    • Hmm, if HP was overwhelmed by incoming orders for this product I would guess that it takes at least 4 weeks to get additional stock from Asia. My bet is on mid/end of August.

  • If cworld gets delivery end of this month so would we and not mid August as mentioned earlier. Although I don't have a great need for this product I will NOT cancel it, c'mon HP get your act together.

  • HP have been disgraceful and dishonest with me - I am glad they cancelled my orders without notice; I bought instead from PCSol.com.au for $232.03 per unit with eta of 1 Aug. Look at:

    http://www.pcsol.com.au/Prods/Hp-633724-011.asp

Not sure if they have any left available but it may be worth asking.

    • disgraceful and dishonest?
and since they cancelled your orders (ie sounds like you ordered way more than 1 since you are quoting unit prices), you dont think they maybe cancelled them because you multiple ordered on a promo you werent entitled to in the first place? i think maybe someone else was being dishonest first.

i'm not trying to offend you, but you are making pretty big claims against the company considering.

      • "disgraceful and dishonest?" Harsh but not all together inaccurate considering the sheer number of reasons given for cancelling. Even if they had failed to restrict the coupon appropriately, they could've just sent out an apology email with an explanation that the coupon was restricted (if that's the actual reason, considering they ARE shipping the damned things to the people left). If they were really nice they could've tossed in a 10% coupon or something in with the apology. Least Zavvi did and they had a pricing error of equal, if not greater, magnitude and whilst some were still bitching and whining the reasonable amonst us (at least as far as I believe) delt with it and were satisfied.

Also it was not dishonest (IMO) for anyone to use the promo. If it actually was restricted, no one knew and, honestly, no one really knows now.

        • point taken, their communication thus far has been dismal. but even I knew when using "tech at work" promo that this 'really' wasn't for aimed at me… it's obvious that this was supposed to be an offer for techies that have been given the code directly. yes, no where in the order process did it say "only for techies", but you got to admit that when ordering you were crossing fingers in the hopes this wouldnt be rejected ;).

at the end of the day, HP have been caught out… and now they are going to drag their feet as long as possible hoping most of us cancel orders due to the delay. now that's poor form, but again nothing dishonest about it. it's poor business practice that's going to lose them goodwill (that they spend millions in advertising every year trying to get), but not dishonest per say.

      • UFO - This relates to the way that they dealt with me when calling their call centre; constant promises of people calling you back (who never ever do), made up answers, people laughing at me on the phone, the whole shooting match. I was told the only person in the world who could help me was some guy named "Arthur" who was never there and despite repeated promises that they would "call me back" nothing came of it - no correspondence, no answers, 2 hour waits on hold, transfers to nowhere… As for the volume I only ordered two for myself and a few for friends at work (we purchased together). They just charged my card and waited for the tentative charge to expire; I used to purchase several million dollars of HP gear a year and I can tell you that HP have fallen further than I could ever have imagined now. Were they seriously trying to restrict the use of the promotional code they should at least publish a condition of use on the site during the order; no such mention came up.

    • wow a big surprise today - PCSol most recently quoted me ETA of 10th of August and then bingo, all the servers I ordered turned up out of the blue! Wasn't expecting them nearly that quickly. Not as cheap as the HP deal but they came more quickly (and of course didn't cancel on me!).

  • I wish all of you the best luck with getting one from a 3rd party supplier, but to me it seems that if HP are saying there will be delays, then the 3rd parties will have the same problems.
The question is, who will HP prioritise, their direct end users or their resellers?

    • At this price? Resellers. They're probably having a right whinge about being savagely undercut.

      • definitely resellers, support the people that buy most of your product.

that's why they are already saying "end july/early august" but direct customers have a "mid august" expected date.

still waiting for this news directly from HP though. slack asses.

  • Anyone in WA looking for a second stick of ECC ram? I'd be willing to sell mine, if anyone is interested pm me :)

  • Thanks to the various posters for updates on these. I can't believe that HP doesn't have customer notification as part of their transaction workflow!

    Just recieved the following email.

    Dear Valued Customer,

This is with reference to purchase order no: SCPOxxxx

We regret to inform you that due to material constraints, there is an ongoing delay with the delivery of your purchase - HP Micro G7 N36L NHP 250GB AUS Svr

Tentatively we are expecting for stocks to arrive by mid-August 2011 and delivery will be scheduled therein after. We can assure you, however, that if your order remains in force we will expedite the delivery to you as soon as we have received the item(s).

