  • Initial online orders that were put in before they ran out of the stock in their warehouse will be fulfilled.
  • Orders after the stock ran out will not be fulfilled as they usually can put another order in from the manufacturer but as it's a discontinued, they can't get more stock.
  • People who put in an order early but chose click and collect will get it if the local store had stock. If no stock, you wont get nothing as the warehouse ran out of the stock fairly quickly with online orders and deliveries.

Might as well bundle it with the air guitar for a quick sale

      • +1

Comes with a free long stand.

  • It is on the site still, just cannot add it.

  • +8

Well I was just emailed a tax invoice and in my order details it says that it's been picked up by the courier with delivery for tomorrow. Might actually get one of these things.

    • Excellent. Keep us updated.

      • +1

Will do. I did purchase it about 10 mins after the deal was posted, that may be the reason it's gotten this far.

        • I was about 15 minutes after the post. Crossing my fingers.

        • @thirdeyechai: Mine was 8 minutes after the post but it still got cancelled, i did click and collect though. Pretty bullshit.

      • +4

Just got notification of a missed delivery from office works. I'll need to head into the post office to get it but it looks like I got one.

        • That seems promising.

    • Interesting. What time is on your invoice?

      • +2

        About 11.40am

        • +1

Far out, we must have purchased it at exactly the same time. Crazy

        • +2

@Elderlymango: lol no, I was just telling matt-e what time you purchased.

        • @Master Bates: Ok that was a big blond moment… Could you pretend you purchased it at the same time as me? That way I don't look as stupid :p

        • @Elderlymango:
My email confirmation with ship estimate 30th Nov arrived at 11:50 but gives the 'cannot be tracked… call' message when clicking track link in the email. I think you're saying yours shows picked for delivery when you click. What date was estimated in the automated confirmation email you got?

While I'll be jealous if you get one, I'll actually feel a bit better about officeworks activity by honoring it for the stock they have

        • +1

@TheLurker: On the office works website if I click track order it says that it's in transit with a delivery date of Friday (18/05/18)

      • There's no time indicated on the invoice, however my confirmation email of the purchase came through at 11:40AM.

  • +1

I think everybody got sent an order confirmation and tax invoice. I did as well. But the tracking is borked when you click the link. Nobody is getting any projectors…

  • I took the gamble too (not caring if I didnt get it) but the order has not shown in my account, I have got no emails, no correspondence of any kind, but the $295 came out of my credit card.

Anyone else in this boat? I am not sure how I'm going to get my money back as I can't prove anything!?!

    • +2

Dude, the money came out of your account that is your proof

    • I got an order confirmation email and money deducted

  • +3

To be honest, happy to get a refund. Had no use for it and impulsively bought the projector due to the 100+ votes.

Damn all you people that bought this when you didn't need it!!! I've been on the hunt for a reasonably priced projector to use when doing murals and this could have been it haha

    • +1

    • If I receive one, I'll sell it to you at a huge discount of $1200 :) I'll even cover the postage.

      • -1

Woah, that's a fantastic deal. You're giving a huge discount of $1200 … so you'll pay me $905 to take it from you? So generous!

  • I received my tax invoice and was charged 295 To my CC. I still think a refund is on the way

  • i was also charged & received an invoice. Unable to track.

  • Anyone paid and opt in for CLICK AT STORE and got one today?

    • I opted for Click and Collect. My estimated pickup date is 30th lol . So, I think i will begetting my money back I guess?

    • Did a collect in store est 30 May. Also got invoice and money deducted. Tracking and order history on OW website were not there

    • Got email confirmation & charged on CC. Should I wait for ready to collect email or I just go straight to store? I don't wanna trigger a refund. :p

    I want one. Faaaaaarrrrrrk.
Ill offer anyone $10 more than you paid for it. lol

  • +19

Alright everyone. Here is the breakdown.

OfficeWorks had some stock so initial orders will be fulfilled but only if they were Delivery and not in-store pickup (unless the store you selected had some local stock)

I called in and learned there key facts.

    1. Item was discontinued and was put on clearance.
    2. Initial online orders that were put in before they ran out of the stock in their warehouse will be fulfilled.
    3. Orders after the stock ran out will not be fulfilled as they usually can put another order in from the manufacturer but as it's a discontinued, they can't get more stock.
    4. People like me who put in an order early but chose click and collect will get it if the local store had stock. If no stock, you wont get nothing as the warehouse ran out of the stock fairly quickly with online orders and deliveries.
    5. Random fact : Hi5s are better than handshakes.

