@Nousernamehere: There is no required notice. You just forfeit you month, which is paid in advanced.

If the people on the phone told you that, they were wrong, and as you said need more training.

        • I gave a notice of nearly two months LMAO…

      • I would say that's a good thing coz someone being malicious can disconnect your service without you authorising it. Having the phone call requirement, puts some control in place.

        • +1

No it isn’t, explain to me how calling up is more secure than having to log in to your account and cancel that way?

The information they ask for I know of 20-30 people just off the top of my head, can’t say the same at all about that many passwords.

      • do superloop support fast chun of HFC? They didn't last time. they requested to cancel the previous service first.

        • +2

Not sure how old your information is, did a quick search on Whirlpool and they support churning for HFC

How long does it take to churn on HFC?

Typically within 15-20 minutes from when we submit the transfer order to nbn™️, as long as we have retail connectivity.

  • So to confirm… u ovb need to be connected for 2 months to get the free month right like give them 30days notice to cancel or something?

  • +2

I am glad that they are finally offering a free month to try their service.

Back in March I decided to try them alongside with my current ABB connection (you can do that on FTTP). Speeds to the US and Europe were almost twice lower compared to ABB. Sent an email to he customer service team, posted my results on Whirlpool (alongside with some other customers with the same problem). It was not fixed.

So I stayed with ABB and only wasted $75 trying Superloop.

    • Exact opposite for me.

Got fed up with Aussie and their very lacking international speeds from about late Jan to April and decided to churn to SL. Instantly my international speeds went to full line speed (50/20). Aussie have probably improved now with bringing most of their new international network online but I have no need to change when I’m paying less per month with SL.

      • Agreed

      • Same here AussieBB international speeds have been lacking since last few months, especially when using VPN

  • +2

Moved from Internode to Superloop a few months back, connection is constantly around 96Mbps. (St Marys exchange, South Australia)

We have FTTH so the change over process was extremely quick, in fact I had no downtime apart from a setting change in my router. No more random fees, very happy with the service so far.

    • thanks for the feedback. Thinking of getting my connection

  • -1

How does cancellation work with these free offers?
what if i need internet for only 1 month?
when i cancel is it a 30 day notice or pro-rata payment if i cancel part way in a month?

    • I'm interested to know this as well

    • Seems nobody knows the answer. I sent an enquiry to Superloop last week and no response so far. Now we can judge their customer service.

  • great so far am on 100/40 and lowest ive ever gotten is 80/25 but normally sits around 95/35 so i am pleased and this is on fttn

    • So jealous. 90! 90! Omgggg I'm at tpg ADSL and get 3 down and 0.8 up speed. Amazingly shocking

      • That’s ADSL for you. Just wait until you get NBN

  • -1

Vodafone is cheaper, they are offering $69 for the NBN100 for 6 months then back to $89. Why not go with them, what's the advantage of Superloop other than no contract?

    • they are both low-tier RSP's that oversell their POI's

vodafone have also gone back to advertising unlimited*** like they've learnt nothing from the past 20 years of telcos and isps getting fined for doing it

      • Are you saying say throttle after a certain amount?

        • +5

how many good ISPs are creating sock puppets to spam advertising on bargain websites? zero? good to know

now all you need to know is Superloop are doing it here. If you have a good product, why would you think spamming and sock puppeting is the best way to obtain new customers? only retards

      • +6

I wouldn't call Superloop low-tier. Even if their sockpuppeting leaves something to be desired.

    • I don't want to stick with them for 3 years, just for a wifi box that I don't need

    • +6

Vodafone is not really no contract.

You MUST buy their Wi-Fi Hub which they provide for $0 up front but if you cancel within the first 36 months you owe them $5 for every month remaining.