We regret the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We hope to hear from you with your decision based on the above.

    Thank You & Regards,
    Customer Support Specialist
    Hewlett Packard Contact Center

    • received the same from HP

    • Where should I go to cancel it? I don't want to wait any more for the server…

      • Just reply to the email saying you want to cancel.

        Or call 13 23 47 (Option 2)

    • +5

My opinion is that HP should not charge customer's credit cards before the shipping.

    • Do we need to reply if we don't want to cancel?

      • Easier to confirm than risk cancellation….

    • Recieved the same

    • Also received this… is our order still valid? Guy in thread below had his cancelled?

  • I just called HP as I have heard nothing since receiving the first order confirmation email on the 13th July. They/he told me that the order (1unit)had been cancelled and that I "should" have been informed by email. There hasn't been a Credit Card refund to this point also. He will "fix" it today. So no product even though I thought I was OK, (They also asked if I was an employee or relation of an employee)

    Communication fail HP.

    • They also asked if I was an employee or relation of an employee

If you go back far enough, everyone is a relation of an employee. They have 324,600 employees (2010).

      :D

Just tell them you are in a same sex relationship with someone in HP senior management and you would rather not say who it is.

        • oh thats gold.

Probably better to say its a same sex relationship with a call centre manager at HP.

  • I'm pretty sure we'll get it in similar time-frame as the resellers .. 1st week of Aug hopefully
It does feel like they never intended to make any more, but given the price … so many have been ordered , and they probably don't mind making a "last batch" !

  • My email states:
We hope to hear from you with your decision based on the above

I think that means you need to reply that you wish to keep your order.

    • Yeah… I just sent them a reply, hopefully I won't get the family questions like Chris.

      • leighzac got the question. I was just quoting him.

  • Just received an email from hp confirming that due to material constraint, new stock won't arrive until mid august, and delivery will be scheduled therein after. :(

    • Edited: didnt see that someone else already posted email above, sorry.

  • I guess HP trying to do damage control after got a bit of complaints from WP, OCAU and OZBargain. I would expect better coming from a big name like HP. Over a week long to send out one email about delay of shipment while they already charged the CC.

Many small e-retailers from China would have better communication and inventory control than HP! Most of them would only charge your CC just before they ship to you - or when they know that they can quickly fullfill the order within couple days.

  • My order of 1 unit from them got cancelled and was glad for this as I will not be dealing with them in the future and avoid HP as much as I can. I prefer Dell.

    • Mate, Dell has done worst in the past. Twice I a fantastic deal off their website to have it cancelled later because their price was wrong. At least they didn't charge my credit card before cancelling my order.

      • Yes, it was because the price was wrong but on this occasion it was not.

  • +2

I rang them and they were apologetic about the delay….worth the wait I reckon, the guy said you need not ring them to confirm the order, unless you wanted to cancel.

    • +1

Yeah total comms fail from HP. That letter contradicts itself…

We can assure you, however, that if your order remains in force we will expedite the delivery to you as soon as we have received the item(s).

That part makes sense, but then at the end it says…

We hope to hear from you with your decision based on the above.

So they hope to hear from us that we want to cancel. ie. They actually want us to cancel.

Weird letter man. Seems you just can't get the staff these days.

      • +1

Agreed, as a tip, don't use "therein" unless you are a lawyer or know how to use it. Smacks of trying too hard.
I feel sorry for the grad who probably had to do it.

        • -1

Therein lies the secret to social acceptance, people. Learn it well.

          ;)

    • They were definitely NOT apologetic when I called earlier this week. I asked them to explain why they didn't call me as soon as they found out they wouldn't be able to meet their originally stated delivery window, and got a healthy serving of bulls—t.

      • Similar experience. They even said it was probably cancelled cos my email address looks funny and the tone of voice used was… less than neutral.

All up, complete customer service failure imo.

  • -2

Has anyone got a delivery from HP or not?

    • brace for impact buddy :)

      • +2

I still have not heard from anyone who got a delivery email or the item delivered, so that meant HP never had any intention of delivery as they had no stock on hand. ACCC?