Call them and get your refund! The game's over now.

    Adios Amigos!

    • +1

They should prioritise by time of order regardless of delivery or collect in store.

      • +6

Don’t take it to Heart…life is bigger than this
There is a lot of “they should” in this case. I would be happy get my money back ASAP and get on with life again..

      • +1

It actually makes sense from a business point of view to not do that. In store Click & COllect when there is no local stock is extra work. Store staff will need to engage their time in receiving goods from the warehouse and then getting is ready for delivery to the customer.

Man, it's just another day! haha, no biggie. We will have heaps of other deals.

Well he did like sleeping in a bed with a lot of young naked women, so he must be right about the projector.

@c0balt: >Well he did like sleeping in a bed with a lot of young naked women, so he must be right about the projector.

          Were you one of them?

        • +3

          @IMadeYouReadThis:

Well no.. I'm not old and decrepit enough to have been invited. Funny story though because I was actually told this by your mum, she was also very upset that she wasn't allowed in the bed because she was twice the size of it.

Had she not been banished from Ghandi's bed, she wouldn't have met your father around the dumpsters at the back, although there was a lot of debate between the 20 guys there as to who actually was your biological father.

    • The OzBargain Intelligence Community thanks you for your service.

    • I got my confirmation at 11:52am with Delivery chosen. I haven't receieved any cancellation email yet.

    • Did you select collect in store?

      • Nope.

    • Was it an automated email? What was your order time? I've still not received a cancellation email.

      • +1

Same here, no cancellation on click & collect (5th June), so there is a chance the order would be succesful I guess. LOL

        • Order time: 11:40 AM (WA)
          Delivery: Est. Thursday, June 07 , 2018

          Fingers' crossed!

  • -2

So it's not a price error if someone received the projector. Not fulfilling others, hmmm….

  • No cancellation for me yet, Due date 30th May, Click and Collect

I ordered one at 12:20PM yesterday for delivery. No cancellation email yet, will be interested to see what time the stock ran out.

        • Me too, expecting a late cancellation email.

Was totally worth the it though, cheap way to rent some hopes n dreamz.

        • Just received my cancellation. 27 hours of hope atleast.

  • Just got the cancellation email. 😫

    • What was your order time? CC or Delivery?

      • Ordered within 29 minutes or post. And had delivery selected

They should at least offer an alternative good deal.
Plenty of projectors for them to choose from.
    Poor form otherwise.

    • +5

Why? The deal clearly said it might be an error, so we were all aware that it might not be fulfilled. Yet we all bought it anyway, hoping to score a deal off their poor stock system. If we get it, hurrah, but if we don't get it, we shouldn't be disappointed because we all knew it might not be fulfilled. They didn't force us to buy it, we chose to take a gamble.

Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose… that's just life. We knew what we were getting into, so there's no reason to get upset or angry at OW.

I would think being upset that we lost a gamble we willingly entered would be considered poor form. If you can't handle losing, don't play the game. It'd be nice if they offered something to compensate, but they absolutely do not have to.

      • +2

Because their system should limit the sales to the quantity in stock.
        Nothing to do with Ozbargain.
Nothing to do with what customers expectations are.

Selling something you don't have is poor form. Very poor.

        • Because their system should limit the sales to the quantity in stock.

Right at the top of the deal post is a line in bold saying it could be a price error, i.e. the deal might not be fulfilled.

So we all knew that we might not receive the item.

So when we don't, why get so upset?

        • +3

          @eug:

          You don't listen do you?

The Officeworks site has nothing to do with Ozbargain.

The transaction is between any customer and Officeworks.

Whatever is stated on here is irrelevant.

Officeworks sold items it does not have and cannot order in.

        • -1

          @trevor99:

Whatever is stated on here is irrelevant.

          You found the deal here.
You are complaining about it here.

          There's your relevance.

Officeworks sold items it does not have and cannot order in.

Welcome to the world of online shopping. If you can't handle it, don't join in.

If you've never experienced it before, welcome - you must be new to shopping online. Life doesn't always go your way.

        • +3

Because their system should limit the sales to the quantity in stock.

