Anyone knows/tried a way to pay the rego in NSW with Westfield EFTPOS cards?

    • +2

Try it out and let us know?

Edit: Person who negged me must be the kind of person who expects everything to be spoonfed to them rather than trying things out for themselves rolls eyes

    • +1

If they are true EFTPOS, just convert them with Aus Post reloadable credit card.
This trick works with Perfect EFTPOS giftcard.

      • But credit card attracts fees for rego payment. No fees if paid using the perfect eftpos giftcard, tried it myself at Vicroads counter

        • is it possible to pay or pre-pay your credit card account with these eftpos (red) cards?

        • @tveye: Seeing they can’t be used online, highly unlikely.

        • @kerfuffle:

          in branch :)

        • @tveye: You can try (do let us know), but I would assume that the branch machines are programmed not to accept the cards.

        • @kerfuffle: i most likely won't be trying this. it was partly a suggestion for the person who was converting eftpos cards to prepaid cc. also good to know when woolies have their next offer.

      • -2

Many people (including me) have done this, please try or think before you neg.

        • -2

These cards are going to end up banned at auspost just like egift card can't be used to buy other giftcards now.

        • @JIMB0:
Based on what reason they need to ban it? It is a proper EFTPOS card.

    • +2

Quick update here, paid at a service centre with these but was refused to split the payment into more than three cards.

Coles myer giftgards are back in the Sydney store. Ground floor.

    • +1

OH man. I literally went at 1pm and there were none left.

      • +1

I also found some less than an hour ago on the ground floor (that’s after I decided to start at level 6 and do every single floor!)

        • is ground floor where the cosmetics are sold?

        • @tveye: did you find any? I couldn't find any today….

        • @loverofbargains: i didn't personally shop there today but was messaged that it was sold out. that's what prompted me to enquire here.

        • @tveye: they were at the sunglasses counter. The lady mentioned they were the new cards with 3 year expiry. Sorry for delayed reply!

    • None at all today. I was told that they removed them because of the new 3 yr expirary date and the old cards couldn't be sold. Sounds like BS to me. They are meant to be getting new ones soon, probably next week when the deal is finished.

      • Not bs; they have to pull them off the shelves because if they still keep the old ones with the less than three years terms and conditions expiry on them by a certain date, they could get fined by the government

  • I tried the red westfield gift card in a non westfield store and it didn't work anyone have the same issue?

    • What is the non Westfield store name? Why so mysterious….

  • is the 14th inclusive ?

  • +2

Going through the theft beepers at Myer with a pocket full of amex cards sets them off. Seen a few people set them off when I was there.

    • +2

      LOL. Security against professionals.

  • Myer Syd CBD does not have coles card.Is it possible to buy myer card now and then use that to buy coles gift card later from myer..anyone tried?

    • +1

Normally no, they don't really allow gift card buy gift card

  • Hi guys at zara now
It says upto 3 different retailers
Can I tap at Zara 3 separate transactions?

    • Nope.

    • +3

All good guys read comments above my bad
      One store only

    • same card can only be swiped once in same retailer to get the cash back. So same card can't be swiped twice at zara to get different credits.

  • +2

Was told today by Westfield concierge (Microsoft side) that "you will only get credit from one location"…. Yea ok. I'm like, I don't care. I'm willing to buy it anyway. I actually wonder why they're telling their staff to say this…

When they ask whether I'm taking part in the promoting, I say, "I'm paying with an American Express."

    • Last week, brought westfield gift card & transaction said Westfield Sydney central.

But this week i brought from both sides but all transactions only say Westfield gift cards.

I remember last yr both side's transaction had different name.

So did westfield change their terminal so we wont get credit from both sides?

      • Ignore, it now shows 2 places

  • Has anyone accidentally used a card (via Google pay) twice at the same place and tried to get a refund?

I'm in that position now and thinking whether it's worth doing or not… (worth trying to get a refund)

    • There's at least two people here who had that issue; depends on how much you value your time and whether there's a queue behind you I guess. Good luck

      • +1

        I should've read the comments hey? :P

    • +1

      Back in Sydney? :)

      • Yep :) just for this!! HAHA

        • Sheet! Professionalism!

    • To answer my own question, I was advised two conflicting pieces of information but I think I know which is correct.

