        • I encourage you to neg. For some who’s been on here for a while he/she should know the answer

        • thank you

    • +1

according to last year we can find coles myer gift cards there and $20 credit were forthcoming

  • +4

H&M Syd is participating. I don’t remember then accepting Amex. Interesting! Will find out.

  • +1

Looks like good timing on the Myer one with $10 bonus for purchasing $100 gift card

    • Is there a promo on now?

    • +2

That promo expires before the Amex offer kicks in

    • Is that deal still on? I cannot find it.

    • is there an offer?

  • Is the offer only valid for the shops at the specific locations? Eg only Myer George St in Sydney.

    • +1

Yes; it's a promotion to encourage you to shop in the city … not at Myer Parramatta or Bondi or Penrith

  • In the T&C it says not valid for payments made through third party payment processors? Does that mean we can't use Google or Apple pay to pay with the phone?

    • +2

They mean stuff like Afterpay or PayPal (not that you could use Amex with Afterpay); your Google Pay and Apple Pay payments will be eligible for the credit

      • +1

        Thanks for the clarification kerfuffle..

    • +1

Third party payment processors refers to things like PayPal. Google/Apple Pay is fine, as all those apps do is tokenise your card number, so AmEx still treats it as using your actual card :)

      • +1

        Thanks MathNerd..

      • +1

not sure about paypal being in the same category as google pay and apply pay, however I think it is safe with Samsung Pay to get the $20 credits.

        • PayPal is a different category to Google Pay and Apple Pay …

  • Is it possible that these offers be saved to the main card holder and again to the Supplementary card holder?

    • +1

If they have different card numbers, yes.

    • +1

You need to save offer to each card

  • Thanks OP. All cards registered.

Time to stack up on coles myer and DJ gift cards

    • Nice. How many cards?

      • -2

        9 cards

going to apply a further 4 supp cards, 1 on each of our accounts for 3000 points and in preparation for shop small

  • Thansk for the heads up; just enrolled. Curiously, no email sent confirming enrolment…

Update: Does show in saved offers in Amex app

  • Hey guys, quick question: would you say it's worth getting an American Express credit card for deals like this (are they frequent enough to make up for cost of the card?), And if so, which card is best to get access to these deals?

    • +5

You can get fee-free ones like the Essential, Velocity Escape or Qantas Discovery cards. Definitely worth having a fee-free one for offers like these (my second Amex is a Velocity Escape). All the above are issued direct by Amex

      • There are also ways to get the gold card free.

    • +1

AMEX essentials has no annual fee and can be used for cashback deals.

    • +5

For first Amex card, get one with high bonus points (something like 100k bonus points), then convert to a fee free card before the annual fee is due next year.

      • Amex don't change between cards like that… I've tried several times. They ask you to apply for a new one (meaning new credit check) and during that application they give you the option to close an existing card if you want

        • My situation was different, I downgraded my explorer to an essential card without a problem.

        • HUCA

  • -6

OH YAY! Lot's of stores to choose from.
$780 to gain! woooo, free money!!

  • Correction:

    From Amex website:

Spend $50 to get $20 back at up to 3 different participating retailers, between 31/08/2018 and 14/09/2018

    Not between 31/8/18 to 6/9/18

I almost not register, as I'm overseas until 11th.

    • Lol I’m similar to you except I fly out 1 sep and back 12. Going to city today to use up all my cards.

  • will this work on westfield gift cards like last year

    • Yes, as they're listed as a participating retailer

      • Which retailer is that?

        • "Westfield Gift Cards"

        • @illumination:

Oh, must be NSW in that case…

        • @KaptnKaos: Yep. You'll see it if you select "Sydney" as the location

  • -4

    YAY 40% discount!! Great stuff!

  • +1

Don't forget to buy DJs gift cards if you can't otherwise use the offer three times.

    • +1

      So 40% discount?

      • +4

Why would you even ask that when you mentioned the 40% discounts from three comments up.

        • +2

I was unsure of the % because I got neg'ed so maybe my maths was wrong. @MathNerd? ;)

        • +2

          @Turd:

Then why did you mentioned it again two comments down? Clearly you knew your maths.

  • would the david jones welcome credit stack with this one? Does anyone know?

    • Yes stackable.

      but 40% discount!

  • well if I spend $50, I will get back $20 and $15 if stackable… Thats 70% off…?

    • Yes! Go out spend some money help the Retailers!! Go Gerry Go Gerry you did your taxing dues!! Dont buy overseas you will get taxed 10%%!!

  • +1

    Two questions -

    1. Melbourne cannot get Westfield gift cards ?
    2. Can you spend in the same store thrice in different transactions ? The T&C is a bit confusing

    thanks !

