Also realised that the upgrade to the Deluxe Edition is 50% off as well

    https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/alan-wake-2--deluxe-upgr…

Meaning you can get the base edition + deluxe upgrade for $53.17 (and get 10% of that back in account credit) vs buying the Deluxe Edition straight up for $106

I can't wait to buy this when it's on GOG.

Unlikely to ever be on goog, the game was funded and produced by Epic, it wouldn't exist without them

    • -1

ahh yes, I will only buy if its on steam or i will only buy when its on physical disc for consoles. now i will buy it if its on gog,
C'mon mate if you gonna support Remedy(devs), do it, otherwise stop with the BS

      • +4

GOG is DRM-free so you keep the game forever. Once Epic Store closes your game is gone. It's not "now i will buy if it its on gog". GOG has been around for decades with higher ethics than Epic or Steam. Not sure why you're taking a hard stance against a good thing.

I support Remedy by buying Alan Wake, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Control on GOG.

At the end of the day the game only exists because of Epic

          • @cille745: I don't know why you're negged but it is true for this game. It'll be the only reason I buy this on epic if I do instead of steam.

        • +1

Agree. We are paying for a digital file. The least we can actually keep it. Ffs.

  • +2

Will pay full price on Steam, for epic $0 best I can do.

      Stupid logic

      • -1

Voting with your wallet is stupid?

I bought this when Epic were giving buyers AW1 remaster, they never sent me the code, support plain ignored my tickets and eventually said flat out told me "we can't re-send the code via email" - after sending me a copy/paste snippet of it to me asking "did you receive this?".

Honestly moronic that they send codes via email for a platform they administer and could just activate the game directly on.

Forced me to pirate it instead, and i certainly won't be buying anything on the epic storefront again unless I have no other option.

    (Great game though)

I was in the same boat and had completely forgotten about their promise. Just looke dinto my emails using the following search Parameter: "epic games" AND alan wake. Found the email and activated the remaster, so thanks for that.
For anyone in the same situation, the send codes expire end of the month so get on it.

Not only is it a resource hog it's only a mid game. Wait until it's $20 and you can spend the rest of your money upgrading your system.

    • +7

How are we going to upgrade our systems with $17.97? A mouse bungee perhaps?

    • +4

some of you need to think more before typing

    • +3

It ran pretty well on my laptop, its performance is pretty okay given how good the graphics are, better than all the UE5 games at least.

And calling it mid is insane, easily one of the best games last year, but you do you.

    • -3

It's a terrible game, so extraordinarily pretentious and "meta". Resident evil 4 remake is an absolute masterpiece of good design compared to this rubbish.

  • +1

One of the most unique gaming experiences I've had in years. Make sure you've played AW1 (remastered preferably) before playing this.

  • Great game, but the jumpscares in this got a bit overwhelming at one point. I had to play with the lights on during these parts

  • +1

    Thanks OP.
Also still includes Alan Wake Remastered which automatically is applied to your library.

  • So epic games seem to have a bad wrap here.is there a reason why?. I just bought AW2 and Ragnarok through Epic..

    • Just Google why Epic sucks. Personally I hate how clunky the client and store is. Special mention to how hard it is to disable achievements, Christ

    • Steam is PC gaming's darling. Gamers love it to the exclusion of everything else it seems - you'll rarely see a justification from these types as to why you shouldn't use that platform.

Personally as someone whose livelihood depends on Steam marketplace I have a love/hate relationship with it. It's essentially a monopoly if you're hoping to enter the PC market. We don't even bother with Epic/Gog these days.

I personally don't mind owning games on the Epic store, but do admit it's third choice for me (GOG being first preference).

  • Meh, it was $40.70 in December 2023, I would have expected more of a drop in a year.

  • +2

I don't buy games on epic unless they're free (which is a problem when I really want own this game).

    • -2

      Cool story.

    • +1

correct, no one should ever buy from epic for sure. It will most likely come out of steam eventually. every game always done if they want to get a good market share with your game and steam represents that for the pc market.

      • Epic Games funded the development of the game. You'd have about the same chances as a Zelda game appearing on Xbox.

        • not sure but I remember hearing about this a long time ago about a zelda game being ported to Xbox https://ideas.fandom.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda:Breath_of_The_Wild(Xbox_One_port)#:~:text=The%20Legend%20of%20Zelda%3A%20Breath%20of%20the%20Wild%20was%20released,Nintendo%20Switch%20port%20of%20Cuphead. did this ever happen?
