  • T&C don’t mention age. So kids can join?

Looks like they need 100 points of id (DL, Passport, Medicare etc.) - I'm not sure how 100 points of ID can be done for kids.

      • The child has a password and Medicare but not TFN so looks like it’s not possible for kids. Thanks

        • +3

TFN can be obtained for a person of any age.

        • How did you generate a password to be used as 100 points of ID ? Looks like I'm not in the future yet.

          • @SuperLate: Password for the passport.

            • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: It’s abc123 but don’t tell anyone okay

              • +1

@freeb1e4me: TFN shouldn't matter, its not part of the ID process, if not supplied and interest is earned the banks are required to tax the interest.

                • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: Possibly. I was just going by the following:

We'll also need 100 points of ID in order to make your application process quick, so please have the following documents ready:

                  • Australian driver's licence, Australian passport or Employment visa (if you hold a foreign passport)
                  • Australian Tax File Number (TFN) or Taxpayer Identification Number or equivalent.
                  • Medicare card.

I’ve already done this one—do you think it’s possible to double-dip with this one too?
I heard that Heritage and People’s Choice have merged.

    • +1

I'm not associated, but in my opinion double-dipping may not be possible.
Both offers are from "Heritage and People’s Choice Ltd"

The Offer is made by Heritage and People’s Choice Ltd ABN 11 087 651 125 Australian Credit Licence 244310 (‘HPC’) which trades under the trading name ‘People’s Choice Credit Union’ (People’s Choice).

      • I don't see anything indicating it's exclusive, and the sign-up looks straightforward, so it can't hurt to give it a try.

        • and I will try double-dipping by opening one at Heritage Bank as well. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks. I've just signed up. Seems straightforward enough.

So in essense, I open an account + deposit $50. They give me extra $50. Is that it?

    • +1

      Free $50 bucks ngl

    • +1

Is that a question or is that your statement to cast a neg vote?

    • Not a valid reason to cast a neg vote here :(

    • The neg vote came out accidently.

      • +1

        The dog did it

  • How easy is it to close the account?

    • +1

have to ask them for forms, not available on their website. two to fill out and wet signature. kind of a PITA really

  • Has anyone successfully opened a kids account online?

  • Signed up but you have to call to register online banking? Way too hard

  • +1

Is anyone else still waiting for verification of account opening? It seems this bank is stuck in the 90s.

    • Yep, heard nothing since I applied on 20/11
      Gonna chase them up today.

      • How'd you go with them?

I stupidly only applied this afternoon and there's probably zero chance of them opening the account by Saturday.

        • +3

Phone rep couldn't pull up any details, i offered the name and reference # from the completed forms but all she could say was to give it another 1-2 days :|
Definitely give them a call or chat on Wed to try and push things forward.

Her first response was "applications takes 24-48hrs to be processed". I said 'well that timeframe has elapsed from when I applied Wed last week'. I can almost hear the spinning circle/loading icon as she's thinking of what else to say, lol.

          • @payton: Doesn't sound promising but thanks for the suggestion

            • @UrMumsOnlyFan: I wonder if they will purposely delay everyone's applications another week so they don't have to pay the $50 lol

              • +1

@Windows7forever: Wouldn't be shocking if they did, but anyone who applied more than 5 business days before 30 November should definitely AFCA them in that case.

          • @payton: was your application approved?

            • @nned2say: Nope, heard nothing. Damn incompetents

  • I opened an account, but it’s not working properly. I can’t wait to withdraw my $50 and close it.

  • Has anyone had their application approved yet?

    • My one approved today.

    • Negative

      • I just called to follow it up. Apparently my application was declined (not that they let me know) and if i wanted to apply again i'd have to do so by sending in manual paperwork.

        • +1

Declined? Gees, this mob sound pretty special …

          Did they give any reason?

  • +1

    Very similar to @kuwahshi
My application was also declined due to "Internal Reasons" (That's what I was told) and when I asked for them to clarify they said that it may have something to do with my ID but they want me to fill in manual forms and send them through. I hadn't receive any emails to say it had been declined….

Never had an issue signing up to a bank before… Starting to think they're doing this intentionally to try and persuade people to give up so they don't have to pay out $50 in bulk

    • I reckon this deal got ozbargained and they are trying to backpedal. You could try making an afca complaint but I think I've wasted enough time with this mob already. Very poor service.

      • +5

Just tried to call them, for no other reason than to be able to report back here that they'd also declined me haha.

Instead, the agent said she couldn't look up my membership application based on the reference number, she basically couldn't do anything at all unless I had an actual membership number. I was somewhat surprised and bemused …

I've wasted enough time on them and do actually prefer that they decline me. However, I would again urge anyone who applied more than 5 business days before 30 November to raise an AFCA complaint.

If a complaint makes it to registration and referral People's Choice will incur an AFCA fee that is almost double this $50 promo.

  • Just got paid $50, thanks OP!

  • Just got my $50, thanks OP. Transferring via internet banking is a bit of a hassle, having to register for secure code access and all. I ended up downloading their app and the transfer was easier.
