        • @SydneySwan: thanks for that. Was gonna hit up uniqlo. Now I won't bother

  • Was at Sydney Westfield after work. Waited 20 minutes in the line for a pair of couple with at least 40 cards between themselves to get their gift cards.

    • So no more split payments now?

      • I didn't ask but I presume no split payments anymore

        • +1

Thanks. Macadamia, I am surprised that the Westfield staff let them using 40 Amex cards to purchased gift cards. I was there today, the stuff only allowed to purchase 3 gift cards per person. Stating with $100 per gift card with split payment of 2 Amex cards, then later deceided no more split payments.

        • +2

@Purple: There is no system restriction on how many splits can be made.
Westfield concierge is fully prepared this year for this year promotion.

They have printed out the T&C's stating no split payments allowed(in bold). They blame it on AMEX saying they have set the T&C, which is highly unlikely.

I was told by another staff member that the reason they are not entertaining split payments is that they have upgraded their payment systems late last year and the receipt will not have all the details of the cards used. They usually need this if there's any problem during card activation etc.
          I didn't believe this.

However, I made split payments and on the receipt, it has details of my last card only. Looks like their new payment processor - Tyro doesn't support this.

        • @spk: u managed to make split payments for Westfield giftcards? I was denied in both locations stating they won't allow me split payments 😔

        • +2

@Tems: yes I queued up in the morning at 9:30 bear market st and the lady advised she can only split on 2 cards.

Went to Pitt st during lunch and there was a long queue. Spoke with one of the girls who works there and she suggested to come back at a quieter time.

Went to both places around 3:30ish got $500 split on 10 cards and 2X $250 over 5 cards each.

          I was just lucky 😀

        • @Purple: I was surprised too that they just processed them without any questions.

    • Were they wearing black and purple? I was gonna line up but decided I should just go back another day.

      • Yes they were. Good decision to come back another time.

  • +3

Ended up getting a bunch of OPSM gift cards and then went to the (VIC) Bourke Street mall spin the wheel thing as I spent over $250 on AMEX cards that night. Ended up getting a $50 prize which was only two free tickets to the McQueen documentary/movie and the Vivien Wesfield documentary. Personally not that worth it.

My wife went back later on (as I got her to get me more gift cards) and actually managed to spin and get a supposedly major prize spin "Vogue Prize" which was supposed to be like an overnight stay somewhere but she only got 12 months physical subscription to Vogue as all the major prizes were already given out.

  • The even was super busy, I didnt bother quing up but people were standing in the q even at like 9:30pm lol.

  • Damn looks like I missed out on going to the Melbourne pop up today. Will it be on tomorrow? Or was it a one day thing?

    • +1

Melbourne's over. You can go to the Sydney one on the 6th

  • Has anyone tried for more than 3 retailers and got their credit? Or maximum if 3 is enforced as per the original offer? Thanks

    • The promotion started yesterday, so no one's gotten any $20 credit yet. It's maximum three retailers but no one's stopping you from seeing if you'll get a $20 credit from a fourth retailer …

      • David Jones seems to not want to do my many cards. Any ideas?

        • +2

Go when it's quiet (which I presume you've already done) or buy the multiple gift cards, then go to Customer Services in Market Street and ask them to consolidate into one gift card

        • +2

@kerfuffle: Finally got it all done. Surprisingly DJ was the toughest to do. Easiest was Myer followed by Westfield.
The DJ customer service lady wasn't very friendly so I will go some other time to consolidate them.
There are some gift card machines around, I wonder if those ones qualify or is the payment done by a different system? I didn't give them a try.

        • @forumninja: I don't know about qualifying (I'm going to assume it goes through a different system), but I'm pretty sure they come with a $4.95 or something fee as those machines are designed so you can print a message on the gift card

        • @forumninja: can you split payment for Westfield today? Is the notice still on?

        • @forumninja: No they go through a different seller - not DJs.

      • Last year I received confirmation emails for a 4th retailer due to a system error but didn't end up getting the credit.

  • Can anyone confirm the if anyone has got Coles GC at Myer@Melbourne and got credit .. Can it be done during the week or was the offer only yesterday.

    • The offer runs from August 31 to September 14.

    • I bought a coles myer group card from myer and got the credit notification.