Also, speaking as a Vodafone NBN customer since March 2018, the biggest issues with Vodafone:

      1. International performance is rubbish.
      2. Wi-Fi Hub is mediocre at best… see also 3.
      3. The 4G backup only kinda works. There is a known issue that if you use either of the LAN ports and are on 4G, the Wi-Fi Hub will reboot itself every 5-10 minutes. If you use only Wi-Fi on the Wi-Fi Hub then everything works as intended.
      4. In my experience, Vodafone has an abnormally high number of random dropouts. I can't prove this because NBN has its own issues but I suspect that many of the dropouts I've experienced on HFC are actually Vodafone's doing, not a NBN/local loop issue.

The only thing Vodafone really has going for it is the price, especially if you bundle with Vodafone mobile. But TBH the number of hassles I've had makes the savings a false economy.

ETA: Vodafone's unlimited was a non issue in my experience. Full speed 24x7. There is no domestic congestion, only international performance is woeful.

Hence I'm switching to ABB as of tomorrow (order already submitted; delayed switch date as I had an important video conf today).

what's the advantage of Superloop other than no contract?

Superloop and ABB are basically in the same class. They both have/had issues at various points in time but both aim to be premium offerings; great network, great service.

Vodafone's support is very much like Telstra's; you'd do anything you can to avoid calling. Having used ABB's support, I don't hesitate to call because I'll actually speak to someone clueful.

      • As far as value offering goes it's an attractive offer if requirements are basic. Agree wrt to the $5 should you jump ship, the alternative there is Kogan when they have promos going. For HFC drop outs i believe there are still some router/modem/hfc compatibility gremlins out there if whirlpool is anything to go by, in addition to possible RSP/NBN causes. I nabbed a TP-Link Archer C3150 for our HFC install with Superloop not too long ago and so far so good.

        • For HFC drop outs i believe there are still some router/modem/hfc compatibility gremlins out there if whirlpool is anything to go by, in addition to possible RSP/NBN causes

I was trying not to bloat my post with gory details but in my experience the problem is that the service randomly stops routing any traffic.

The HFC NTD shows all lights green (not entirely trustworthy on its own but read on).

Resetting the Wi-Fi Hub immediately gets me back online with a brand new IP.

I also used a BSD box as my router for many months and during these mysterious outages kicking my DHCP client to get a new IP would result in immediate reconnection (with a new IP).

Hence my suspicion is that Vodafone has some internal systems issue that results in them randomly "forgetting" customer assigned IPs.

It's worth noting in these scenarios that the 4G failover doesn't kick in either. The Wi-Fi Hub's logic for failover is loss of carrier on the WAN port and as the HFC NTD is totally fine the Wi-Fi hub just sits there doing absolutely nothing…

All-in-all it's a very nice product in theory, doesn't work very well in practice.

      • I agree wholeheartedly with your comment.

Domestic is fine, but there are issues elsewhere. Including their terrible IPv6 implementation, and some weird issue where the pings are higher than normal.

      • I am with Voda NBN, speed is not too bad. Okay to stream.

    • Vodafone I believe you need to pay for modem penality if you disconnect with 3 years. $5 a month X the remaining of 36 months.

      care to elaborate why?

      • Let me guess, you hate AMD as well ;)

        • Sorry is this an inside joke in relation to something? Don't understand sorry, just interested in people's experience with this company:)

  • Anyone know what the cancellation notice requirement is for superloop to try out the service?

  • +1

Poor customer service and they do not value existing customers. I advise to stay clear

    • +5

Just noticed that the deal is flagged as sock-puppetting.. this doesn't surprise me from this company

    • +1

I've never experienced poor customer service with them.
Their sales were helpful and not pushy at all and their tech support was extremely helpful. Straight to the point and upfront about the issues.
What issues did you have with them?

    • +1

I was migrated to them from Skymesh earlier in the year.

Quality wise on FTTN, it was fine. Some minor slow down in peak but usually it wasn't too bad.

Service wise, the only time I called them was to cancel and it still took them over 30min to take my call. The Customer Service Rep was lovely though, couldn't fault her service whatsoever which was great.

Apart from that, I sent an email to their Support email once (December 19) querying the migration from Skymesh. After receiving no response, by January 9, I contacted the Rep on Whirlpool who was very helpful and told me to forward the email to him. I then received a good response on January 17 from the Whirlpool Rep.

