Qantas American Express Discovery Card - 10,000 Qantas Points + $0 Annual Fee @ AmEx Australia via Finder

120
Edit: As mentioned by G77, the referral link provides the same amount of points. So you can give some by getting some!

Found this while looking for an AMEX to rack up Qantas points without an annual fee and a low spenditure requirement. Probably not the best around, but it might help someone.

Key card benefits

  • 10,000 bonus Qantas points when you apply via Finder link by 17th September 2019, are approved and spend $750 on your new Card within the first 3 months
  • Earn 0.75 Qantas Points for every $1 spent on Card purchases (except spend at government bodies in Australia where you will earn 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent). Earn 1 additional Qantas Point per $1 spent with Qantas.
  • 0% p.a. on balance transfers for the first 12 months (one-off establishment fee of 1% applies)
  • Arrange up to 4 free Additional Cards for family members or friends
  • Access Purchase and Refund Protection, Online Fraud Protection Guarantee and Emergency Card Replacement

Additional Amex Card Member benefits

Enjoy a range of useful benefits that are unique to Amex Card Members and even sweeter with a $0 annual fee. These include:

  • Amex Offers: Access “Spend and Save” promotions that reward you with a statement credit when you register for offers on your card and hit a minimum spend threshold (e.g. AMEX Shop Small, or cashback offers and a range of retailers)
  • Amex Invites: Experience sought-after events like music, theatre and film, via pre-sale tickets and exclusive seating
  • Amex Entertainment Lounges: Enjoy exclusive lounge access before popular shows, with food and drinks available to purchase
Eligibility and other important information

To be eligible for the 10,000 bonus Qantas points, you must not have held a direct-issued Amex Card in the last 18 months (you are eligible if you hold a bank-issued Amex companion card).

Also note that:

  • You’ll need to be able to report a personal pre-tax income of $35,000 or more
  • The minimum spend to get the bonus points is $750 within the first 3 months
  • A 20.74% p.a. interest rate on purchases applies (with up to 44 Interest free days available)

If you really want this card, same bonus can be had via OzB referral. Use the referral, make a fellow Ozbargainer's day!

Yep definitely better deal to make an Ozbargainer's day than Finder's day :)

    • You are right!. I uploaded this deal because in the referral's section, it says there is no benefit for the referee

      Qantas Discovery Card: random (206)
      Referrer: 30,000 Qantas Points
      Referee: No current benefit

Maybe that should be updated. Anyway, I'll add this information in the deal. Thanks for bringing it up!

No sweat, congrats on the first post! :)

    • This is an awesome idea.

To confirm, to get this deal I click on "Qantas Discovery Card" in the referral section above?

Secondly, how do I get my referral link added to this block?

      Thanks,

      Dallas

    WHAT???????????????????????

have Amex Essential so wont have the 10,000 points?????

    • According to the T&Cs:

Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited, in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for the bonus Qantas Points offer.

So yeah, that seems to be the case :/

    • Yes correct. When I got my second amex it had "member since" date from the first card. So I didn't bother putting the spend amount through for bonus points on second amex.

  • PASS!

    Any other deals to recommend?
    Just finished https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/474871
Looking for another credit card deal with 0 annual fee and bonus points. Thanks in advance.

    • I can't find any other card that is 0 annual fee, bonus points and not a AmEx (as the 18 month limitation is commonplace) at the moment. Sorry.

      • Don't be sorry. Good deals on annual fee free cards are much less a thing nowadays. I think the greater public is catching on.

$0 if you go with Westpac Awards program or $50 if you go with Qantas/Virgin

    Thank you!

  • i recommend using the Qantas ultimate referral link instead and just choose "View our other Cards" click on the Qantas American Express Discovery Card you still get 10,000 Qantas Points + $0 Annual Fee and the referrer will get 60k in qantas points unitl August 28th which im sure they would be willing to share. btw tip if you have an existing amex card and its not the qantas branded amex just leave your membership out of the application you should still get the bonus 10k if you meet the minimum spend requirements.

    • " … its not the qantas branded amex just leave your membership out of the application you should still get the bonus 10k if you meet the minimum spend requirements …"

I don't quite understand. I have a Westpac AMEX card (bundled), I am not sure if it is classified as AMEX direct issued card as I get monthly statement directly from Amex, not from Westpac.

If I apply this card, do you mean I should not tell them I am Qantas frequent flyer member to get the bonus 10k?

      Thank you for your help.

      • no best leave your existing amex no. out of new application. cant say how it will turn out in your case as you already have a wbc amex qantas branded card so no garrantees you will get the points but my wife did as she never had a qantas amex card, btw id advised best in closing it first if you dont need it. also another tip amex as well as many other card issuers have changed their policy thus you cant reinstate a closed account anymore without reapplying and taking another credit hit and making a new application so think long and hard before closing any accounts

    • Are you referring to the amex link? I cant find in amex website for discovery card with a bonus 10k qantas points. Do you have the link?

  • Applied yesterday, approved today. Such a different experience than Citibank in the search for cc points
