    • Also keen to try out a Delter. Hard to rationalise buying one when I own and love the Aeropress…but the technology looks interesting

      • +3

I have both now, the delter press produces an amazingly clean coffee, but it's not as easy to clean, the "puck" doesn't really pop out like it does with the aeropress. I have not used my ap since my delter arrived.

Currently doing 16g for 225g water, 50ml press for the first 30, then pressing the rest from 60sec to 120sec.

Is there any reason to get this over a french press?

    • +2

Much cleaner cup of coffee, less coffee grounds in the bottom and fast!

      • I'm not fussed about the grounds or speed - I tend to chuck a few scoops and the water in my French press then hop in the shower and then plunge.

But what's a 'cleaner' cup of coffee? I'm now wondering if I like it dirty ;)

    • +1

Wondered the same. I love a really strong coffee, and 2 cups every morning.
This article here persuades me to stay with my plunger, mainly due to the comments regarding getting a more robust, stronger aroma / bite with the French press.

      • +2

I use both and the French press definitely gives more of a bitey flavour. AeroPress is smooth, but if you’re used to a punchy flavour I’d stick with the plunger.

Have been using one of these babies for around 6 months - makes a great, quick coffee

  • This is every day price @ Snowys, how is this a bargain?

    • I didn’t check Snowys. I also hadn’t looked into buying an Aeropress for very long so didn’t shop around much. Just saw the price and the RRP so thought it was good. My bad I guess.

  • one of the only problems I have with it, is when you need to make multiple cups of coffee..

  • since when 40% off becomes "pretty much 50% off"? using the same logic, it is pretty much 30% off!

    • +2

      The logic was $29.95/$59 = 0.5076 hence 50% off.

    • By the logic in your comment it's pretty much 60% off…

  • Aeropress is a great device and always take it with me when I travel.
I use the inverted method for a stronger cup and I don’t think I could have survived the US without this.
It packs small if you take out the plunger and reverse it.
I’m one of the lazy ones at home who use a Nespresso.

    • The portability of it seems amazing. Would be great to take camping to brew a nice hot coffee on a cold winter morning!

  • Has anyone tried the American press? Have been told it’s much easier however a bit pricey.

  • Isn't 2.0 coming out very soon?

  • +2

Got one (from Snowys) thanks OP

Anyone recommend the cheapest source for a Hario ceramic burr grinder to go with it, or the like?

  • Can never get great coffee out of this thing and I've tried different beans, different grind sizes, different brewing temps, etc. Just pales in comparison to my espresso machine. I know I'm the odd one out, this device gets rave reviews by everyone else.

  • Any deals or bundles with the fellow prismo?

  • Absolutely hands down the best way to make coffee. Combine this with a Porlex grinder and you’re in coffee heaven. As a side note, after a year of using the mesh filter, I’m now using the paper ones. I prefer the smoother taste they give…

    • Invest in a better grinder and then you will reach heaven+

I have a Timemore slim, Soo much better than a porlex

  • I’ve had one for two years and still in love with it. Makes excellent coffee and clean-up couldn’t be simpler.

I'd get this if it wasnt plastic - prefer a stainless steel, glass or ceramic French press

    • BPA free apparently

I bought one while drunk in Europe since good coffee was getting hard to find. Not really a fan. I prefer espresso-based coffee overall. However, between this and a French press, the only advantage really is that it's easier to clean. Somebody went ahead and released a French press with a removable bottom, which has negated this benefit. The Aeropress is annoying, you need a cup that won't break and then some leaks out the sides occasionally. For a French press, you just add the beans, add the water, wait a little bit and then pour it out. It's even easier to store the components in a small French press than the Aeropress and you don't need to buy additional replacement filters (though yes, you can buy a metal disk for the Aeropress that makes it slightly harder to clean). The French press can be bought from Kmart for $3.

that's a different brewing method though

you could tie up coffee grounds in a chux wipe and suspend it in water to save some more money

  • @sbjel1 any discount on the flair espresso maker?
