Update:

  • Item was discontinued and was put on clearance.
  • Initial online orders that were put in before they ran out of the stock in their warehouse will be fulfilled.
  • Orders after the stock ran out will not be fulfilled as they usually can put another order in from the manufacturer but as it's a discontinued, they can't get more stock.
  • People who put in an order early but chose click and collect will get it if the local store had stock. If no stock, you wont get nothing as the warehouse ran out of the stock fairly quickly with online orders and deliveries.

    • Just read a quick review, the projector has rainbow artefacts it seems and I think that would cause unsatisfactory results

      • +1

All cheaper DLP projectors have rainbow effect - it's a function of the technology.

In real use, it's not a big deal.

        • +3

It really just depends on the person viewing it. Not everyone can see the rainbow artifacts. I can and it's annoying, but I think it's one of those things where if you don't think about it, it won't bother you.

        • +2

Varies from person to person. Personally I see the rainbow affect every time my eyes shift the smallest amount (such as following action on screen from the left to right of the screen).

        • +1

@kapone: That's actually how you test for the rainbow effect on DLP projectors. The rule of thumb is if you move your head from left to right and can see a rainbow effect then the projector is a single chip DLP. Not sure if 3 chip DLP is still insanely expensive (I have honestly not looked in years) but that's the only way to truly eliminate it. Faster colour wheels help but still don't 100% eliminate it.

  • looks like online orders have stopped?

    • +3

Ordered 2 for delivery after your comment.
These can be used as dual screen.

  • Delivery estimate showing 30th May for me in Gold Coast. Is that a red flag, or are Officeworks just generally slow to ship?

  • +3

Online orders back on again. Got one! Thanks OP.

    • +4

Still pretty standard on projectors as they're often used in offices with outdated equipment. Thankfully has HDMI as well.

    • +4

      hdmi and full HD 1080p

    • +6

      It's got 2 x 1080p HDMI inputs…

      • Some websites claim it has 3D too?

    • +3

Seems pretty old to me with VGA, RCA, S-Video connections.

It was built for the educational market where those connections could still be useful. It does have HDMI and MHL too, as others have stated. Having more inputs than a standard projector is a good thing. You can connect virtually anything to this, from a VCR to a 15 year old laptop to a Bluray player to a SurfaceBook.

Just called Officeworks and North Ryde Sydney store says it is a product that isn't in stores and stock comes delivered from the supplier. They expect a delivery time of 11 - 19 business days.

  • Didn't need…bought 1 anyway.

  • Tempting. But I have 2 projectors currently… only 720p. But my wife would kill me if I upgrade when we don't use them that often.

Plus the lamp replacement cost is $250+, not for me.

    • +3

This projector would probably be almost as cheap as replacing your current projector lamp.

    • +4

Tempting. But I have 2 projectors currently… only 720p. But my wife would kill me if I upgrade when we don't use them that often.

Sell both projectors for $150 each.
      You'll end up with 1 1080p short-throw projector and $5 profit.

Plus the lamp replacement cost is $250+, not for me.

How much does it cost to replace the lamps in your 2 projectors?

      • Or no projectors at all and $300.

    • 125 days of use though ;)

    • $250 (or more) for the DLP bulbs is a deal breaker for me. I’ve had >1.5 years solid use out of my Epson TW-5300 projector on the original bulb. New bulbs are $99.

  • Bought! I have an aging Samsung 46" and hopefully this will see me stop cleaning fingerprints!