    • Yes received $20 credit

  • -4

Is the cash back only for retailers in the CBD area? So no go at their shops in other locations (like Chadstone)??

    • +7

Third time I'm mentioning this …

This promotion is to encourage shopping in the city, so no, shopping at Chadstone won't count

      • Sorry! I read through the last page of comments and saw Westfield being mentioned and got confused. Thanks @kerfuffle

        • Chadstone isn't even a Westfield so not sure why you would be confused … (Westfield Sydney is the equivalent of Emporium Melbourne and no Emporitum aren't participating)

    • Try it and let us know how you went.

      • We went to Fountain gate instead. Don't think I'll receive an email…

        • +1

It's only at stores of specified addresses as noted by AMEX. All the listed stores are within the CBD.

        • +1

@KaptnKaos: I think they took your 'try it out' comment literally …

  • Has anyone gone to Pitt/Market St yet this morning? Were the conditions the same?

    • +2

The weather was much better today. Also more of a weekend crowd - very few suits.

    • +2

Split transactions not happening anymore. Westfield staff showing a printout from management saying no splits for duration of Amex promotion.

  • +3

$600 Coles Myer gift card (can be spent at Coles supermarket) split onto 12 cards at Myer Melbourne. Score! I just saved $240 on groceries with 10 minutes of work!

  • -6

Since Myer and DJ at same retail location, how is spend counted as?
Is it possible to get cask back if I spend at Myer and DJ
    Thank you

    • +2

Read the comments, read the post and let us know.

  • No queue at Westfield Sydney Level 2 (Microsoft side) when I walked past just now

    • +2

However they were checking id and making sure it matched the cards today. Still no splitting.

      • So the account holder can't use the supplementary cards attached to the base account in the absence of F&f?.:(

      • +3

Use Apple Pay or Android Pay, no name attached.

        • +2

Yep this. Be adamant that they're under your name. Also be very careful of making duplicate payments. Best to write the card numbers down and then cross them off a sheet.

        • Hi, I'm having trouble add8ng all my supp cards to google pay. It just keeps saying need to check with AMEX have experienced this and how to fix? Thanks

        • +1

@hvlam:You will need to wait for AMEX fraud department to contact you. After contacted you, fraud team will unlock their system, then you will be able to add the supp cards to your google pay.

        • +1

Apple Pay is limited to 6 AmEx cards now. Was 8 a few years ago. So annoying.

        • @hvlam:just call them and get verified. Did that yesterday.

        • @cynix:

Yep, just gotta cycle through them.

        • @Hallaj:
Do you need your supplementary cardholder to call up? Is it legal for primary cardholder to use a supplementary cardholder's card?

        • @Purple:
Is there a limit on number of AMEX cards you add to Google pay? I have 5 aready. When called up the guy just read the msg about card limit reached.

        • @hvlam: I called as primary card holder after adding my supp cards. Rep just asked for my credentials and all cards were through. And yes it's legal. Supp cards are yours after all.

        • @Hallaj:
Thanks. How many AMEX cards and total cards do you have on Google Pay, the AMEX CSR thinks there is a limit?

        • @hvlam: I've got 5.Not sure what's the limit. You may want to cycle through as mentioned earlier.

    • -2

hey Kerfuffle & OZB peeps, Any ideas if we buy 2 Westfield card 1x@pitt St and 1x@Market St, is it considered different location for 2x rebate or just regarded as single rebate as they seem to be listed separately.

Also I travel from Syd to Melb next week, any possibility of buying extra coles Myer card in both Sydney and Melbourne given its different store and location and will it be eligible for 2x rebate or just single rebate only.
Anyone who has received rebates can confirm would be great, thanks in advance. Cheers :)

      • +1

Read the comments. It has been mentioned multiple times.

      • +1

        You get both separately

  • Strange, the offer has disappeared from the saved offers list. It was definitely working as I got the emails for myer purchases.

    • Amex will show the offer as used. Website can’t cope with multi-use offers but credits will process correctly.

  • any shop in melbourne sells Itunes other than Myer?

    • +3

That’s participating? No (Buy a Coles Myer gift card and wait for 15% off at Coles or Officeworks)

      • Well you can go to Myers and get the itunes card, but issue i am having is i bought the coles myer gc lol.

