[VIC] Skybus to Melbourne Airport Adult $15 (One Way), $28 (Return) @ Klook

360

Skybus Deal @ Klook. Better than previous deal.
I believe this is by far the best price (after cashback) for Skybus tickets? Some are more than 20% off
The ticket I got this morning (to Tullamarine) is valid for a whopping 11 months until 16 Aug 2020. Tickets issued by Skybus seem to be only valid for 3 months

For new users out there, Klook is very reliable - I purchased one ticket this morning and it arrives at my mailbox within seconds

Melbourne City <-> Tullamarine
- One way: $15 ($19.75 on Skybus website)
- Return: $28 ($36.5 on Skybus website)

Melbourne City <-> Avalon
- One way: $20 ($24 on Skybus website)
- Return: $36 ($45 on Skybus website)

Remember Shopback Cashback for extra 4%
Not sure when will the deal expire but may as well plan ahead for your trip since the tickets are valid for >11 months

    Wow good deal mate!

  • Wow a bargain on a monopoly service. The SkyBus company has grown so huge over the past years through Aus and Nz instead governments should be building rail or providing direct bus services to airports

    • Completely agree! It should be a public service

I guess you can't earn velocity on these ones as a trade off?

    • Yeah. No velocity points

      • Velocity points aren't available on all routes anyway (e.g. St Kilda Express).

If you haven't used he KLOOK app to make a booking before, Rather than the cashback your probably better off using code MOBILE10 in the klook app($HK10 off) which brings the price back to

    One Way
    ADULT $13.11
    FAMILY UNAVAILABLE

    Return
    ADULT $26.11
    FAMILY $27.10

    • I can't seem to book in December

  • Do they issue tax invoice?

  • Bought and yeah I unexpectedly got 1-year expiry on my tickets too! Good point by capslock though - title should be $15.

    • A typo there soz!

    Thanks
Referral discount made it only $23 return for upcoming melbourne trip

  • Yay, just did this.

Someone wants me to come meet them at the airport tomorrow… So this will do the trick.

    • worked fine mate?

        No worries, cobber

  • I will be in melb in December. It only allow me to select till end of November. Can someone please clarify the booking date is not applicable as the ticket will be valid for 11months. Meaning I can just pick a date in Nov despite me traveling in dec. Thanks

    • The ones I bought today had an expiry in August 2020 on the voucher with no reference to the dates I actually entered

      • Ok. Thanks.

Looks pretty good (thank you @B0b0) - especially using the Mobile10 promotion code in the Klook app (thank you @Schumi5) brings it down to $54.11 return for two adults (VS $73.00 via Skybus online).

    Two questions
    1. When booking a return trip it only shows a single date … I'm assuming the date is irrelevant and you don't have to go and return on the same day?
    2. I did see a review about Klook (https://au.trustpilot.com/review/www.klook.com - "Misleading information on website") which suggested there is a foreign currency conversion involved when paying in $A. Has anyone purchased via Klook app using Aus C/card or Paypal and got a foreign currency conversion fee?

    • Just been looking at Klook reviews - seems like a lot of people get dudded by tickets not being accepted by the operator when purchaser rocks up to use a Klook voucher/ticket. I'll be interested to see if those who have purchased skybus tickets actually get to travel when they turn up.

      1. The ticket I got was valid until 16 Aug 2020 - the date you pick on Klook seems to be irrelevant.

      2. I used to purchase Japan sightseeing pass on Klook - the price quotwd was in AUD but the transaction was made in USD.
Nevertheless my skybus purchase yesterday seems to be transacted in AUD

  • Perfect. I needed this for an upcoming trip to Melbourne. Thanks.

  • Just note, I got charged the hidden 'foreign transaction fee' even though I paid in AUD. Worked out to be 3% of the total transaction. Still cheaper than buying Skybus direct but you might want to try 28 Degrees et al, if you want to avoid this fee.

    • Or just use PayPal.
Mine via PayPal had no extras, and was in AUD.

    • Weird, i was trying to figure out what currency they charged in to avoid fees and their FAQ states the transaction should be in AU dollars?

Klook displays activity prices in a number of currencies including USD, HKD, SGD, TWD, EUR, GBP and more which you can change using the currency drop down menu. However, we currently only accept transactions in USD, HKD, SGD, CNY, TWD (excluding AMEX card), MYR, KRW, THB, PHP, VND, IDR, EUR, GBP, CHF, DKK, ISK, NOK, SEK, RUB, KHR, MOP, AUD, and NZD.

      • Some banks will slug you the foreign transaction fee if the seller isn't based in Australia e.g. Westpac if you buy stuff from Book Depository in AUD

        • i just nearly checked out on the app - there's a note right at the end saying the transaction will be in US dollars as they only accept USD, HKD, SGD, and TWD. Wonder if this app only, so confusing.

detlef7 did you use desktop or app?

edit: used PayPal on desktop, charged me in AU, all good.

  • awesome deal

    $23 return is great.

    First 2 beers are free!

  • Hey Guys . Ensure you pay with 28 Degree Card or similar to avoid Overseas/conversion fees with Aust cards as what just happened to me .

  • Good find!

Comes down to $23 ($5 voucher and 3.5% cashback later) for skybus round trip, 1 year expiry from date.

Paid with Paypal to avoid international transaction charge.

    Thanks OP

    • Could you share hwo do you get $5 voucher? :)

      • just use the referral link in the post above but you have to be a new user

  • Looks like this deal has ended. Price is back to $19.75 one way
