Celestron Solar Telescope 50 is a dedicated white-light solar telescope for the observer on the go.

The 50mm solar telescope was designed exclusively for eclipses and solar observation and features proprietary Solar Safe filter technology.

The portable solar telescope has permanently mounted, ISO compliant, full aperture glass filter material to ensure safe solar viewing.

The Solar Telescope 50 kit comes complete with everything you need to observe eclipses and the solar surface - the kit includes the dedicated solar telescope, an adjustable height tripod, a Solar Safe finder scope, a high quality 20mm (18x) Kellner eyepiece and a nylon backpack to carry everything in.

The adjustable height tripod is lightweight and portable, but also provides sufficient stability.

The Solar Telescope 50 kit makes it easy to share an eclipse with the whole family and offers much higher magnifications than you would otherwise get using handheld solar viewers or binoculars. Ideally suited for eclipse observing, the solar telescope also provides years of solar observing enjoyment.

Observe sunspots as they develop on the solar surface, and rotate across the solar disk from day to day.

All Celestron products feature Solar Safe filter technology. Solar Safe filter technology provides ultimate protection from harmful solar radiation, including both IR and UV light, and filters 99.999% of intense visible light.

Celestron Solar Safe filter technology is GUARANTEED SAFE for direct solar observation and has been independently tested by SAI Global Assurance Services. Solar Safe products conform to and meet the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2, Filters for Direct Observation of the Sun.

  • Noob here, I understand that this is for “solar viewing”, but can this view Saturn’s rings?

    • This particular scope is only for solar viewing and will not be suitable for other astronomy.

There is a great offer on the AstroFi 90 (was $749.99 now $374.99) that might be suitable for you.

AstroFi 90 looks nearly identical to the Celestron 90gt. See previous bargain for comments.

Oh that was my deal :)
The astrofi90 has a better mount. It's a bit stronger geared, produces a stronger wifi signal and has two ports. The telescope itself may be identical.

        • patiently wait for this… :)

  • Are their any eclipses in Australia coming up? No total eclipses I think.