Overall, I still recommend them. Peak speeds were better than Skymesh. The only reason I left them and went to Exetel was my special discounted pricing from the Skymesh migration was soon to expire and I couldn't really afford the increased charge.

      • -2

Sounds like a lot of trouble to get a reply to me

      • What do you think of Exetel? Speed-wise

  • Signed up late March, been extremely happy..

  • When will this deal expire? I've already paid for my internet for the rest of this month and they wont refund the un-used pro-rata'd amount (Aussie Broadband)

  • +1

FWIW - As like most others, I have the $79 unlimited deal running out shortly. I contacted AussieBB via phone and live chat, but they weren't interested in extending that $79 deal any further. Said they were happy to lose me a customer elsewhere, and then I can sign back up at any time.

Looks like I'll be churning to this deal now, and will wait for the next $79 unlimited 100/40 deal from Aussie.

    • +1

wow best customer service award this year goes to… ABB!

    • I am paying ABB $79 for 50 mbps speed.

      • 100/40 here. Not for much longer!

  • Do any of their plans include a $0 casual basis landline phone line? I.e. just to receive calls?

    • Superloop does not provide VoIP services.

      • They don't provide it at this time. Apparently VoIP is coming, but they've been saying that for about 6 months now, so who knows…

    • +3

I would never recommend you sign up your VoIP with your NBN provider, too many headaches switching, and possibly losing your number! (This is coming from experience)

Check out MyNetFone, their WHIRLPOOLSAVER plan is boss. I don't think there's a DID charge if you're porting a number to them either.

      • I need to get a NBN plan for my parents place, And they still need their phone / phone no. Is your method easy to use / set up? I havent had much experience with VOIP , i did have a siptalk plan for my parents to call international. But In terms of using a normal portable / handset phone how can i set that up for my parents and keep their no.? I was specifically looking around for NBN plans with phone just for this reason.

  • I don't really think anyone signed up with this offer, as the Date of birth field at the end is off by 1 day back….

  • How do they address New Estate fee?

    • Probs make you pay it. I got a awesome deal with Telstra who waived it 2 years ago, and I got basic fox and speed Boost on top for $99. They wouldn't honor it after it finished of course but I churned to Exetel after that

  • Hmm Exetel are still cheaper and my speeds have been decent

    • You are at what location/post code/fttn/or?

      • Central Coast NSW, was getting 80mbps yesterday on FTTN on their 100mbps deal while on a 2 month free trial, used to get close to 90mbps on a good day with Telstra I'm one of the lucky ones

        • Gonna drop to their 50mbps tier would have left it but need to save $$$

        • Thanks but yours are far away from mine.

  • do they throttle torrents like tangerine?

    • +3

yep, hate Tangerine for this reason

    • +4

Somewhat unfair comparison. Exetel's pricing you mention is for a 12month contract whereas Superloop is month-to-month. A 12month contract is often pretty unappealing to many for various reasons.

      Month-to-month over 12months:
      Exetel - $840 + modem
      Superloop - $824.50 + modem

      2nd year:
      Exetel - $840
      Superloop - $900

So it's still in Exetel's favour over 2 years, but it's a lot closer than your original point.

    • +5

There is simply no comparison between the quality of the Superloop and Exetel network. Superloop has it hands down. Even Exetel uses Superloop fibre.

      • +3

        Dat boi likes to winge

  • so can you cancel right away?

  • +2

I find them good, better than Aussie Broadband. With that said I'm NOR Perth, hard to find a decent ISP here especially for gaming on xbox. Too many strange routes from Perth to Sydney to Perth to Singapore etc. on Telstra and AussieBB for me.
Jumped back to AussieBB just a few weeks ago after being on Superloop for a few months and AussieBB was terrible compared to the previous 15+ months I had with them.
DCSI sent NBN around to fix my connection before I even complained about dropouts. The NBN tech said corrosion on my HFC connection was causing trouble. Aussie Broadband never showed any interest in my intermittent connectivity after months of logs and emails.
Only tried Aussie Broadband again because my line had been fixed, but it was hideous. Also thought that the network upgrades would have made a difference.