        • +2

So use the Coles Myer Gift Card to buy an iTunes card when they go on sale at Coles Myer retailers? Or if you're that desperate, use the gift card to buy the iTunes card from Myer. I don't see what the major issue is …

  • +1

Price line is a good place to buy stuff hmmm

  • +4

Got my four lots of $20 credits for my Coles Myer and DJs gift card purchases (Myer had a difficult Team Leader who said that the Amex offer was only valid for Myer gift cards, then said Amex would see it as a funny transaction …)

See you at Vogue Fashion Night Out Sydney on Thursday! 😁

    • +1

Plenty of credits showing through today.

DJ credits being identified as Market St or Elizabeth St so definitely seems that you can double dip at DJs if you wish.

So far only bought Westfield gcs at Pitt St - credit comes through as Westfield Sydney. Anyone received credits from Westfield Market St yet?

All my Coles-Myers gcs from Myer have received their credits as expected.

      • Market St IS Westfield Sydney. The other one (Myer side) is Westfield Sydney Central Plaza. If it says Westfield Sydney, you must have bought them at the Microsoft side

        • Yes I bought them at the desk near Microsoft. I have always regarded that as in Pitt St.

        • +1

@SydneySwan: Probably should refer to them as Pitt St i.e. Westfield Sydney and George St i.e. Westfield Sydney Central Plaza rather than Market St then …

    • Amex would see it as a funny transaction …)

Lol, they can't see what you've purchased. The difficult team leader was probably trying to meet a Myer gift card sales target or something.

      • +1

Lol, they can't see what you've purchased. The difficult team leader was probably trying to meet a Myer gift card sales target or something.

Exactly. I was all just sell me the gift card; I'll take the risk.

        • +2

Haha that would've been my exact response.

        • +1

i will be shut up and take my money, biatch hahaha kidding

    • Online it indicates that Coles Myer gift cards are available in $10 and $100 and higher but no $50, if I purchase 5 $10 ones on one AE card will I be eligible for this offer. Or what is the best way to do this? Thank you.

      • +1

Go into store and buy 5 $10 gift cards? The offer isn't available online.

Seriously, some of the questions in this thread make me want to cry because they don't understand the terms and conditions or the answer is painfully obvious …

        • +2

Don't cry, kerfuffle. We all need your help to answer the Q and A :) By the way, Tissue is half price at Woolies if you need some :)

        • kerfuffle, I know you are the expert here and thank you for your help. But I am an expert on other issues and have also helped people many times even when I had to undertake further research. I did understand the terms and had an idea of what the answer was which I stated but wanted confirmation as I have not done this before and did not want to loose out on the benefit.
Again thanks for the answer and please do not cry.

        • +1

          @Yola:

Not sure which store you're buying from (Myer?) but typically when you buy in store you can get specific amounts for CM, such as $50. If Myer you should be able to get a $50 gift card.

        • +1

@Yola: I never said I was an expert. I just wish people would actually go and try things out themselves rather than being spoonfed as you don't learn unless you try …

        • +1

@Yola: Offer is.. Spend at retail stores and get back $20 if over $50. You can spend on wahtever you like instore as long as they sell it and as long as it's over $50 you will get the $20. Retail stores at specific on the website.

It's to get people in town to shop more etc…

  • +1

Bought 500 @ DJ split to 50 lots, no issues. Was at the women's section quiet as.

    • +2

hmm i dont know many people still shop at DJ. i really think they are overprice high end shopping mall

      • +2

I usually get them to price match other stores when I have gift cards to use

        • yes, best price matching in-store from my experience. no hope when trying to price match with their online store.

      • DJs sells better things than Myer (fashion wise in particular) and also price match. Plus mid season sale is coming up soon

        • +1

How good are the flowers on Level Ground.

        • +4

          @Turd:
How good are the groceries at Coles when they are half price, buying with discounted gift cards whilst reaching minimum spends to get xxxx bonus flybuys points

      • +1

I always forget to look, they do have good legitimate sales of items now and then same as Harvey Norman… but both have a ad reputation of high prices so most people don't check

  • +1

Split a $100 priceline gift card into 2 cards. One has email immediately and $20 cash back today. The other nothing, no email, no money :(

    • +3

Dumb question but you did register the second card, right?

      • good question.

      • +1

Yep, got $20 from Myer on that card already.

        • Weird. Try ask Amex if you haven't gotten anything by the end of the week
