Skybus Melbourne CBD ↔ MEL Airport Express $18.13 One Way, $30.34 Return (Non Refundable QR Code) @ Agoda

860

May I ask our fellow OZB member stop reporting this deal as expired.
The price does go up and down. Probably due to exchange rate fluctuation.
Unless it goes back to its RRP, please keep the deal as active. Thank you.

Just in time for my upcoming trip this week.
For some random reason Tickets for the next 2 days is 75c more expensive.
You may select any departure date up to 2 months from today, however:

Tickets are valid for 3 months from date of purchase.

Original rip off price from Skybus official website is OW $24.60, RT $41.20
Cashback is not available.

Don't think the departure date selected matters, you can use it within 3 months for any direction you like

Use a card with no international transactions fee as Agoda is recognized as a foreign merchant by some banks.

I wasn't charged any fx fee when I purchased this on my amex.

Otherwise, definitely use fx-free cards for accomodations on Agoda. These do attract fx fees in my experience.

      • For some accommodations they routed through Sydney 036, but if you've never booked the same one before you'll never know, so safer to use FX free cards just in case if it's your first time.

      • +3

AMEX doesn’t charge a fee if it’s already in AUD

        • Possibly the only remaining issuer in Australia which doesn't.

  • Is this the normal airport bus that leaves every half hour from southern cross?

    • +5

that's the one, and it leaves every 15 mins between 4am - 1am.

  • there is no option for the return trip? turn up and go?

    • +2

There are one way and return options. Buy return and scan the same ticket on the way back.

  • Is this only for Tulla? Missus is coming back on Tuesday from Avalon and was tossing up between driving in or Skybussing it.

    • Agoda doesn't sell Avalon Skybus tickets; just Tulla

      • Bugger. Couldn't find any, but was positively knackered so figured I'd ask.

        Cheers!

True Ozbargainer would catch the train to Broadmeadows and the 901 bus for $5.50 full fare (or $2.25 concession) ;-)

    • +1

Or get the train early, and pay $3.50 ;)

      • +1

Or catch the free DFO bus

    • Oooh thanks didn’t realise this was a thing. Will give it a shot

  • Price has increased ? Return is about $35 now

    • Return is $31.99 at the moment.

  • Has anyone actually used this deal? Just don't want to turn up to the Skybus and they tell me it's a dud QR code!

    • Yes, I used it last October, it's legit.

    • Legit but beware of possible international transaction fee.

  • +2

Remember the DFO bus is free!

Skybus prices and monopoly is cartel level. Shameful

  • Book ahead at least 48 hours from when you need to hop on. I learnt the hard way and didn’t get issued a ticket in time

  • +1

Train to Broadmeadows (Craigieburn line) then 901 bus to the Airport

If you have more tham one person Didi Travel is normally about the same price between the city and airport ($35). with the benefit of getting picked up.

  • I couldn't find a listing for the Peninsula Express on Agoda, is there one?

    • I'd like to know too

  • So is this only from the city, not outside suburbs please?

  • Discounted rip off price is still a rip off tbh, you're likely only saving money if you're travelling alone and you live close to one of their stops.

  • Return seems to now be 32.09?

  • That's one uncomfortable bus

  • +2

Noticed the new price on a recent trip such a rip off, got to love these yearly price increases.

    • When they first switched to double deckers, some genius made a sign that said: "Double the size, and still only $19".

The company is as stupid as they are greedy.

  • Missed out on well

  • Just booked for a return trip next week, billed at $30.34, 3 month validity. Thanks Op.

  • $36.03 now for a return trip!?

    • Try using your mobile. its cheaper

  • How long does it take to receive the voucher? Mines stuck on processing.

  • How long does the voucher take to arrive? The transaction on the Agoda website took a long time (minutes) to accept, and now no confirmation has shown up. It's been about 1.5 hours.

Need to use the voucher tomorrow.

    I'm already considering a chargeback.

    • it was always instant for me.
Do you see anything under Bookings?
      https://www.agoda.com/en-au/account/bookings.html
There also may be a possibilty that your card is not working. check if the payment has gone through.

    • Did you get the voucher eventually?

      • Got a confirmation about 2 hours later, and then sometime in the night (whilst I was sleeping), a cancellation notice. No explanation.
Never using Agoda again, and looking at the reviews, I should never have tried in the first place. It was a few hours of stress I didn't need.

        • Agoda is owned by Booking.com. Their website is a bit painful to use but they're definitely legit.

  • It looks like there has been a change to the processing of vouchers, my card preauthorised, but order says checking with supplier. Will be interesting to see if I get a voucher eventually

  • +1

Update to those who are in the same situation with stuck on processing. I eventually received confirmation of the voucher around 6 hours after purchasing it through the Agoda site. It's a bit of a relief they are still selling these discounted tickets.

  • Prices are different on different devices for some reason.

    • that's very common for agonda, booking.com etc.
