I don't think you could even find it cheaper from overseas.

Hi guys, I'm keen to get one of these as I remember some deals a while ago that I kept missing. But Im wondering if someone can help me confirm a couple things because Ive never owned one of these before.

    1) Does it also heat the seat or just spray heated water?

    2) Will it fit most standard toilets?

    3) Will I need to buy a connector to fit it to cold the water pipe?

    4) What would be the normal price for this seat or one like it?

    5) Is this good quality?

    Thanks for your help!

I despair, I really do. This is one of those "how the f* did the cavepeople survive without one of these" products (maybe they domesticated dogs for the same purpose - smear enough vegemite on it and my Labrador will lick anything).

And,for the record, a truly smart toilet seat is one that sprouts propellers, drone style, and flies away as soon as it sees my arse coming on a Saturday morning.

    • +1

Yeah like how cavepeople didnt need cars and walked around everywhere. Technology.. get with it.

      • How about the Flintstones? Yabba dabba doo.

      • -2

Yeah a vulva washer is just like a car. Can't really contemplate going to work without one.

Seriously, if you've got money for these, then give it to the RSPCA instead, and somehow struggle on without one.

        • +1

Oh ffs - well, let's not buy any item of convince then.

Stop using that 3 ply toilet paper, a handful of leaves will do.

  • What if water supply is on the right?

  • Umm I've got no English manualand no English template thingy.

So I contact them to get a free one?

I can print the manual but don't have the template.

    • Mine was in an envelope attached to the box.

      • Didn't have it, looked around the whole thing, they were telling me it was in some envelope too.

        Mightve dropped or something.

They already said they'll send me another which was cool.

  • Anyone know what the type of fitting on the hose is called?
Mine arrived today but the hose is slightly too short as my tap is on the opposite side of the connector to the seat.

  • Just bought one. Should I also install one of those backflow prevention attachment??

  • +2

    Ok finally got this installed.

    Some tips:

If your tap is on the right side (facing the toilet) then it's likely that the hose will be too short. You won't be able to find a longer hose so you'll need to buy a standard water hose extension from Bunnings. Mine cost about $16 for a pair of extension hoses.

In Australia the water hose come prefit with these cone style rubber washers inside. Ideally the mijia filter is designed to work with a flat washer.
It is very hard to fit an Australian hose to the filter without striping the threads.
I tried to remove the cone style rubber washers but couldn't.
What I had to do was drill/file/cut out the inner diameter of the filter connection so it could accommodate the cone washer.
If possible, find a hose with a flat washer and all will be good.

    • I found the same with the washer - couldn't my (Bunnings) hose to grab without fear of stripping the plastic thread.

Fortunately I had a small 12" extension cable which had longer thread.

    • Hi edrift, do you mind sharing a picture? I am having the same issue. Not very good at these things.

      • What are you after a photo of?

The filter where I've widened the hole?
If so I won't be able to as it's all hooked up now.

Basically if you look at your standard tap, the opening is much bigger than the plastic filter opening. You just need to get a round file or sharp knife and remove some of the plastic from the filter opening to make the hole bigger

For those needing assistant or have similar setup to mine.. I had to replace the old copper pipes cause it wasn't a flexible wire.

Had to buy this, there is a silver 1 too, perfect fit.

It should take 10 mins if you guys got all the parts prepped and ready, they made it as user friendly as possible.

Seat is sticking out of the bowl abit… Abit if a tight fit and I gotta fix up the power outlet and cabling later with one if these.
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/command-clear-round-cord-clips-4…

Coles, kmart. Woolworth etc should all have them too.

    • Great one!

For anyone who hasn't installed theirs yet, go with this shower hose option as it looks like it'll be a straight fit since it uses flat washers.

The only caveat is that shower hoses aren't designed to always be under pressure (which it will be).
For toilets generally we use the Flexi hose that is shrouded with the chrome alloy sleeve since it's always under pressure unless refilling the cistern after a flush)

      • Ya thing is… We had a spare one that was lying around but the tightening bolts snapped or something as he was screwing it on.
Dad said the tightening bolts were made from plastic instead of steel or something so we had to buy one wuth steel bolt.

There were only 3 types on the shelf, they were all in sealed bags and couldn't exactly try them all.
The other ones looked like the one that snapped so I bought the most expensive one.

I tried the normal water cabling too that wernt in sealed bags but they couldn't fit as well.

This was the best I could do without the wait and no info online.

    • Just be careful with that pipe as it is not rated for constant high pressure.

      • True but honestly might be better than what I had to do!

I guess you could always wrap the hose with something if you were worried it might burst.

  • Does anyone know if the seat is supposed to be warming all the time or only if someone sits on it?

