UPDATE: Many users are reporting cancelled orders due to a pricing error

Amazon have now started emailing to advise of the cancellation and are giving $30 vouchers per order. You can check your coupons here. For the record my order of 3 was cancelled and I received the $30 gift voucher too. The drives would have been great but I'm also pretty happy with this compensation. Congratulations to anyone who gets their order delivered.

Insane price for the 10TB WD My Book external hard drive. Limit to 3 per customer, and remember to use cashback. I grabbed 3 for $389.52 + Free Delivery with Prime.

Auto backup with included WD Backup software and Time Machine compatibility
Password protection with hardware encryption
Trusted storage built with WD reliability

Note on prices above $400

Some people are seeing prices over $400 and the item being listed by a different seller. This could be due to a variety of reasons such as cookies, account preferences or perhaps they are not logged in. @miguellin737: If you don't have a neural uplink of OzBargain directly into your frontal cortex don't even @ me

            • @Merlict: @Merlict pfft, frontal cortex does too much thinking. Buy now think later is the ozbargain way, Amygdala or gtfo

              • @MrtheMoonbear: I'm keen to know what you mean by amygdala? Cause amygdala is responsible for emotions not thinking… Thinking is by wernicke's

    • The Zeroth Law of OzBargain: When you do not check OzBargain, the deal you have been waiting for will appear, only to expire shortly before checking OzBargain.

  • And now the deal has broken 1.2k upvotes. Congrats to all who have had their orders shipped.

I ordered at 5.22 and am still waiting too (May 29 - June 3 delivery).

    • +1

Yeah I ordered at 5:29 eastern, still no delivery email. F5 F5 F5!

    • I order one of this before you post this deal ,, ~5pm ,, no shipping details as yet, though the money deducted.
For other two I purchased after OZB post, no update as yet…

  • +11

a reminder to register your drive once it arrived, and open a support ticket to request an Australian plug power supply.

They will send it via Fedex.

I've got two sent to me (2 separate drives)

just make sure they send the Australian plug, not the multi-plug which has the Chinese one. They've done this twice so I had to ask them to send the AU one.

This is all free of charge

    • WD send it out?

Hey guy's long time lurker first time posting….just wanted to add that my order has been locked and from what the rep i spoke to said it won't be shipped..Hope everyone else has better luck in the Hard Drive lotto..Here is a few lines from the chat i had with the rep.

He also stated to me that if any orders where shipped they would be canceled and refunded.

12:11 PM AEST Siraj Ahmed: I have just checked and could see this item is no longer available with amazon as of now because there was a listing error.

I'm not sure if this item will be shipped.

WD My Book Desktop External Hard Drive 10TB

12:11 PM AEST Siraj Ahmed: Any order shipped shall be returned to warehouse and refund will be issued.

12:12 PM AEST Siraj Ahmed: Because it is from US warehouse it should be canceled very soon

    • +6

Any order shipped shall be returned to warehouse and refund will be issued.

      Haha no.

      • +1

I've had orders shipped across the US, before being cancelled and shipped back. :\ Their supply chain often doesn't end until the thing is just about at your door.

When I asked why it was cancelled they chastised me for ordering something that clearly said it didn't ship to Australia (it did when I ordered it, OBVIOUSLY)…

        • Wow, so the chances that someone will actually get the hdd is pretty low?

    • +2

Don't get why someone neg'ed you. I know we all want ours delivered, but deep down, we know this deal is too good to be true unfortunately.
Oh well… my mates who missed out won't be upset then.

      • I've had a fair few OzB deals that were too good to be true / the seller was making a loss. I can see (some) people getting these.

        • Agreed. First lot / dispatched ones - congratulations to those.

However, for slow people like me, with 1000+ orders from OZB and two weeks for Amazon to react (since most of ours are on backorder), the chance of Amazon being that slow and fail to correct a pricing error is low.

          • @netsurfer: Amazon is in control of the logistics they can and have cancelled and recalled shipped orders in the past, unfortunately. Not the same thing as other sellers who hand off to another courier earlier in the process.

    • Why was it locked? Can you show a screenshot what it looks like if it’s locked?

    • +1

Any order shipped shall be returned to warehouse and refund will be issued

That doesn't make sense. Why would anyone receiving the item(s) bother wasting time returning them for a refund? They would just keep the item(s).

