20 grams of sugar per serve.

You're bloody joking yourself if you think you're doing your body any favors drinking this liquid garbage.

4.5 out of 5 health star rating, get the absolute f**k out of here.

    • +1

It's criminal they're allowed to game the system with the 'health' star rating (profanity).

Probably going to end up putting hundreds of millions of dollars of pressure on the health system when all is said and done. Seems like an incredibly shortsighted money making scheme by govt.

      All carbs are sugar.

Would you say the same thing about white bread.

      • +1

        Yes :)

    • +4

Go for reduced sugar then, cuts 2 tsps of sugar out, but sugar is the least of your problems:

Vegetable gums (460 can affect gut flora, 466 suspected carcinogen, flatulence, intestinal discomfort, diarrhoea, 407 which is Carrageenan, has recently been linked with cancer and affects gut flora.)
Stabiliser (452) - Linked to kidney stones

      Fun times!

      • +1

Seriously, if you are looking at all the additives you'll scare yourself into not eating anything.

I've never experienced intestinal discomfort, (increased) flatulence, diarrhoea or kidney stones drinking these.

Just breathing in the air outside can contain carcinogens. Especially in a city.

I understand, but wouldn't you want to be informed and make better decisions to limit your risk.

You may get, it's not guaranteed.

Like my father, who has smoked for 80 years and still hasn't missed a beat. But someone else who smokes for 5 years and gets lung cancer.

          Up to you.

          • @RocketSwitch: That's a good point but where does one draw the line?

I don't have stuff like this all that often but when I do it's out of necessity.

Why does it always happen that the most convenient of things have these kind of things.

I'm not exactly going to start my own farm and veggie patch over it.

            • @pennypincher98: I agree, I usually have a 70% good and 30% bad ratio.

I try to make it a habit and a mindset change.

Can still be bad, but not all the time.

      • sugar is the least of your problems

It's really not, that's the main problem.

Sugar also affects gut bacteria negatively which is why it's inceasingly being linked to the mental health epidemic. Maybe (just kidding) this why large pharmaceutical business is buying large food processors so they can control the main reason for doping 50% of the population with psychological drugs such as SSRIs.

    sugar rubbish

    • Maybe try a reduced sugar?

Personally the energise ones are the only ones I like (mainly because of the protein needed in my diet - has even more sugar than the normal ones though haha)

      • +1

Sucked in by the protein marketing… Its the new wave of bullshit on every box

        • +1

I sometimes don't have time for breakfast.
Given my options are greasy shit that's more expensive at Macca's or sugary shit that's cheaper…

          I don't buy it thinking it's healthy.

    • +1

If you’re fairly active sugar content doesn’t really matter. I smash 1 - 2 after my gym workout in the morning then head to work. Both protein and carbs will enhance glycogen storage and muscle protein synthesis. I have a complete breakfast about 9am. But don’t rely on these as meal replacement or protein source.