This is true. I’ve experienced this issue with David Jones, Hardly Normal and Officeworks. Computerised stock in real time is basic stuff for 2018.

        • @eug: I didn't order any but I still get upset how piece of Sh!t is OW online store and how incompetent is their store staff. If OW cannot handle this basic online store real time quantity limitation they should operate like Repco, in store only!

        • @wtfnodeal: Calm down, relax, no need to get so worked up over a store not having stock.

It's amusing how so many people get soooo worked up when they miss out on a deal. :)

If OW cannot handle this basic online store real time quantity limitation they should operate like Repco, in store only!

These edge cases are probably 0.001% of their annual sales. For all the other normal everyday things they sell, their system probably works absolutely fine. I've never had problems buying regular items online from OW.

How much do you expect OW to spend just to cater to bargain hunters looking for cheap products that don't earn OW much, if any, profit?

It's all about me me me me nowadays, unfortunately.

        • @eug: they suck on not setting limited quantities on this item that means all other items on their online store are not set with a quantity limit. Their problematic online store has been this shit since years ago and no improvement. I don't care about their profits but the online shopping experience with OW just sucks. Of course it is about me me me when customers first and if I am the retailer I would say you you you.

        • @wtfnodeal:

I don't care about their profits but the online shopping experience with OW just sucks.

It looks like the online shopping experience with OW only sucks when it comes to low-stock, high-demand items like this underpriced projector.

I don't think OW is too worried about outliers like that.

Of course it is about me me me when customers first and if I am the retailer I would say you you you.

It's the me me me me mentality that's disappointing. We all knew there was a possibility the orders would not be fulfilled, so we should not be upset when it happens. There's a strong sense of entitlement here. We can all get excited over gambles like this, but we shouldn't be sore losers when we lose.

        • @eug: not just underpriced items or high demand items have insufficient online quantity issue. I have bought stuff online from OW at RRP also have stock issue when I called the store if I could pick up today they said yes. When I got there they said I couldn't find your stuff and none left on shelves try to call and come back again. I was like wtf!!
I am not only talking about this incident but overall shopping experience with OW sucks. So you walk in store and paid at the counter then the staff tells you the box you carry is empty please come back again later not disappointing? Of course there is entitlement to the goods you paid for and why should we expect more or less? If the stores not sure if they have what is up for sale then why put it up for people to order and pay for it? If you are not confident in operating your store online then just do your business in an old fashion in store only. If your staff isn't capable managing the stocks either at all just close the stores for good then.
Edit: so as DJ go fnck themselves!

        • @wtfnodeal:

When I got there they said I couldn't find your stuff and none left on shelves try to call and come back again. I was like wtf!!

How many times did that happen?

So you walk in store and paid at the counter then the staff tells you the box you carry is empty please come back again later not disappointing?

Has that happened to you? How many times?

Things will always slip through the cracks with any business. What matters is how often it happens. You can't take a few isolated examples and say the entire $2 billion business should close all their stores just because you had some bad experiences. Clearly the vast majority of people out there aren't experiencing the same problems as you.

        • @eug: they don't have stock controls in place and not knowing how much stock in terms or quantities and value then their business is set to fail especially stocks are the biggest assets in their company. These isolated few cases are the warnings but they choose to ignore. Case closed!

        • -2

@wtfnodeal: OK, so we all heard it here first. wtfnodeal predicts that OfficeWorks will fail because their website can't keep track of unusual really cheap, clearance items like this.

When that happens I'll come back and congratulate you. If it doesn't happen, well … you're free to believe whatever you want I guess.

        • -1

@eug: not just clearance items you idiot. All their items including those high value items have no stock level monitoring and controls. Dude you should pay attention at school or go back to high school for your own good. They won't go bankrupt if they could maintain monopoly position like they do with their Bunnings stores or keep on injecting money into it but lack of stock control means unnecessary lost of profits or even loss in long term.
Damn I don't know why I am wasting time with your childish behaviour who doesn't even listen like Trevor99 said. That's it no more free lesson for kids like you. Go ask your high school teachers if you don't understand.

        • -2

          @wtfnodeal:

not just clearance items you idiot.

Now now, no need to resort to being childish and calling people names in an argument. You know what they say, when you resort to acting like a child, you've lost the argument.

So it looks like now you're saying no, their business is not set to fail because "they don't have stock controls in place". That was a quick turnaround.

          Have a nice week!
