Offer is for new members only

My note: Please be careful of the referral code you use below, as it looks like CUA website doesn't actually block/404 error any incorrect/wrong referral codes. From my knowledge, only true referral codes are 5 letters.

Hi all, got an email today from CUA. My comments about the account below T&Cs.

$100 for https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/411283 seems like a better offer (assuming you can be a new member only once)

    • +1

Sadly that offer was withdrawn shortly after you posted your comment. Maybe the OzBargain effect?

      • Does that mean we don't get it when if we signed up yesterday?

        • +1

If you saw the offer, and then signed up immediately, probably you got it. If you didn't, I think you could argue your case to a CUA rep - try their online chat.

Were you able to enter the "Cash100" promotional code, as per the instructions of that deal? If it didn't throw an error, you probably got it.

  • What is referral code?

    • -3

      Hey Tipu, updated the post.

      • -1

If I'm being negged in regards to the original post including my referral,

        1. Posted prior to the ozbargain's CUA referral system being set-up (as there was no non-referral link that provided the eSaver Boost Bonus)
        2. Messaged the mods about my post in addition to asking for the referral system being set up
        3. And once it was set up, removed my referral code from the post and the link itself.
        • -2

If this post is completely objective, it's not a deal. Because there is a better deal on right now!

  • Is it either this or this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/411283 or we can get both?

  • i just signed up for the Everyday Account so can i also sign up for this one using the op referral code and qualify for the $75?. how do i get my own unique promotional code to refer other family members afterwards?

    • -1

Not sure about the 1st question, but it looks like it's a from time-to-time deal for existing account holders similar to ING's.

  • If you are already a member then you are not a new member

    • +1

      am enlightened!

  • Can we post personal referral code links on here?

  • +1

I failed to get the other deal and have now applied for this one. Of itself it is a good deal. Surprised it has been negged

  • I think I must be blind, but where is the referral code?)

    • @cska2005
See Referral section at end of post

    • Note: Please be careful of which referral you use. Only use a referral for that's 5 letters. Some people are just adding their bank account number which won't be honoured.

Must have a closing balance of at least $2,000 in the new eSaver Boost account on 31 December 2018

so the trick is wait until a few days before NYE, deposit the $2000, login twice and remove money 1st of Jan… wait for $75 and then close acc?

  • Eligible existing members can refer as many new members as they wish and will earn $75 into their Everyday transaction account for each new qualifying account up to a maximum of $600 cash in total.

What happens after the referrer reaches $600 in referrals? Would the referees still receive their $75 bonus even after the referral has maxed out their referrals?

    • this is a concern. Anyone knows? I don't want to go through all that effort only having to get a dud referral code…

Happened to me before! some ozbargainer didn't remove their referral code after maxing out… waste of time!

  • +1

Where do we find our referral code?

    • I'm 90% confident new users will not have one. The only reason I know my one was because an email was sent to me.

      • Could you give me code. I could create a boosy account

        • Hi ShikaSashi, just use one of the referral links below the original post.

  • the other $100 deal is active again

  • I am a new member of CUA give me referral code. I will open boost account.

    • Click the referral link in the grey box above.

For those actually wanting to use the account, note that you can't make any withdrawals in the month you wish to claim bonus interest, making their base rate rather pathetic - more so than ING.

    • +2

Agreed absolutely thus, I personally use the eSaver Reward Savings Deposit (different savings account) with doesn't have a restriction on withdraws.

2.70% but it's the only savings account that I know of that allows external direct debits. Allowing me to have $0 in my transaction account. And if I do need cash out, I can just PayID to my CBA debit card (waiting for Macquarie to get on board with PayID)

  • If I sign up, Will I get a referral code to refer others? Or do only old sign-ups get the referral code?

  • This is only usable for existing customers who receive the email offer, and refer someone who meets all above requirements.

Is this really suitable as a bargain post?

  • Hrmmm, I signed up with 5 letters but the code had 2 numbers in it too. Should I forget about this deal?

  • Could the original two posters please advise if their quota of up to $600 (eight people) referrals has been met?

I’m not aware of any other referrers who could give their referral code. Thank you.

    • Each qualifying new member who opens an eSaver Boost account earns $75 into their Everyday transaction account. One $75 payment per new account. Joint accounts held by two new members will share the $75 reward.

Eligible existing members can refer as many new members as they wish and will earn $75 into their Everyday transaction account for each new qualifying account up to a maximum of $600 cash in total.

Payments will be made into the new or existing members' everyday transaction account by 14 January 2019. Accounts must be open on the payment date to receive the cash reward.

      ——————————-

The way I read this - it seems to be saying that all referred new members will receive $75 and there’s no limit to the number of new members and all will receive the $75.

The existing member doing the referring however can only receive up to $600.

So it doesn’t matter if the quota of $600 (eight people) has been met - you can continue to use the referral code and get $75 if you meet the criteria.

However the OP won’t receive anything from your sign up if they have already got the maximum of $60.

      Is that right?

Payment for referrers seem to have been paid out today.

  • I received $75 yesterday, used one of the referrer codes above.

  • Anyone else not received any payment yet?

    • +1

Yeh - still not received payment

      • Supposed to come by 14th Jan. However still not received. Did you complain?

        • Still not received. Haven’t called up yet

    • still not yet received ???

    • Are you a new member or referrer?
If you are a new member perhaps the referral code you used was invalid.
If you are a referrer perhaps the referee did not meet the qualifying criteria.

      • How would you know the referral code is invalid or not?

So basically you’ve wasted your time opening an account and transferring $2000 into it by Dec 31st - without even knowing that referral code was invalid?

        • It's unlikely to be invalid but there is always the chance if you read the warning by OP, there is no way of knowing.

If you only opened and transferred $2000 into the account, you are also missing the steps of logging into online or mobile banking 2 times.

          • @forumninja: Oh no …. have logged in many many times via app and website

          • @forumninja: i did everything right. check the refer code. log in 100 times in both mobile and desktop.

  • Received the following email today:

    Hi NAME,

Thanks for referring a friend in our recent eSaver Boost promotion. They successfully qualified, so you'll also receive a $75 reward. In fact, the money should be in your account.
Once again, thanks for sharing the CUA love with your family and friends, and for banking with us.

    Your CUA team

  • Yep I got nothing. I'm pretty sure I did the other steps right so maybe I didn't get the code right.

  • I have not received any credit so far. Going to complain tomorrow. Let's see.

  • Still waiting and did the required steps :/

  • Got a reply from CUA saying that the referrer code wasn't in the original application, but it was. How do I get them to honour it?

We have checked your original application and there was no referral code in the original application. Without the unique code from the member who referred you; you did not qualify for the $75 cash back.