        • +1

As I guess I would say they have some but nowhere near enough, and fear of doing something wrong has paralysed some middle management them from doing anything at all. Basically, if you send out the ones you have, people will know (e.g via here, OCAU etc) then every other person/reseller will bitch and moan even more loudly about where is mine, I am more important, I ordered first etc.
No doubt someone in management is trying to work out how doing a positive thing, in selling a bargain, became a PR nightmare.

        • I heard from ocau that an employee ordered one on 8th July, sent 19th but not arrived yet.
Sounds like they build to order and don't carry much stock.
Anyone know where these are built? The 5th graders there are probably being kept late to finish our orders. Small hands are good for those little cases;)

  • Just found from OCAU that few people just got their orders cancelled due to reasons like "financial issues" (whatever that is) or "offer expired".

    http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=968483&pa…

Apparently, when someone rang back and question the reason to the sales manager, even the manager wasn't sure why the order got cancelled!! He got the order reinstated after that.

Watch your order state, folks. HP really in the bloody mess wih this tech@work promo.

    In case anyone is wondering…

    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/sm/WF05a15351-15351-423…
    http://h41112.www4.hp.com/promo/proliantmicroserver/index.ht…

So in the UK the RRP is GBP209 ex VAT with a GBP100 cashback offer.

In AUD this makes it… AUD163.74 or AUD180.12 inc GST.

    Add delivery.

So basically $200, including delivery is prettymuch a price where HP can
    still profit.

I do wonder if there's a bullet-hole free foot at HP left over this.

  • This bargain would never have become the PR nightmare it has if they'd only done what any sensible retailer does when they can't meet unexpectedly high demand: inform the customer. If you put out a great price and 300% more people than expected make use of it, you send out an email thanking all your customers for their response and "due to overwhelming demand we have to push back our expected delivery date by two weeks, we'll keep you informed as things progress. Thanks for choosing HP" etc.

It was when they realised that they couldn't fulfil the orders and chose NOT to inform their customers that this awesome deal went down the creek.

  • Yeah… i got shipment confirmation

    • Did you previously receive the email about the delay?

      • Yes, they said till mid August

    • Did you order it before the the day it was announced on ozbargain ?

      • I ordered when i saw it on Ozbargain

    • +1

Mine is still "date will follow" I ordered a few hours before it showed up on ozbargain… SCPO31311X

Which is interesting, in that there was no local stock even before it got the ozb treatment.

      • unless your order which should have rightfuly shipped first was put on the "first in last out" queue :(

  • I just rang up, it's delay til september…. should I cancel the order :(

    • and they'll keep delaying until more people cancel out of frustration.
but for $200, i still cant buy anything better… so I'll keep waiting until that happens. when another deal pops up that's better, I'll cancel. then hopefully HP will be stuck high and dry with all these units they wont be able to shift.

  • I'll keep waiting hopefully 3TB Hitachi's drop from the current "bend over Australians" pricing US$119, AU$189 (or $169 with OCAU special). Although charging my credit card in full anywhere up to 3 months prior to delivery (it wasn't marked as a pre-order or limited stock item) is a bit of a joke. If HP can't deliver til Sept they should refund the charge and actually process it when (or if) the items come in stock.

  • does HP use AAE couriers? I just missed a package from them but can't think of what else it might be (SGS2 from SS? lol doubtful)…

    • Nah, I've only ever seen HP Store stuff arrive exclusively via startrack express, here in VIC at least.

      • thanks stumo, I guess it is some other surprise then!

  • Most orders will be delayed till September (mid September maybe). The additional cause of the delay is parts shortage. Apprently, HP will be notify people (dunno when) via e-mail once there is another update about a revised update (or delay to be honest).

    Really considering cancelling the order.

    • BS if true! How come Computer World and others can access new stock then? Will likely cancel my order if this turns out true.

      • Because:
        - They probably ordered before the OZB rush.
        - HP will look after the resellers first (big customer / returning customer). HP know we OZBers are just in for the discount. Big order -> better treatment.

  • Cool!
HP called me, they will send it tomorrow.

    • Nice! did you originally get the same email as everyone else that the shipping would be delayed until mid-august? Why did they call you?

      • Yes, confirmation for delivery tomorrow.

        • You still haven't told us exactly when you ordered it. So what time on the 12th did you order and whats your rough order number?

        • Does it really matter? Most of us won't get ours until September (assuming HP don't delay it again).

