You'd be bonkers to buy the SN770 over the KC3000 (a tier above SN770, more comparable to the SN850x) which is $6 cheaper and has local warranty. YMMV with Amazon importing from USA.

    • There's a place for this. While technically slower, the WD_BLACK SN770 is a better choice for laptops due to its superior power efficiency and thermals. The KC3000, on the other hand, runs hot and has high power consumption.

      • That's fair enough. Although I would be iffy on warranty through Amazon since it's from US.

it wasnt too bad for me when I got some RAM in the past and had to return it

The rep refunded me the shipping cost as well to return it and then got a full refund of the item

Another option to consider is the SanDisk Extreme 2TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD for $185 shipped from CentreCom. This model is essentially a re-badged WD_BLACK SN770, identical down to the component and firmware level.

I recently bought the 1TB version, updated the firmware, and confirmed it’s now running the latest version: 731120WD. As expected, this is the same firmware used in the SN770.
