      Thanks, updated title.

    Another day wasted for most?

    • +1

I think most people's Plus Trials expired after the last shit fight. Perhaps a few people were lucky enough to get 3-month trials.

      • 4 months

      • +2

shit fight… lol.. tried every hour that day for the ipods but no luck :)

        • Coz bot. you can see half of them are new accounts.:)

  • +2

I guess I’ll try this bs again
No luck with AirPods but take it these might not have the same pull

  • This one? https://www.jbhifi.com.au/samsung/samsung-t5-portable-ssd-dr…

Nice price if so. My eBay plus expired though :(

  • +9

    not this bs again

  • Can someone confirm which page the deal will actually go on?

    Is it this one?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/deals

  • +1

    i dont see no deal

    • -3

Try via Ticketek at 10am, or ViaGoGo after that.

  • Is that 10am AEST? and probably a dumb question but were is the banner saying $79?

    • Banner was there about 10 mins ago.

    • Turn off your Ad Blocker :)

    • +1

I cant see the banner while logged in but if I open the link in incog it shows up.
Samsung Portable SSD T5 is whats shown on the banner. No link for clicking, might only be live when it hits 10

      • +1

I get the same thing. I log in and its gone, but I log out and it's there.

      • ^this

        • It's all part of the excruciating phantasm ebay marketing geniuii want to create

And must be driving the CX boffins crazy, to see eXperience so crappened flat by the greater team above

Interesting note: as at 11:36, 203 have been sold in 2 drops. Either that's three sold at the jacked price of $269, or 3 sold at $79, so ebays tzars are either making hundreds or losing their sense cents, whilst crusing the Caribbean. It will drive them nuts if they find out they sold three at $79.00

(* PS. Nothing to do with adblocker, not now anyway- the banner image is showing in the item description)

Hoping amazon do the same deal. I'd rather buy from there than deal with ebay shenanigans!

    • +1

This is probably why eBay are only doing 100 per hour. Hoping Amazon won't match it.

If Amazon say stuff it and match the price, and not have a limit of 100 per hour, eBay would have egg on their face, and be forced to mark it as sold out or sell all of them at that price until whoever blinks first.

      • +2

Not really - last I saw, the price from Amazon just changes back as soon as the competitor was sold out at that price. Assuming they sell at about a similar rate, which from experience will probably last ‘seconds’ I doubt it will matter much.

        • +2

Amazon isn't going to price match a discount code on Ebay. Lets be real here, unless you can give me examples of them doing so in the past

          • @BarginGrabber: I absolutely can…. the Sony XM3 just a few weeks ago.. it was reduced heavily at 10am on a Saturday for an ebay special code deal. They had (If I recall correctly) 500 or so units only. Amazon ended up having the exact same price for a few seconds while it was in stock and then it reverted.

There’s a post somewhere on here for that deal with people posting about buying the Amazon item at that time also - but I witnessed the change first hand as well, just so that it isn’t hearsay :)

I would totally trial eBay Plus to buy this, but not for a chance to buy it…

    • My thought as well. Not worth the hassle especially after the 4month freebie deal expired a day before.

  • These drives usually contain an mSATA drive. May interest someone after a 1 TB mSATA drive.

  • +1

    Is $79 1TB SSD a good deal?

    • +2

      For a Samsung, yes

    • Looks like the Samsung Portable SSD T5. Pretty great looking portable HDD for that price and USB-C connection

    • +4

It's bloody good deal. A decent 1TB SSD is around $100+ and Samsung is the best and most popular in the industry. They hold something like 60% of the market.

    • Assuming it's a T5 (we don't know what it is yet), can usually find around $260-$280 mark, so yes a good deal if you have the use case or plan to re-sell.
I personally wouldn't be buying one to use with a desktop, as the performance is too low for my needs.
Great drive for backups\sharing data if your not into the cloud.

      • +1

Assuming it's a T5 (we don't know what it is yet

        The photo shows a T5

    • It's an exceptional deal.

  • +7

Screenshot of the banner for anyone that cant see it https://imgur.com/a/dXaZJAl

    • I assumed it to be an internal Evo or Qvo SSD.
OP should add external Samsung T5 to title

  • +3

Screw this. Last time the banner didn't work. And every time I looked at the item even a few seconds after the dot, it was all gone.

It's more of a lottery than a deal.

    • +1

This promo isn't widely promoted (yet), you're in with a fighting chance.

      • +13

        It’s on ozbargain.. enough said.

        • indeed, but the airpods were promoted on many major websites….and this item would have a much lower level of appeal.

        • It’s on ozbargain.. enough said

OK, yes. I admit I was wrong.

  • +1

I'm guessing this can't be shucked?

    • Would also like to know

      • +2

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGB311K0Btg

You would have to use an adaptor like this ^
When you open the t5, theres an msata ssd connected to a usb interface. You can take out the msata ssd and attach to an msata->sata adaptor board like in the video above.

        • +1

          Why shuck this?

          • +2

@capslock janitor: Because $79 for what is essentially an 860 evo is a steal.

            • +1

@BigNatho: I mean the casing has appeal too :) I understand shucking some other ugly one.

But why not just connect as is directly to PC? Also being portable if needed :D

        • So are you saying I could buy the lower capacity one, shuck it and replace it with a higher capacity ssd? or is there a similar type-c case design around the same price point.

  • Wow.. good luck to everyone trying this. I have a feeling they're only showing banners to people who don't currently have eBay Plus. I cant see the banner at all.
Anyone got a link we can use ?

    • probs pop up at 10 maybe

    • It appears if you have ebay plus you have to log out to see the banner. Bit weird…

  • -1

Amazon will probably price match anyway

    • Amazon AU or US?

      • +1

If you have prime, won't matter.

        • How do they match it?

          • @capslock janitor: They don't always match, but how they work is, they have algorithm AI systems in place that match deals online so people use their platform.

  • +1

Can this be opened to reveal a 2.5" drive to input into a PC?

  • +7

    Another feebay plus joke!

    • +7

It's not a joke if you get one

  • Did people even get the airpods from last time?

    • Yes

    • I got mine! Pretty happy because I was going to purchase them in a few months for my partner haha

  • Thanks for sharing OP.

  • Can't see the banner anymore. Is it stil visible?

    • You have to logout to see it

  • +1

    No banner for me!!

    • +1

Agree, it's weird - you can only see the banner when logged out. As soon as you login, it vanishes! Clearly bait for new Plus members.

  • logged into my ebay with plus membership, could not see it on banner, neither on its deal page https://www.ebay.com.au/deals. Anyone has direct link for it please? Thx

  • Pic doesn't say 1TB though?

    • Yes, good point.. How is it assumed its 1TB?

      • +1

Black colour is only available in 1TB or 2TB

  • anyone have a link?

    • Clicking the banner it just redirects to Plus sign-up WTF

  • +4

Reminds me of the old COTD deals

    • Ditto! At least eBay server wouldn't crash.

  • The banner just links to Ebay Plus… Then when you log in / signup it disappears…. Bait..?

  • the banner is gone. cancelled?

  • Banner is there for me. But no link to the item

  • +2

Its a trick to get more ebay plus sign up. Anyone who could see the link even after sign up?

    • no

  • +1

    banner is gone now

    • -4

Wow are retailers that quick to match nowadays? :O

Also code doesn't work on their website :(

      Can you link the eBay?

  • Bought!

  • Banner doesn't even say 100 every hour anymore. Till the stock last it says but no link to product page

  • 10 o'clock flop

  • Got one!
