10-inch woofer - 100W Peak power
(Watts RMS unlisted, my guess is 50-60W)
Frequency response: 30-200hz

Cheap subwoofer option with advanced controls (level/cross-over/phase).
For those who want to spend a similar amount to what they paid for their soundbar/bookshelf’s.

Discontinued product. Only 1 Year manufacturers warranty according to Sherwood.

Lack of after sale support (manufacturer warranty/product support) so best you will get is a refund.
10-inch woofer powered by slightly under-powered amp.
This enclosure is big (not in a good way) 40x40x40cm, makes it harder to place.
Solid sounding subwoofer if you aren’t pushing it (source: forums(forums.whirlpool.net.au) .)

Crossed this off my list, too large a box, too large a woofer, lack of after sale support.

Looking for a sub to connect to my YAS 108. Is there anything you might suggest between $100-$200

    • This or the compact Cerwin Vega in my other deal.
The Cerwin Vega XD8s is of similar design to subwoofers which usually come with soundbars like the YAS-207.
YAS-207 sub has a 6.5inch driver, while the Cerwin Vega has an 8-inch driver and also has advanced controls (cross-over/phase, pass-through functions) to properly cross-it-over (tune & set it up) with your YAS-108.

    • If you are willing to extend your budget, and want that real ‘punch’ in the bass when watching movies.
You could try the Dali subwoofer in my recent deal, with 170watts RMS driving a 9-inch long-stroke aluminium woofer.
I personally would pass on this being from Grays (reputation of ‘brand new’ description being false), but it’s a good price for what it is.

    • Sherwood at one stage was a known HiFi brand, and their products are built to corresponding specifications.
The product in the deal being a slightly older model, I imagine it is built to Hi-Fi standards.
Keep in mind this means the sound quality is accurate and pleasing, and if you are looking for earth-shaking bass you need to be looking elsewhere (this particular model has an under-powered amp for a 10-inch driver).
There was a whirlpool post I linked originally which said the quality of the bass kept up with larger and much more expensive subwoofers.

I have never heard of ‘Skytronics’ before and I imagine it may have more outright power (200w seems to be peak power -Sherwood has 100w peak), although Peak numbers can be inflated.
I would expect the Skytronics to last as long as you expect cheap components to last.
I would buy neither if you want extremely powerful bass for movies though.

Edit: You will probably get a lot of port-noise on the Skytronics, as the port looks narrower than the Mordaunt Short 8-inch subwoofer which suffers from port-noise.
