  • No ability to play any other games? Why not just buy a 2nd hand one from the 90s?

      • This does indeed work with the in-built SNES Mini emulator (albeit a handful, e.g. ActRaiser 2, will not load)
Those games that do not work or from other consoles will need to use the RetroArch emulator.

        • U can add retroarch emulator

      • +1

That is the crazy thing, the unit has enough spare memory to install over a hundred games but only has 21.
Love it how additional games you add load in the interface like they were built originally in.

        • +1

Just using all save state slots for the included 21 games will almost completely fill the available space.
Unless you install a save state compression hmod, save states made using the official nintendo SNES emulator (canoe) are about 2MB each which greatly limits how many you can add.

It might be included with the more recent Hakchi CE versions, I'm still using an old one.

    • +1

I believe there is an opportunity to add more, but I'll leave it for others to comment about. Also I just checked eBay and Gumtree and most people are selling for $100 still

    • +12

because a second hand one is hard to find, old, has a big power pack/plug, won't come with 21 games unless at a huge price tag, doesn't have HDMI output, harder to find extra controllers, has a bigger foot print and you have to blow in the cartidges to make them work

      • -1

Most people would only play a fraction of those 21 included games. The lack of any of the Donkey Kong Country games is a major drawback, imo. Only the original NES had the issue of having to blow into the cartridge. SNES did not have this problem.

        • +1

FYI it includes the first Donkey Kong Country game (although the amazon page lists it as "Donkey Kong")

        • It's not hard to add the others

      • Don't forget that the batteries in the original cartridges are all dead by now so you can't save your game.

    • +1

Hakchi2 CE - Boom now you have all the games.

      • +2

plus a right OTG usb adapter and with the USB host MOD… basically anything that is not too intensive on the CPU (Killer Instinct 1 and 2) and most of the CPS3 games. Pretty awesome little device :D…

  • +1

Here's a permalink directly to the product page with Amazon AU as the seller.

    • +1

      Thank you!

  • +3

Aww damn I paid $119 and I haven't open it yet. Good price for a great console!!

  • 5% cashback. Don't forget.

    • Does NOT apply to the amazon20 code. Don't forget.

      • Damn, didn't realise.

  • how much was the catch of day deal?

    • $49 but only 50 available and very hard to get. So, many people complained.

      • I hate those. They're just click bait.

I remember last time gearbest or something had like $10 deals on phones and $1 deals on some other gadgets, limited stock only qty 5. They actually posted logs of who bought what and they all bought it at like several seconds when it went live, which is nearly impossible to pull off without scripts.

AND majority of the purchases were from places like Russia / China.

I think there was only one Aussie to managed to snag something.

        • I agree, it's really unfair because scripts can take over, they needed a system like Click Frenzy with verification to stop it. DrMilan was just asking for the cheapest ever so I provided the link :)

  • wow $49 is crazy price.. how the hell can they do that.. surely they sold them at a loss just to get themselves more people coming through the site

    • You may be on to something!!

      • usual tactic by big retail stores

  • AMAZON20 isn't working so where is the deal here? I'm seeing 146$, Kogan has a $119 pre-order price

    • +1

The main link in the OP is $113.05, then use AMAZON20.

      • Got it, cheers!

edit: Just wanna comment on the value here, getting the free delivery with Prime as well really makes this one of the better gaming deals going.

        Thanks for posting!

        • You're welcome :)

It’s all in the past now. Let it go.

  • +1

    Great price!

  • +1

Excellent. Pulled the trigger on this one.

  • +4

People pay 100 bucks for 40 year old computer games and a 5 dollar Linux board.

    Wow.

    • +3

It's official Nintendo™ hardware. It wouldn't fetch half the price if it was some backyarders mod.

    • +3

Yeah I'm not sure why everyone here is calling this a bargain. Run an emulator off your computer and you'll get the same thing. You don't even have to have a new computer either. (hence 40 year old tech gimmick)

I'm sure this could even run off a PI with some adjustments. But I'm not clued in on that.

