Very happy with the one I bought.

  • +7

Don't suppose there are any deals on something a bit smaller?

    • +1

If you have a school/university email address the Lenovo student store sometimes has some pretty good stuff. It's generally a few percent cheaper than the normal webstore and occasionally has deep cuts on new old stock.

Generally though the thin, light lenovos like the x1 carbon are pretty expensive, I'd probably look at something like the xps 13 instead.

  • 3 year on-site warranty is 60% off for this promo

Does this mean a specific repairman would come to you in the event something happens?

    • +5

Yes. Used this with an E570 a couple of times and I live in regional NSW. It was excellent service for me as I have medical problems. Great value for money at $134.

  • which one is better value: this one or https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/495009

    • I'd say this, a puny GPU isn't going to transform it into much of a gaming laptop

    • Neither

  • +7

Any sign of a E495 deal TA?

  • Can't seem to find the 3 year on-site warranty for $92, the cheapest I could get is $134 on top of the $745.

    • My apologies. Typo, and now corrected. Should read $135 for 3 years on-site.

      • +1

        Thank you for clarifying

  • No thunderbolt 3?

    • I haven't checked, but the marketing material indicates the USB-C port is USB 3.1 and not Thunderbolt.

"Whether it’s a USB-C, USB 3.1, or HDMI, the ThinkPad E595 has a range of up-to-date ports to connect with your other devices. It also features advanced wireless technology, so you can always be in the loop wherever you are."

TA. Thank you Purchased with 3 Yr onsite wnty for $879. Happy camper here.

My nephew needing a school laptop , this looks good except probably to heavy, any deals on smaller models?

    • +1

2.1 is on the upper end of weights, but tbh from an owner I really don't find it heavy at all.

      • -1

Me too. I find any 15.4" laptop up to around 2.2Kg max is easily manageable for me although I love lighter.

For females below 2KG would definitely be better, hence they love MacBook Airs lol.

  • I'm looking for a new laptop for business and obviously this ain't it. I am hoping to spend $1,000 - $1,500 and want decent battery life so I can work on flights to Perth.

I like the look and feel of the HP Envy, but the ones I've looked at (JB Hi Fi, etc) have Ryzen 2300U processors. I need something better.

Is there anything like that available?

    • +3

XPS 13 is on the upper end of that budget but very nice.

    • +3

I've been looking at the MSI PS63, apparently it has some of the best battery life of any laptop.

      • The xps 13 was actually too far out of budget. Is the MSI decently powerful?

        • Yeah definitely, i7-8565U and you can chose between a cheaper model with just Intel graphics ($1200-$1400) or a GTX 1050ti ($1550 is the cheapest I found on eBay)

          • @IShatMyself: Thanks. Graphics is not important as I have a beast gaming pc. This will just be for business.

            I'll look around.

            Thanks guys!

            • @imurgod: Keep an eye out for Lenovo T480 (old but solid laptop) - might need to import via eBay, should be within your budget. Throw in a 61+ 72wh 6 cell battery (T480 has an inbuilt battery as well) will last you 10+ hours.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T480-14-FHD-i5-8… $1300 after $300 discount using code PSLEIGH

I have a HP Probook G5 and am very happy with it. G6 is the current model.

    • +1

You need to distinguish between a business and consumer categories. Superficially, higher price may seem intangible, but a business laptop is designed to survive physical abuse to a greater degree. All major vendors offer models in either category but you won’t find business laptops in shopping centre stores.

      • I have pulled apart Lenovo Thinkpad E, L and Ts…. both L and T had a metal roller case, as well various seals - for example, bottom of the keyboard is sealed and extra screws, and keyboard compartment is sealed off from the main compartment for accidental spillage.

  • +1

TA, any chance there's a similar discount available on the C740 or X390 Yoga models? Looking for a thin and light for high-school kids, and the 10.9" 'education' version is simply too underpowered with max 4GB RAM.

  • Any chance of getting some NZ specific offers?

  • +4

I bought this the last time the deal was posted.
    I have two observations.

The speakers are underneath the PC rather than on top, and the sound is driven downwards into whatever the laptop is sitting on. Weird flex but okay.

Second, the Realtek Wifi is shonky on this model. Fortunately Lenovo support are excellent, and if you have problems with Wifi dropouts, they'll send a tech out and replace the wireless chip with an Intel one.