      1. Refunds can only take place for Gift Cards purchased on the same calendar day
      2. Refunds can only take place for Gift Cards purchased within 24 hours

I was told the first, then the second (by the same person).

I then said, "If it's "within 24 hours" then I think I'm within 24 hours?" But I think the rule is same calendar day, and she just instinctively said within 24 hours.

Also, heard her on the phone saying, "ok and if customer wishes to escalate? then speak to manager? ok."

So I literally heard her kinda giving the option for me to "challenge it"… Probably shouldn't have said that in front of me..? But I didn't bother. Can't be bothered with the extra admin.

Ok…Amex Vogoe is almost over…Shop Small will be here in 2 months :). Westfield were a complete PITA….no other store I know asks for ID matching the Amex card to buy gift cards! Saved just under $700 on my grocery bills with this promo so i guess it was worth the 2 visits to Sydney cbd :)

    • When doing shop small some small shop will ask for ID

      • Don't think I've had this happen to me

        • if you are in Sydney CBD and you have 5 - 10 cards to do it once then you may get this problem.

        • @LoveBargain15: yea I've got 20+…. Lol

Tried for the last 2 years in Sydney CBD topping up multiple opals

Does the deal end tonight or do I still have tomorrow to use it?

    • +3

I dont know, best to read all the terms and conditions.

    • If all else fails, read the instructions.

    • -3

wow thats pretty freaken harsh to neg. Sorry english is my 2nd language and I read "from 31/8/2018 to 14/9/2018" as till 23:59 13/09. THey should of written up to and including 14/09/2018 and I did read the T&C before coming to the community for asssistance.

      • English is my second language as well, however I don't use it as an excuse for not understanding the terms and conditions as it clearly states it ends on the 14th. If it ended at 23:59 on the 13th, they would have stated the end date as the 13th …

        • +1

Some people are just really lazy and do not ready t&c's because the just cant be fracked, and rather have others read it for them then interpret and tell them in normal terms.

Why have t&C's in the first place.

        • +2

          @Turd:

Look, I can accept that I misread or misinterupted the T&C.

But I did read the T&Cs and couldn't find the answer I was looking for so I asked the community. I wasn't not being lazy. I really did read it and still was unsure.

        • +4

You know what - I would argue that he's not wrong to ask.

I largely agree that it's common sense that "ending on 14th" is inclusive and therefore up to and including 23:59 14th September. Because 14th September, all the way through to 23:59 is still 14th September.

But technically you can argue that as soon as the clock hits 00:00 14 Sep (i.e. one minute after 23:59, 13 Sep), it is, at that point in time, 14th September - and this could be when it expires. It depends on how the promotion is applied.

Personally, I've never seen an offer/promotion be stated like "ending 14th September" where it means 00:00 14th September, but if you want to be really precise and technical, it would not be wrong to think it is a possibility.

We all have access to the same information (the T&Cs) and that's the angle you guys are coming from, but we are confident to say it's up until 23:59 14th September because we've done it so many times before and we know these promos through and through.

        • +1

@illumination: OP did state from his post that the deal ends on the 14th September. He didn't need to read the T&Cs. If the post did not include 14th September then it would have expired.

        • +1

          @illumination:

we are confident to say it's up until 23:59 14th September because we've done it so many times before and we know these promos through and through

Exactly. The first time I signed up for such a promo, quite a while ago now, I remember pondering about the exact interpretation of the cutoff. I can't remember how it was corroborated, but I am sure I would have appreciated the corroboration from someone then.

      • +2

        31/8/2018 to 14/9/2018

Logic states that it starts from 31/08/2018 00:00 till 14/09/2018 23:59.

It's not about language or understanding English.

        • +2

As above - I would argue it's about common understanding of promos. We know this inside out because we've done it so many times but some people are new.

    • +3

Plus 1. Nothing wrong in asking if you don't know or not clear. The ones who are commenting negative - Remember asking is also a bit of effort. Especially with a good community like this

  • -2

Where does it say the 14th is inclusive

    • In the terms and conditions and pretty much everywhere else? Why are you apprehensive when we already told you that the 14th is inclusive and you don't know for sure, whereas we do and thus can tell you it is inclusive?

    • If all else fails, read the instructions.

      • -2

This is the T&C and I couldn't see anything about 14th is inclusive either.