    • +4

Well, you have the advantage that it’s legal too.

You may as well say: “People buy BluRays for $20 LOL. I get them from my mate for $1 each”.

Plus you get two SNES controllers that look and feel like the originals. That has to be worth something.

    • Childhood memory is in play I guess. New generations have never been through the era of SNES won't pay a dollar for 16 bit games.

      • -1

I've been through the era of SNES and won't pay a dollar for those games because they're obsolete. The fact that it comes preinstalled with 21 games (and that's not even 1% of it's capacity) is proof enough that they don't need to make money.

  • Im running out of email addresses to use AMAZON20 arg!!

    • +2

No need to make new emails, just add a +1 each time increasing in size to the prefix of your current email when signing up and it will send the emails to your main.

      • +1

Don’t quite understand. What do you mean?

        • It's a bit hard to explain, see here for reference, should be easier to understand that way.

        • @doweyy:

And you haven't ran into any problems with Amazon doing this?
Will give it a go, cheers

        • @Madaaara:

Nope, I have heaps of accounts now and have had no backlash whatsoever, it's great!

        • @doweyy:

Paying with the same card and shipped to the same address?
I've done that four times now lol, but with different emails as opposed to doing the +1 trick

        • @Madaaara:

          Yep :) Exact same details!

  • +2

Wish I could go back in time and tell me 18-year-old self to hold onto my SNES and Sega Megadrive for just another 20 years, instead of selling them for $20 each. Wonder where my Gameboy is :)

    • +2

Don't forget to bring a sports almanac too :)

      • +1

        Oh LàLà….!

      • And a flux capacitor while you're at it :D

  • Hmm, this or run an emulator….

    • +3

This is less hassle and has controllers that are identical to the originals.

I’m happy to pay $100 for a nice case, good controllers, no hassle, and the fact that it is legal.

      • +1

Legal until you decide you wanted more than the original 21 games…. and decide to side load games onto it.

  • +2

    Bought one a while ago.

Opened it, installed Hackchi (or whatever it's called), played Turtles in Time, packed it up and it hasn't been opened since.

I was excited to play it, but nostalgia only goes so far.

P.S. If your room is any bigger than a postage stamp, grab a 5m HDMI cable from Officeworks for cheap. At least then you don't have to sit on the floor.

    • Still have to power it from that distance, too. Another alternative is to grab some controller extension cables off eBay for slightly more. Your way gives easier access to the reset button, though.

  • Are there still any new users?

    • I haven't bought anything off Amazon AU.

    • my gmail email allows me to create 20 amazon accounts im only through to my 5th one. hahahaha

      • What sorcery is this?

  • +2

    Got one, thanks!

Those 8bitdo wireless snes controllers are looking mighty tempting.

  • Anyone else wondering why this game system has an M rating?

    • +1

Because kids during SNES era have matured?

  • +1

Great price - bought mine in the last sale and love it to bits, so many happy memories. Teaching my 3 year old to play it and she loves it too, although sadly she loves Super Ghouls and Ghosts which is stupid hard and I don't know why they put it on there. Don't buy it for Star Fox 2 though - I was excited for it and upon playing, realised there was a reason it wasn't released and that's because it was POS.

Pls note because my husband is a true Ozbargainer, we tried the cheap emulator way first with 8bitdo controllers and ugh, no, this is so much better.

  • i want a nintendo 64 with all the games

  • Box says 20+1 games

    201 games great.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh3Yz3PiXZw

  • Anyone got one of these? It appears mario kart has the blue shell. Never remember the OG Mario Kart having the blue shell. Unless i was high on my pain meds when playing it on the mini snes

    • +1

      Definitely high, no blue shell.

  • Snatched up both NES & SNES Classic Mini's right before the code expired. Don't imagine it will get that much cheaper that this before Christmas.