Mine seems to be warming all the time even though the seat has a sensor in it

  • Nevermind found the stickers thank you for the quick postage. :)

Anyone who cares about such things - I put the English plate on and immediately didn't like its off white colour - so put the Chinese one back (not that I can read Chinese). The English one looked aged or even unclean next to the Chinese one which perfectly matched the seat.

Also the fonts used on it had bled a little and sticker fit not good compared to the Chinese one. It actually looked a Chinese knockoff of a Chinese product.

Appreciate many will prefer the English instead and Gearbest supplying it.

    • Yeah sadly I only noticed this after it was firmly stuck on…

It gives the vintage look… But I'm impressed that it was a proper made 3D sticker not just a cheapo vinyl or paper print.

I'll deal with the off white colour… At least I'll know how to read the labels!

      • +2

I sort of like the surprise you get pressing the wrong buttons.

    • I meant Gearbite, not Gearbest.

  • +1

Really impressed with how easy it was to install. Loved the pipe clamps. Feels quality.

    Only hickups were:

    1. My cistern stop outlet not coming out of the wall enough to accommodate the canister's diameter - solved with $3.50 M-F spacer from Reece.

    2. Existing (Bunnings) hose to toilet didn't have enough thread to grab the thread on the canister. Used a different hose with longer thread.

    • Where did you get the hose with the longer thread? I'm having so much trouble with mine.

      • I just happened to have it in my plumbing box - but it's a Performa mixer tap extension hose 250mm x 1/2" (F) x 1/2" (M). Can't recall if I got it from Reece but I either go there or Bunnings and Reece do stock Performa. You may find a straight adapter does the job instead of an extension hose.

    • Hello Janko,
This is my very first post! (Joined OzBargain in order to ask you this question)
Could you please tell me what exactly the part from Reece is called? I had a quick look at their website but couldn't see anything obvious.
We bought the seat and are having the same issue - not enough wall space for the canister.
Is it something Bunnings would have?

      • You need a water hose extension. They come in a twin pack from Bunnings. Normally used for installing taps.
        They are a braided hose.
Couldn't find it on the Bunnings website but they do sell them in a variety of lengths from $10-17 a pair.

        • Thank you! Got that but now reached another hurdle. Step 5.4 install steel screen filter. I didn’t get one of those. Did you? Is that something I need to buy? Just using regular water here (not grey water). Do I need this filter?

        • @SiobhanJ:
No need. Don't even know where you saw that.
The White plastic cannister is the filter

        • @edrift:

Here. At 5.4 in the English language installation manual.

          https://gearbite.com.au/ebay/manual/smartbidet.pdf

(I took a screenshot of the relevant clause but can’t figure out how to post it!)

In any event we ignored it. Seems to be a secondary filter?

  • I've installed the seat now… and haven't found the English sticker(s).

Were they in a particular place? Not in the paper folder for mine, or floating free in the box.

    • Stuck to the outside of the box in an envelope

      • Bugger, I guess mine was lost in transit. Luckily the Google Translate app is so decent now. ;)

        Thanks.

        • Not likely? Mine was well taped to the box. No chance of it falling off.

Maybe contact the seller to post you one?

  • Aww people are getting theirs, and I'm checking the mail twice per day hoping for it still

  • Anyone else have low pressure? This one sucks compared to my previous bidet.

    • Definitely shouldn't be sucking.

  • +1

Ok we’re finally using ours. Some installation tips:

    • we ignored 5.4 in the English installation manual (about an additional steel mesh filter). Couldn’t figure out what they were on about and in any event we are not using grey water so not too worried about a secondary filter.

    • we had a fair bit of trouble at the start fitting the plugs through our toilet. In the end we put them up through the bottom but I suspect you could just buy better fitting ones at Reece or Bunnings.

    • we couldn’t attach the white canister directly on to the wall water inlet (because not enough space between it and the wall). Needed the braided tap extension hose suggested by Edrift above which so far seem to be working a treat. We used plumbers tape on all the joins as well as a sort of plumbing sealant on the inner metal threads (as suggested by a guy at Bunnings).

    • the diagram in the English manual shows the power plug upside down.

Re the seat itself (after two days use):

    • it doesn’t quite fit our toilet perfectly which means there’s a bit of a lip and overhang at the front of the seat. I suspect this will get quite manky and require regular cleaning

    • lady wash seems to be pretty much the same as bum wash. The difference in position of the two nozzles is negligible so won’t be bothering with it

    • it is annoying how the wand trickles water sometimes before it operates but we’re pretending it’s like the noise function that comes with some of the Toto Washlets :)

    • cannot always get the seat to work for our six year old daughter. I suspect she’s too light.

Overall I recommend it - it’s worth what we paid for it and not too difficult to install - even for someone with absolutely no handy person experience. (Thanks very much to Edrift for the help).