    • +2

Bah I didn't know they fixed it so I just bought a new Intel WiFi chip and fitted it myself. It's great now.

    • +1

Only if you paid extra for onsite warranty

      • I didn't pay extra for onsite warranty :-)

        • Then how you know Lenovo support is excellent?

          • +1

@MuddyClear: Because a technician came out and replaced the wifi chip on my laptop ;-)

    • Can also confirm the Realtek wifi is crap. Cheap Intel 8265 on ebay if you're DIY.

  • Need or know whether any deal will get better than this or else I will buy now…?

    • Tightarse brings this deal every so often for around the same price. I am very happy with mine so just buy it!

      • alright… will do
        :)

  • +2

No backlit keyboard or fingerprint reader, :(

    • come to X series or P series, u will thank me

      • +1

I prefer the LED attached to the top of the screen on the older X series than the backlit keyboards

        • I miss my little x61

    • +1

Ugh, no backlighting is such an annoying thing to cheap out on :/

  • +1

Great deal with 16gb upgrade.. want one for son's school but they force only for Intel.. trying to get answer, why only Intel? If allowed, will buy on Monday. Thanks TA

    • That's the 590 model which is currently on special with coupon SINGLE.

    • There's no reason amd wouldn't work. This computer is too heavy and the battery life is not amazing so it wouldn't be the best fit for highschool. Wait for the e495

    • +3

I doubt that an Intel CPU is a requirement. I suspect that they may have a requirement for an Intel based X86 CPU (of which AMD is fine) running the Windows operating system as opposed to an Apple Mac or Google Chromebook.

  • is there space in this chassis for a second ssd? (a 2.5" one?)

    • +2

      Yes.

    • +1

yes, and you can order one from factory too. Check out the customisation options.

  • I am a Lenovo Veteran user (X60, X61, X200s, X220, X230 were in my list). My X230 is now getting slow, and the battery is almost dead. I have tried HP, Dell (the cheap range as well XPS range), Toshiba, but none made me happy as the Thinkpad X did.
    Any recommendation for me?

    • X1 carbon looks like a good mix of very light weight, toughness and performance without an outrageous price tag. If I saw a deal on one will probably impulse buy, currently using a 3yo HP spectre

  • Do any Lenovo's suffer from coil whine?

  • This or this what's value for money, I can have either of those given my need.

    • This, as other is expired!

  • At what point in the checkout do you get to add the coupon? Seems very late in the process… have I missed it?

    • Ah, just found it under the item subtotal

  • Can't wait for another e490s deal.

  • Thanks TA - MVP!

  • Nice deal, thanks TA. Going to grab one for my folks. Any good recommendations for docking stations apart from the ThinkPad option? They’re a bit rexie for my liking.

  • Been asked on other deals and elsewhere but still can't get a clear answer, this or the E590?? Problems I read with E595 (battery, heat, wifi). E590 better on these aspects?

  • Oh and any deals on E580?? Come on Lenovo, at least do a E580 deal so you can clear out stock. Singles deal for E590 is ok but not much lower than the discounts they've been running for the past couple of months.

  • It says "Sorry! eCoupon not found. Try again?" in https://www.lenovo.com/au/ site

  • +2

TA - you delivered again. fingers crossed for a deal on a 14" model :) loving my e490s from previous deal.

  • I have this from last deal.
Great for work, and battery is reasonable, although not outstanding.

  • For those subscribed to this thread, here’s the E495 for $727

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/495269

  • brought one, great deal, thanks.

  • This or the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Laptop i7-1065G7, deal for $250 extra

  • Pulled the trigger last night with 3% cashback, now 11%, ouch!!!

  • Anyone know where or at what stage I enter the coupon code ?

    • When you finalised your order. Before the check out.

  • Just ordered, thanks TA! :)

  • Thanks TA - pulled the trigger today, glad i waited since reviewing last week cos i got the 11% cash rewards too. Email confirmation received. Love your work

  • Thanks TA. Copped this along with a 3-year onsite warranty for +$135. Makes it even sweeter with 11% Cash Rewards.

  • Cashrewards cash back now says upto 10%. So is it 10% or could be anything randomly? Tia

  • +1

    Thank you @tightarse
Bought this with top end specs and 3yr onsite warranty for under $1800 with saving of just under $1000.