What worries me is that HP have no idea when their OEM factories can start building them -> which means the ETA for most of us is a guess, not even a scheduled date.

        • +1

          Does it really matter?

No I'm just getting ready to hoist the BS flag is all.

I can see there are a few orders before mine that are now "in production", so mine at least shouldn't be too far off. Not that it matters to me because mine is just gonna sit here in its box as a spare in case my main one dies.

  • Received mine from CWorld this morning. HP need to learn from these guys.

  • Makes me think that, what might have happened is that HP gave several resellers a good price, maybe $170-$200, and "guaranteed" not to undercut them. HP probably forgot about a "small" promotion they had running whereby employees and others associated with HP could get it cheap as well. After the promotion was Ozbargained, the resellers probably vented their fury at HP about holding stock that their supplier was undercutting. HP's respone has been to try to get people to shift to the resellers by misinformation and delay of shipping until the resellers have shifted their stock. That is why they are telling people it will be delayed, and telling customers to cancel.
This is not an uncommon problem between resellers and manufacturers who have their own distribution channels.

In my view there are no stock problems, as these are being actively sold in other countries like the UK, where I would guess the parts are identical even power supply. We also know these come from OS anyway.

I am hoping HP got a large shipment, and has shipped the biggest orders to their resellers. They should now be processing their own orders to their direct customers for the remaining boxes.

    • looks like HP have started shipping
search for order SCPO313103 - shows as shipped

but they must have a few hundred to ship, so might take a while
      mine's 500 orders later !!

      • thats a good sign…mine is in the SCP03132xx range so hopefully they ship soon!

      • Yep that's my order. Received it this morning!

  • I haven't been following this and I go and check my order status and it was cancelled. I didn't ask for it to be cancelled. Was I supposed to respond to some email that never came?

    Crap HP, crap.

    • No, HP cancelled a bunch of orders before that…

      • That's stupid, oh well, probably good in a way. Didn't need one just wanted to dabble a bit.

  • +1

On hold with HP for 15 minutes now, pretty lame!

Edit: 30 minutes, worst part is they keep telling you that nobody can take the call and you can leave a voice mail message, yes I know that HP you've told me over 50 times now..

Edit: 42 minutes and I caved in.

    • I found calling in the morning made it easier to get through; also selecting option 1 rather than 2.

  • Delivery was attempted yesterday and a card was left. Collected from depot this afternoon (a single box)

    • What was your order number?

  • The shipping by order number seems to be very strange.

SCPO313195 is at the Admin stage.
    SCPO313198 has been shipped, and
    SCPO313197 has been delivered!!!
    SCPO313199 is at Admin again.

    Very odd.

    • So that pretty much confirms order sequence has nothing to do with it.

Mine is well over 50 orders prior to any of those, and still in admin. Wtf are they playing at?

    • Do you think they send it by location?

      • The two delivered orders that I've seen have both been to WA out of Singapore.

However, I'm in Perth and I'm still in 'Admin'.

  • why is SCPO313197 shipped before SCPO313104, some buyer must have piority :(
    mine is SCPO3136XX :(

    • I might be way off the mark but there is a chance that some of the orders that have been given priority could be legitimate HP customers/employees that were originally given the Tech@Work code. HP could be doing a cross-check with a list of contacts they know are legitimate customers…

      My 2c.

Meanwhile, mine is still in Admin status :(

  • im in the 200's and still sitting at "admin" stage :(. fingers crossed i'm getting mine soon.

  • +1

Its a bit pathetic that my 3tb hdd's ordered from B&H USA yesterday are already shipped and will arrive next week before any update from HP.

  • +1

    HP Communication fail

  • Just rang HP and they told me my order should arrive IN THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER!

    WTF HP!!!

    • Hey that's $1.58 of lost interest for 2 months on my $200 otherwise investment :)

    • +2

well… this unit came out late 2010, and everyone knows how fast computer technology moves. if HP really are going to delay 2 months until delivery, that just leaves me more time to see if a better deal comes along. what's the bet a better deal for a home server is posted here within the next month (ie non HP)? then HP will be stuck holding all these units that they will then have to resell at $150-$170.

I'll keep my order open for the time being, i have nothing to lose. I'm actually hoping a better deal comes along so i get the satisfaction of cancelling this one :). Poor HP.