      • +6

I've had amazon cancel an order due to a price error after it already shipped and had arrived in Australia, but hadn't yet been delivered. Was shipped back to America.

        • +1

Thanks for the info, so their couriers can intercept and have the items shipped back to Amazon… :(

          • +1

@netsurfer: Amazon usually 'is' the courier, in the US up to the door, for Australia, at least until it's on a plane on its way here.

            • @[Deactivated]: Raistlin indicated the item actually arrived in Australia (which meant it was either DHL, UPS or AusPost) and still got sent back.

              • @netsurfer: Since they opened here they might be actually handling the US > AU connection themselves now, not sure.

                • @[Deactivated]: Not here, not yet. Even Amazon USA still rely on USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL. They're trying out last leg in some US cities, but still early days.

With such high volume, they are the VIP for every logistics company.

                  • @netsurfer: Will be a long time before they do the last leg here, but looked it up to be sure for the flight portion, looks like only 39 aircraft so far, none flying outside the US. (Although they do make it as far as Hawaii.)

Guessing these orders, particularly if 3x drives will be large enough to be worth recalling through a third party.

    • +2

"shipped".. presuming then they had not left the warehouse yet….

      hopefully a few slip through….

    • Can you tell me what time you ordered? Did your order ever reach the shipped status?

    • party pooper

      • +1

        Wrong site

        xxx

  • +5

Yeah no idea for the neg just wanted to share what info i was provided…I really wanted mine shipped to.Hope you guys have better luck :)

  • Mines not cancelled yet..

Just a confirmation email and shipping as of the third.

    • That e-mail is pretty useless (a lot of people have it). That's 2 weeks from now and if Amazon CSR already noticed this is a pricing error, 2 weeks is plenty of time for them to cancel.

      • Of course. Here's to being hopeful though!

    • Hahahaha…. this is getting negged hard. Let's see how hard…. k go :)

      • I'm ok with this, they might offer some credit which is still win win for me.

        • Isn't it only one win?

  • Ordered two at 7:11 PM AEST. Payment not yet taken and thats something unusual

    Will dispatch - Jun 3
    Arriving Jun 11 - Jun 24

If these reach me then this would be my best ever oz-bargain

    • Payment not yet taken and thats something unusual

it isn't. for the Dove sale, I got charged 3 weeks after purchase. it was the same as this deal, 1-2 weeks to delivery.

  • Ordered mine at 1736pm AEST
    Showing Will Dispatch May 20th
    Arriving 29th to 2nd June
But still haven't been charged yet, so who knows

    • +1

      amazon gives them for free

  • Are you able to put this external hard drive on its side? As I don’t think it will fit next to my Xbox one when standing up

    • I prefer side ways. A lot safer from being nocked over.

      • Does it have little rubbers or something so it can be put sideways?

        • +1

I have an 8TB MyBook and it only has rubber feet on the bottom so it sits vertically. Western Digital don't recommend putting it on its side because of the potential for overheating. They have vents on top, and because heat rises, putting it on its side means it won't dissipate heat as efficiently and may shorten the drive's life.

          • @mortyestmorty: What are the measurements of it standing?

            • @Twisty: 170mm high, 140mm deep and 50mm wide. I think WD also recommend it having a little breathing space on the sides as well as the top.

        • Prolly.

          Thai.

      • Agreed. Hell, I'd dynabolt them to the floor, with a heavy cage over the top… if i could. I had an external drive on its side, microscopic bump of the cable, and it was a slow-motion NOOOOoooOOOoo topple… couldn't grab it in time. INSTANT DEATH. They're DESKTOP drives, truly designed to be inside a computer.
Dumbest design i've seen, ~10 years ago, was single drive standing VERTICAL, with small footprint. BEGGING to topple. /facepalm

This is awesome - I ordered mine at 3:55pm WST, originally had Arriving: Wednesday, June 5 - Tuesday, June 18, and I just received an email to say that it has just been shipped. Woohoo!

    • I pray for you. In return please do the same for me :)

      • Oh just saw the post above about cancelling orders after they have shipped. Fingers crossed then.

  • +1

    Hello,

    We have reinstated your account.

