral.

              Perhaps somebody else here could confirm this is the case (or not).

              Other: You could also contact Meta. If what I am saying is correct, you could ask them to apply a Referral code as you neglected to do so prior to buying the device and were just getting the ball rolling to buy Games in advance?

                @Borg: Meta has made it so you can only get the referral credit once per account. So if you've already activated a headset on an account you won't get the referral credit again on that account.

                But for someone who hasn't already activated a headset, the process is:

                1 - Setup a Meta Account
                2 - Accept a referral link (from random link up above, or from a friend)
                3 - Buy a headset
                4 - Activate the headset to the Meta Account setup in step 1

                It's when you activate you then get the game credit on your account.

    I activated my quest 3 on 12th November.
    I jumped on chat and they've credited me an extra $50 on top of my original $47.
    I haven't logged in to check if it's come through yet.

        Yeah they only wanted to give $30 to start with, although they may have been talking $30usd as I was asked what currency I prefer later on.
        I just acted a little unhappy and told them my 'friend' in the same situation got $47.

      Luckily I was starting fresh so just used my other email address and a fresh meta account.

      If you're accepting referral with an existing meta account, it seems like you're ineligible. According to their referrals info page

      The friend that you refer must be a new Meta Quest user and must create a new account in order to receive the credit.

      Just tried to accept referral and got the same error. Don't think I've ever accepted a referral in the past though 🤔 so maybe they're applying some other criteria to existing meta accounts based on prior usage?

      I received my referral (all be it the regular amount) and made my purchase through Amazon. Still trying with on line agent to get my referral credit doubled. Appears to be difficult at this stage.

          You can do via your Meta account (on PC) without device.

          You also need to accept one of the random referrals from the link above to be eligible. And you need to do it before you activate your headset. You then get the Quest Cash on your account on activation.

      Are you a referrer or referee? You get them once the headset is activated to the same account the referral was given to.

    Unclaimed Referrals. I by chance opened Meta app on my tablet as ages since I used it. I click on referrals settings and there were 2 x $47 ones there to be claimed (which I just did so a nice $94 added to my account). Wish I knew while sale was on! I didn't realise that one had to accept them and are not auto added. Is that normal?

    Might be worthwhile checking your own just in case you have any. I didn’t get notified so pure chance that I stumbled upon my two.

      Yes that's how the referral system works. They sit in your account under "Referrals" until you redeem them. I don't actually know how long you've got to redeem, but once you do you have 12 months to use the credit. You can check in your wallet by clicking "Quest Cash" then the small arrow next to "Total Balance" for a list of total credits redeemed and when they expire.

        Thanks for confirming. No idea how long they were there as doesn't provide any info.
        I should ask Meta how long we have to redeem as I have never checked that area so may well have had many others that have since disappeared!. Shame they that they don't notify you when one is received. Perhaps they are hoping one forgets to claim and they expire???

          It would definitely be good to know when they expire if you actually haven't redeemed them. I know if you're lucky enough to go over the $940 referral limit then anything else from that year will become accessible the following year (so you don't actually loose those referrals).

      From memory you can't use referral credit to Gift Games.

      Update/Correction: I have "Quest Cash" from referrals in my account and just tested "Gifting" a game. It works fine and allows one to select "Quest Cash" as MOP. Nice.

      One note though: Your new account would need a "Device" prior to allowing you to refer i.e. If you have a Meta Quest device, you can invite a friend …

      Can you clarify what you're trying to do?

      There's a difference to giving a referral link and receiving a referral link.

      If your friend is buying a headset then of course you can give them a referral link and you will both get the $94 referral credit. You can give your referral link to as many people as you want, up to $940 per year.

      But you can only receive a referral link once per account. So if you already own a headset you won't get the referral credit for buying another headset.

    Got onto chat but they want referrers name email and username.
    Anyone have any advice?

      Look through your browser history for the referral link which contains the username.

      Will be a starting point to try to look for the user on ozbargain.

      You can call or email Meta. Perhaps not having a headset setup in your account prior to accepting a referral caused the issue OR are you saying that you setup your headset using a referral given to you by someone else?
      Either way speak to Meta they will sort…unless you already had an existing account as one can only receive a referral link once per account.

        I don’t have another account and I don’t have a device but I do now Xmas gift.
        I did a referral on here and I excepted it and never took it further as it was late and headset was wrapped up.
        I open the device today and and added it but no $94 credit.
        Just been on. Chat to meta and they said I had no referral in my account lol and now I have already set up my headset.
        I asked to be credited but was not having it the need the other person’s into which I don’t have maybe just a name.
        Not sure what went wrong here but I’m fuming that they are playing hard with this $94

      You could try a different referral link. But if you have already accepted a link in the past, you can't accept another one. The one you accepted in the past stays active for 90 days, so even if you accepted it a few months ago it stays active and connected to your account until you activate a headset.

    I don’t get this so I’ve gotta have a meta headset already to sign into that to be able to send a referral link to be able to get the credit so someone who has a already meta account can’t just send me a referral link if they don’t have a headset correct as that’s what I’m reading on the website.
    As we just sold the quest 2 as we missed out last time on the referral but want to get a quest 3 but wanting to get referal deal. Please help

      The steps are pretty simple. It's only one referral activation per account. So if you've already activated a headset with a referral on your account and you got the Quest Cash then you won't get it a second time.

      But as mentioned above, if you've never done that then all you need to do is:

      1 - Log into your Meta Account
      2 - Accept a referral link (from random link up above, or from a friend)
      3 - Buy a headset
      4 - Activate the headset using the Meta Horizon app that's logged into to the Meta Account used in step 1

      When you activate the headset you then get the game credit on your account.

        As long as you accept the referral before today, when you do receive it, the double credit will still apply. I've done it today and will receive my headset on Friday so will report back and let you know
