How much you nab it for? Not a bad price, but should be cheaper considering new release within 3-6 months.

I got one when EM had 32% cashback, then 28d price protected)
      ($539.95 - $169.58 - $100.95 = $269.42)

So don't care if it's not the latest for that price :P.

Switch 2 is 99% backwards compatible..

Not a reason for a downvote but you'd have to have a very specific reason to buy this now.

This is the right take imo. You play a switch, portably, and it broke and you don't want to wait 4 months for a new one, you reluctantly purchase an OLED because it has a small discount. That's the buyer.

      Everyone else, just wait.

    • The only reasons that I can think for buying an OLED switch post-switch2 launch is if you wanted to mod it or if you could not afford a switch 2 (but not at this price)

Not that I'm endorsing it, but as demand continues to drop for the OLED (2nd hand switches will be everywhere with people looking to upgrade), the price for new switches should plummet pretty quickly, you could get a new switch oled on a huge discount in the next 12 months, mod it, and have access to every switch game and play through a huge catalogue while the switch 2 game library 'finds its feet'. From what I've heard, the Switch 2 screen will be IPS (not OLED) so if nintendo don't make Switch games run better on the Switch 2 (unlikely), you might actually have a better experience playing those games if you play handheld only

That said, if I were to personally consider doing this I'd probably just try to marketplace a beaten up switch lite with a broken screen for a very low price, and then mod and shell and screen swap for an oled and hall effect sticks instead

the price I suppose. $us450 & early June release is rumoured, which is over $au700 ! ouch.

      • I bet it's going to be $800 - $900.

        • 😲 I'm not doubting that it will cost a bit but for that price wouldn't most people get a PS5?

          • @G-rig: Switch 2 is more desirable than a PS5 for many people. Handheld and Nintendo exclusives.

            • @367: Yes, get that then. Agreed, it's more fun and casual, good for multiplayer and kids.. not full on nerd-hours and addictive.
Just saying like everything brand new it will be overpriced with minimal discounts.

            • @367: I hate that Nintendo games are rehashes of their older games with a few new things in it… but I can't help but buy their games and consoles.

I have a gaming laptop, a PS5 and a Switch, and the Switch has seen way more game time than any of my other devices.

        • Likely going to be at the current Oled switch 1 pricing ($400-450)
And the switch 1 gets a price cut.

          • @YoursTruly: Ithink around $500, any more then its competing with PS5 or XSX. Also Nintendo has always been the affordable option for parents which they know sells units and in turn the software.

Buy this to mod and play the full switch 1 library and using the switch 2 as main for online play.

But just buy used off FBM. Can get OLED switches tablet only for $250ish

mod and play the full switch 1 library and using the switch 2 as main for online play

      That’s a good idea

  • Switch 2 better land cheaper than this or I'ma out
