in before the "in before the price jacking comments" comments

    • +26

      in after 'in before' comments

      • +1

But you replied to an 'in before' comment. ;)

        • +2

But he said he'd be in after the 'in before' commments :D

          • +2

@Chickenleg: Guess I was in before reading the comment properly!

      • How is this any more off topic than lowlifesphere comment?

    • +4

Ausluck already have their iphone XS miles above RRP.

I thought ebay promised to crack down on this.

      • +21

Where did they promise that they'll crack down on this? Price jacking is the only way eBay can keep this charade going.

        • +5

“All sellers who take part in our retail promotions are subject to contractual terms and conditions that prohibit this type of activity and we will continue to enforce these as part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring genuine value is offered by our sellers.”

          https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/ebay-slammed…

          • +16

@[Deactivated]: Lol. Smoke and mirrors. It seems clear to me that Ebay said that so that they had something to hide behind for legal purposes and they never had any intention of actually enforcing their rules.

(If previous OzB comments are true.. and I think they originated from a seller who was offered to be a part of a sale like this, ebay pays 5% and the seller pays 15%. If ebay were serious, they would not ask the seller to pay anything and then they would enforce their rules).

          • +7

            @[Deactivated]: Good link.

"An eBay spokeswoman said the 20 per cent off referred to the discount on the sellers’ pre-established list price — which cannot change seven days prior to the start of the sale through to the end.

I do not think this is true, eBay. I've seen prices jacked just as the discount code goes live.

        • eBay always says it's not their fault and claim that rogue sellers are the ones who mislead.

eBay just don't realise or care that their brand is being hurt. Even if they are rogue sellers and ultimately eBay isn't responsible as they don't sell the products, the price jacking makes eBay an untrustworthy site for shopping.

Imagine if eBay actually wanted to be a shopping site with true sale prices? Imagine if they wanted people to trust their prices? This sort of price-jacking behaviour would take years to erase from buyers' minds.

Wake up eBay! Smell the roses! Your sales are untrustworthy!! You brand is being tarnished. Your "sell at all costs" attitude is turning shoppers off!

        I'm waiting for 106% off 20 stores

      • +3

Why would you believe a corporation with a long history of doing the wrong thing claiming they'll do the right thing when it loses them money?

      • Why? I don't want the govt mandating what shops can sell stuff for.

    • +1

In before the "I would rather 106% off 20 sellers" comment

    • Do the mods copy and paste the comments from every previous eBay sale?

  • +19

Waits patiently for the search link to come through

    • +7

It's been 5 minutes.. And no search link to be seen…

      • +3

Starting to think this one's a dud!

        • +19

          No, that's me!!!

      • +11

It has now been 10 minutes! I'm not sure what to do with my life now.

        • +1

          just ozbargain now, regret later

        • I think BlazingPast needs a sacrifice first

          • @Rsalim:

I think BlazingPast needs a sacrifice first

The mods need to unban "Angry Chicken".

        • +1

In ten minutes you could have done something useful with your life and created the search link yourself for everyone.

  • +3

    Where’s the partridge?

  • +1

Futu and GraysOnline are very regular, good stores.

    • +6

      Grays - Yes
Futu- No. They are cheapest sometimes, but discount is 5-7% not 20 % as stated.

      • +1

And often easy to beat the the generic 5% off site-wide (which we all expect and feel entitled to).

        • +2

True. Thats why I buy from futu as last resort or if I cant find a product cheaper else where.

  • +2

    No Zzz Atelier again? :(

    • Am totally waiting on a matress as well.

      • +31

Am totally waiting on a matress as well.

At least you're waiting in comfort!

    • +1

+1. It seemed after the last controversy about the mattress quality which involved an official Atelier rep (not the eBay one) in early September, the zzz Atelier eBay store no longer participates in these 20% sales.

  • +3

Hope BlazingPast is Blazing Fast with the search link.

    • +16

It's been 11 minutes. Should we file a missing persons?!

      • +1

They should investigate Charcoal, he might've done something to BlazinPast to take the glory.