    • +1
      1. No
      2. No, one store = 1 discount of $20.
      • +1

To be more precise on #1, I guess you could technically fly to Sydney to get it (but yes correct you can't get discount off the Gift Cards in Melbourne), but whether it's worth making a trip up just for it is obviously up to you!

        • This is only for WF gc's right ? Can I still redeem this offer buying giftcards from myer and dj ?

        • @Ryxxi: Yes.

          Myer x 1
          DJ Store 1 x 1
          DJ Store 2 x 1

          DJs has two stores.

          Total 3x$20=$60 per card credit.

There are hundres of other stores as well.

        • @Turd: They're in Melbourne. DJs will only count as one store for them unlike Sydney

  • +5

Think we should seriously make a wiki for when these offers come up. Seems people keep asking the same questions over and over again.

    • +1

Understandably can be a tad frustrating/annoying, but really not unusual.

Think of deals on Kogan Mobile services first month $1/5. People always ask stuff like, "can I recharge existing service?", "can I port in and port out?"

They're understandable questions, but previous comments aren't linked to new deals for the same type of deal which is part of the problem.

Agree that a wiki with a link in the OP would probably be good though!

  • Thanks OP. Registered all my cards.

  • Registered my card but didn't receive an email confirmation like previous deals, is that normal?

    • +2

Yes, check the app or online account it will ssay Amex offer saved.

    • +2

it is normal, check with your amex app and you should see it is saved.

      • Cheers turd and tidie.

    • +1

You can't. That ends on the 26th. This starts on the 31st.

  • +1

On the night, Card Members will enjoy exclusive access to the American Express Lounge, and we’ll be offering a special Amex Offer – on top of the retailer’s offers!

The 'offer' is an 'Amex Band' - https://www.americanexpress.com/au/credit-cards/amex-band.ht…

The first 1,000 Card Members to visit the American Express Lounge at Vogue American Express Fashion's Night Out will receive a special gift - an Amex Band you can pay with. It's an elegant, wearable way to use your American Express Card.

    • Hey Beau, this sounds really cool! Thanks for reading the fine print :) Will you be going and trying to get this?

  • -1

Does it work with bank issued amex card?

  • +4

    Thanks OP :)

For those in Melbourne, free doughnuts are also being given away at St Collins Lane:

Free Dessert Parlour Doughnuts at St. Collins Lane

St. Collins Lane is giving away 500 doughnuts courtesy of Burnley-based custom dessert supplier Dessert Parlour. It's calling them "holographic" doughnuts, and while they're no Tupac at Coachella, they’re certainly shimmery. The giveaway is to celebrate Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night Out 2018.

The first 250 will be handed out from 12.30pm and the second batch will go out at 5pm – so you can kick off happy hour with some fried goodness, or grab a bite before peak hour.

One doughnut per person, while stocks last.

    • Tupac at Coachella. Lol

    • But is it true holo?

  • Can I only buy from a retailer once. Eg Myer one out of the three possible offer redemptions, or can I do Myer 3x ?

    • Oops. Once only

You can redeem the offer at each participating VAEFNO retailer location only once, at up to a maximum of 3 different participating VAEFNO retailer locations.

    • Dunno if Myer Sydney and Myer Melbourne would count as one location or two locations

  • You can redeem this offer at up to 3 different participating retailer locations

Can I goto three different uniqlo and get the same offer? $150 = $60 cash back :D

    • +1

No because there's only two Uniqlos in the entirety of Australia that are participating: Emporium and Mid City Centre and whether they count as one retailer or two, no one knows

      • +1

I believe they count as 2.
Because I am guessing their system works based on retailer locations(as available on the participating locations).

Ex: Last year, it worked at 2 Westfield locations - Pitt st & George st(just opp. to each other)

  • Here we go!

  • -1

What happens if you have to return these items eventually?

    • +2

      Please don't

    • Your credit would disappear. Unless you asked for store credit i.e. refund to a Gift Card

      • Or ask the store to refund into another credit card?

        • That would be considered fraud in retailers' eyes …

  • Time for another GC or iTunes card run @ Myer?! ;-)

  • Do you guys realize Myer is gone from the list? No Coles Myer GC this time I think…

But last time I had a really hard time and had to put up with you-are-cheap faces from the myer elder senior staff to get the GC. The junior young guy who did the transactions for me was fine. Very bad experience.

    • my bad, it is there under "Everything". But still very bad exp from last year

      • +4

I wish retail staff would stop with the bad attitude towards paying customers. I sometime encounter similar attitudes, such as when returning faulty products (with proof of purchase, and inside the warranty period), and all it does is make me not want to shop there again in future.

Staff need to understand that it's not their money, they are there to serve the customer, under the rules of the business, and so a bad attitude during a valid transaction or return is doing their job poorly.

  • Is it just city Myer, not the suburban ones?

    • +2

      Yes.
