    • no problems here.
Had my monthly spend on 1200 and have a citi cc also, which I pay off completely per month

      • thanks for your experience… guess i'll have to wait to see the letter then.
The Mastercard and AMEX i have thru WEstpac black now are always paid off in full every month, never been late.

        • just forget the letter - it won't tell you crap

          • @nignucial: ah shame .. so guess i'll likely never find out why i was declined? And i then assume there is nothing I can do to reapply or contest being declined?

            • @swampson: I had the same issue. Easily over the minimum requirements, but I was rejected via some vague letter. I'm assuming it was down to my existing card limits, even thought they're all paid off. My credit rating is great as well.

I rang them and the girl was absolutely no help. She basically said she can't tell me anything other than what's in the letter (which is nothing). Pretty annoyed.

I guess I'll wait 3 months and hope another good deal is available. Might have to give myself some more leeway on the application though.

              • @mcyike: thanks for your info - it seems weird (to me) that they can't explain "why"? I'm no expert at these matters, however.
All my info was accurate (or solid estimate).. sounds like yours was too though….

                • @swampson: when i arrived home last night, the letter had turned up. It was as i expected (re the 'monthly expenses' aspect)

"based on your monthly income and expense info you provided, we could not confirm your ability to make sufficient repayments"

Which really, and mathematically, is total BS. I have never been late with a payment for whole yr on my Westpac AMEX, always pay 100% of what is owed (not partial/minimum balance), and my monthly income vs estimate of the expenses are nowhere close to each other. They provided a number to call to 'discuss', which I'll do, but as the offer's expired now, I'm not sure what will be gained.

                  Anyway, bit dum really. Meh.

  • Hey everyone,
Just regarding the 20k bonus. I applied and got accepted for my first Amex card a fortnight ago. I registered for the bonus 20k but the only problem is that I applied through pointhacks website. Will I still be eligible for the bonus 20k points or will it exclude me because i didn't apply through qantas directly :(?