  • +1

i grabbed something at 20% off on the PODCAST code and they advised me though no longer sell the product nor can they get it… they are still listing the product.. i suspect they didn't want to take the loss.. (It is the seller that absorbs the 20% yeah?)

    • +1

I was under the impression it was a bit of both sides.

      • +1

jokes on them this code works on another product they sell. similar discount and product type :) going to try again. If they tell me the same ill report em..

        • That's fair enough. It's these sort of dodgey sellers that really tarnish the rep of these sort of sales.

    • +3

In 20% sale, ebay and the seller share 10% each.

      • +2

Ebay 5% seller 15% I believe. From previous OzB comments.

        • Possibly it depends on what category your products fall into. For Tyres & Wheels category, it is what I mentioned above.

        • +1

wow no wonder they price jack.

        • I think it would depend from sale to sale and seller to seller.

If it were someone they wanted to get on board, then ebay would pay all of it.

    Any good nvidia shield deals?

    • Maybe deals on a new mouse and keyboard instead?

  • something something no computer alliance no deal something

    Search Link

Here is a crappy search link with missing sellers until Blazin comes in makes this post a thing of the Past.

    • +2

You're the hero we need but don't deserve.

      • +2

I'd probably go with: The hero you don't need but deserve ;)

      • +3

        insert over-used Reddit/OzBargain meme here.

    • +7

You're the half arse hero we needed!

    • so crappy, it just might does work..well done

  • Sorry, BlazingPast is on holiday…

  • Do we have any existing running deal to buy ebay discounted gift cardS?

  • +1

Thanks TA. I appreciate you and all the money you save me.

    • +10

Or I hate you and all the money you make me spend? XD

  • is first choice normally in the 20% off sale?

there must be some bargains at 20% off?

    • +1

No they're normally not in it, it's a great addition. Definitely good prices usually on spirits.

    • +4

Currently $77 on Ardbeg 10 & $97 on Lagavullin 16. Surely they can’t take 20% off those? If no price jacking tomorrow I’ve no idea how I’ll sneak 24 bottles past my wife.

      • +3

easy: just carry them in your tummy!

      • good german pilsner Radeberger currently $40.. a steal at $32 !! Vladimir Putins proffered beer when stationed in east Germany. Also Oban worth a look… giddy up!

  • is the sony 1000xm3 under any of these stores?

  • +1

Where's BlazingPast when this country needs him badly?

    • He will save us.. He always does..

    Price Jacker's Galore….

    Macbook 2018 13" 512GB - $3298 @ Sydneytec!

    Less 20% = $2638. More like a 10% OFF ON THE ACTUAL $2999 RRP.

    What's the point?

I think we are really here just to reproduce.

      • +2

        …and collect watches

    • The Burgers are Better at HJ ;)

      • I wouldn't mix burgers and a hj

  • +9

I wonder if Futu have a couple of folks on staff with the Job Title of 'Price jacker' whose sole responsibility all day is to jack then unjack then re-jack prices in line with the ebay discounting schedule.

    • I think ebay store applications or whatnot make that easy :p

    • +1

Is that the reason why they always in the sales so they don't have to unjack?

    • Picked up an iphone 6s from them in a previous sale for a great price. Looking for another but they haven't had any in stock for a while.

    • At this point they can just keep there prices Jacked, they are always in the promotions.

    • Yes there is, just e-commerce admin role. Used to work with those guys, they always have to get to office early to staying late to update prices in Magento. The stock system is already hooking up with ebay. Ez

  • Thanks Ozbargain, saved me $20,000 on an Elvis Presley ring.

    • +2

      In the ghetto

  • +1

So unfortunate that ozb has become a platform where one can’t vote negative on these somewhat true 20% off sales. What a shame.

    • I’ve always found it odd that deal negs are highly protected and heavily moderated but comment negs are a free for all food fight.

  • +1

Let the jacking begin. But we may find a gem in the turd buger that is the Ebay 20% off sales.

  • Hope someone hasn't BlazingPassed

  • +2

Amazing the opposite of price jacking?