    • +1

hm, interesting to know that, I am at NOR Perth too. Just switched back to ABB yesterday after some bad experience with Tangerine (internet keeps DC and throttle on torrents). Should I give SL a go as its slightly cheaper than ABB for 50 mb plan, lol?

      • -1

Interesting, would you happen to be on HFC? Were the disconnections long or short lived?
Have never tried Tangerine but it's definitely worth signing up to Superloop for a month, you could always leave again! I find Superloop is better for both browsing and gaming.
I torrent a heap but mostly through vpn (Astrill using AsusWRT Merlin add-on) and get 96/38 torrent speed 24/7. Similar to Aussie performance. Because I torrent through vpn it may be obfuscated to the extent the ISP doesn't know I'm torrenting.

  • Any reps from Superloop able to assist?

My property is NBN RFS and a few other providers are able to connect immediately but when I checked in on the Superloop website, it says that service is not available currently.

    Any clues?

    Ta

    • I believe this is due to the address checker caching the result of the lookup; Superloop support are able to force a refresh on your address.

    • Also having the same issue.

      • Still no reply. Guess I'll be going with abb.

        • They are not answering any queries, emailed sales team twice last week and this Monday, no response. I am sure usually sales team will be the most responsive one, but not for superloop. Too bad, I will be going with Exetel then. Will not risk myself if any issue once connected with superloop and left in limbo as no help exists.

  • I guess I must be one of the lucky ones, because I seem to not get lower than 96m at night, or even during peak… And I'm with the not so great Optus :'(

I do notice during the day I'm always between 96m-98m, but then again, my exchange is exactly 2 blocks away… I also donnu if an exchange is actually used these days, as when I traceroute the first step is somewhere in the city…

  • Can you future date the transfer to superloop?

  • no landline service

    • +2

Not many need at this century

  • -4

    $75.. what a joke.

  • I got my line NBN activated this morning, the technician speed tested it and told me its ready to go.

My modem is 'nbn ready' but its not connecting it.

There are no setup guides on superloop website. Can anyone give me any tips on how to get it to connect?

I tried to call superloop but I had to get to work, so hung up after being on hold for 25 mind.

    • Depends, what access technology are you on and what’s the modem you have?

      • All sorted now thanks ! It was FTTB and my modem/router was still in PPOE mode. (instead of Dynamic IP).

    • This what I got in email when my nbn connection automatically switched on to superloop - Great News! Your NBN service is now complete and ready to use! You will need to connect your router to your telephone socket. The required configuration for your modem/router will need to be IPoE / Dynamic IP.

  • Is this like a free trial? As in I am allowed to cancel without obligations upon the end of trial month?
Because it's month-to-month, I shouldn't have an obligation to continue correct?
Also the place we're moving may not have a nbn-ready modem, do I still need to get a modem? While signing up, the website said "it's not required", I'm confused.

  • Still haven't responded to any enquiry and wait times when trying to call are terrible.

  • just check superloop is not in my area yet! Anyone in postcode 3152 VIC can advise which is the best NBN provider in my area? I need to signup urgently. Thank you.

  • I just paid for a new month, can I choose when the service get churned over?

  • Switched from Tangerine due to awful evening speeds. Just speed tested 9pm at 94mbps so very happy so far for the first evening

  • 50/20 still $10 over my budget

    • Exetel will be within your budget

  • Any chance we can set a "preferred/future connection date" field in the Customer Signup?
    Thanks OP

  • Moved over to Superloop from Aussie BB today. Same speeds so far 8ms latency to any Perth Servers @ 95mbit/37mbit

  • +1

Just changed mine today from Aussie broadband to superloop , after so many daily disconnections and speed downgrade to less than 30mbps . Today my superloop connection hit 42mbps In average . Thanks Superloop