Thumbs up to AMEX Live Chat (always have had great experiences with them regarding statement credit issues and have never had them turn me down). Admittedly previous experiences were on their part, but the most recent was my bad!

Did my shops last Sunday, and made a careless mistake using 2 of my handful of cards to purchase from a 4th merchant each, and didn't realise until tonight. As we all know, max is 3 merchants per card, but I was in shopping frenzy mode I totally forgot my count/card tracker.

I was wondering why I was missing 2 credits still, when all the others I got back on Monday and Tuesday.

Got onto AMEX Live Chat and with a bit of explaining about my carelessness, they looked after me and pushed through the 2 credits by placing them against the other cards I didn't max out on. Didn't really need to twist there arm, just spent most of the time trying to explain what happened and what I was asking for them to do for me.

Moral of the story… 1. Relax and take your time to ensure you're on top of the count per card. 2. Don't hesitate to get onto AMEX Live Chat even if you're at fault, they're great in always trying to look after you. Obviously be polite and patient, and not to 'expect' a successful outcome but rather 'hope'.

All well that ends well =)

    • +1

Great result. Well done. And kudos to them for looking after you.

    • did u mention you brought gift cards in those transactions?

      • +1

Nah, wasn't even brought up what I bought… Didn't see a need to openly discuss what was actually purchased.

  • +2

Final report (see previous post for first part):

    • H&M $50 gift card
    • Superdry $129.95 split 70/60
    • David Jones single transaction x3 cards
    • Finished! (4 cards x12 transactions)

N.B. I noticed that Swarovski from my previous post came through as "mid city centre". To late to be of use but hopefully nobody got stung by that one.

Secondly, I think I may have gotten A REALLY good deal on a pair of Airpods.

    • They pricematched Umart @ $195.
    • Paid the first $50 no problem, but then the guy fat fingered it and pressed Cash for the rest so he had to start over. I said I didn't want to lose my statement credit so he refunded it for me onto a MasterCard.
    • Then used another 2 cards
    • Paid the balance ($95) with 12% discounted David Jones gift card
    • Total discount ~$71 if my math is correct… so $124ish all told. Almost $100/50% off the sticker price.

Thanks, Amex. See you for Shop Small!

    • DJs price match?

      • DJs price match?

Yep since Umart has physical stores.

        • Interesting

    • Paid the first $50 no problem, but then the guy fat fingered it and pressed Cash for the rest so he had to start over. I said I didn't want to lose my statement credit so he refunded it for me onto a MasterCard.

He shouldn't have done the refund back onto your MasterCard, but rather voided the entire transaction and started again. As long as you spent at least $50 there in one transaction, you would receive the credit.

      • He did, but if I refunded back onto the same card Amex would've revoked the credit and I wouldn't have gotten it again because voided transactions still count as one use (at least not without going through the customer service complaint route).

        This is from previous experience.

        • The credit shouldn't be revoked though as long as he voided it as opposed to manually refunded it as he did with you. He probably had to manually refund because he didn't know how to void the cash part only (not everyone knows how to do it).

This is also from recent experience; had a customer who had their split transaction that was accidentally put through as part cash by someone else which I had step in and help void the transaction as the sales assistant didn't know how to fix it (she used the Amex again and they got the credit).

    • -1

where do you buy H&M gift card? in earlier comments, it was said 'NO AMEX'

      • +1

At H&M (who clearly now accept Amex) …

      • +1

They had the Amex Vogue Fashion Night signs all over the counter.

      • @kerfuffle @zzyss then I misunderstood https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/6317187/redir

        • H&M must have had the AMEX promo people and ask them to allow AMEX, because im 100% sure before ~3 months or so ago they had 'no amex" on the eftpos machines printed.

  • -1

    Thanks OP.
All up, used all of the 19 cards I have with the 4 cards my partner has, to get 23 x 3 x $20 = $1380 worth of statement credits.
    Thanks AmEx!

    • where did you spend it on?

      out of curiosity.

I spent on Coles Myer cards, David Jones cards, Wesfields gift cards.

      • Mine was majorly Myer and David Jones.
Missus wanted stuff from Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Mecca, Pandora so that's where the remaining uses went.
How many credits did you get?

        • only $480 ;(
          but paid Westfield $29.50 fee

        • @airpoe: Ah damn, luckily I'm not in SYD so didn't face the issue of Westfield and its crazy staff!