For your security, we cancelled this order when we could not confirm your information

WTF is going on here, false drama????

    • New member to Amazon or Prime?

      • Yes, what does that have to do with cancelling my order, I was on promo prime, then cancelled to free and now again on on pay prime, paid. And I had orderes before. Doesn't make any sense at all.

        • When you signed up did you use all real info? I.e. real address, credit card under your name? Etc….

          • @TomGum: Yes, everything real. I made purchases with that name, address, card already, and they charged me now for prime. Have no idea why the cancellation.

            • @drazenm: Then I have no clue!! I’d be pissed if I get that as a reason for cancelation!!

              • @TomGum: Well that's why I'm pissed! 😂

                • -2

@drazenm: Happened to me once when i wasnt a new a user and i had already had prime for a while. They have some formula that keeps track of unusually large purchases or purchases not common to that account or something and then it automatically gets locked .

This anticipation has well and truly filled the void from Game of Thrones finishing up…

    • +8

I have STOPPED eating, sleeping, socialising with family and friends, working, house work. All I now do is F5 on 2 websites!!

      • Hhahaa.

      • We'll have to see whether Amazon always pays their debts?

      • +1

Cannot wait to store 30TB worth of porn videos?

  • +1

i just checked my account, i ordered mine around 5:30pm yesterday, i only received an confirmation email of the order, on my amazon account it says ships out on the 20th, which is tomorrow, but others from here ordered after me already had their order shipped??i don't get it.

    • I think we have to wait for the dust of 22k+ clicks to settle.

      • +2

That was just AU. Went off just as much in UK, Germany, NZ, USA, as well.

  • +1

I wonder if they do this on purpose to get people to buy prime? It worked on me..

    • +1

Lol no. This was offered in the US (and sold 10s of thousands) where it didn't need prime for shipping.

      • Thats true, I didn't even consider that.

    • +1

      Yep, worked for me too.

      Got Prime since last year.

  • +1

Bought one from the previous deal for $250 from the same supplier. I am now getting error messages saying the disk is dirty after backing up to it. Stopped working after filling it up with 4TB.

    • did you do a WD diagnostic test prior to using the drive?

Also did you shuck the drive or using it as an external drive?

      • Thanks for reply. I didn't do any checks, is this usual to do? The HD comes formatted with exFat and I couldn't add or delete files from drive but could open any file. I reformatted to NTFS and started again. We have video surveillance and the guy from Toll just dropped the Amazon box, which had no padding inside the box, on the concrete step at the front door. Should be interesting who is responsible if he broke the drive, Toll, Amazon for no padding, or WD?

        • Did you open the hard disk's case?

          • @nfr: No, just started copying files.

  • +1

It says mine is sent and there is a charge on my card …. fingers crossed :/

    • What time did your order go through last night (e.g. when did you received the order confirmation email from amazon)?

      • +1

my order confirmation email was 17:40 yesterday. i now have a Fastway tracking number and it says its arriving tomorrow :O

        • Arriving tomorrow from the US, wow

          • @Merlict: it's a Fastway tracking number so it must be in australia i assume? the charge was from amazon Sydney
i have no idea, that's what my account says

        • +1

          WTF WTF WTF…

I feel like crying!! I am really happy for you!!

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT-KrLEMRrY

        • Niceee. How many did you order?

          • @cyrax83: I ordered two for our raid server to mirror. hopefully it's not just all BS and it actually shipped. The charge on my card is definitely real. We've ordered a lot using amazon prime lately, maybe they took pity on the spending spree and actually sent it rolleyes

        • i now have a Fastway tracking number and it says its arriving tomorrow :O

          likely wrong
Have the same thing for an 8tb i ordered last week that was 'expected for delivery' in 2 days
its in fastways 'system' but its coming from the US and wont have fastway info till it hits Sydney

          • @SBOB: probably the case :( it seems too good to be true. at least they are good about refunds

  • +1

One of mine is now saying will dispatch. Uh. Interesting. Order time 8pm yesterday Sydney time

  • Number one best seller in Computers now… I guess tonight will tell how many go through.

    • Why tonight?

      • In a few hours it's going to be Monday morning and someone's going to be in for a busy day

        • Hmmm in about 6.5 hours or so….
