  • Initial online orders that were put in before they ran out of the stock in their warehouse will be fulfilled.
  • Orders after the stock ran out will not be fulfilled as they usually can put another order in from the manufacturer but as it's a discontinued, they can't get more stock.
  • People who put in an order early but chose click and collect will get it if the local store had stock. If no stock, you wont get nothing as the warehouse ran out of the stock fairly quickly with online orders and deliveries.

        • LoL. Thought I was missing out on something

just got my refund over the phone… there should be laws which enforce ppl to honour their ozbargains.

    • +3

      hahaha DEMAND your rights!
If that doesn't work DEMAND a Royal Commission into it

      • +1

Exactly! I'll vote for the first party who promises a Royal Commission into Officeworks at the next election!

      • +2

Actually under Consumer Affairs the company is actually demanding their rights right now by saying its a pricing error lol.
check the link above that i posted from Consumer Affairs Victoria.

        • I wouldn't say it's that clear cut! In that case they should have removed the item from sale, instead of processing the orders and taking money out of people's bank accounts.

  • +4

Because an employee pressed the wrong button, you want to take the company to court?

    • +1

Not directed to anyone specifically.. Just those making outlandish claims.

        • +6

I agree. Nothing lasts anymore on this site like it used to.

If OP really wanted the projector he def decreased his chance once he posted here.

        • @richmond12: op didn’t order one.. left it for the ozb’s deall exploded much more then expected lol.. shame it’s a price error

    • +2

      I disagree that it's "too big" - I think it's great.
It's this that I agree with "people who don't need a product but think they can make big bucks selling it on."

    • Pfft.

  • +8

Has nothing to do with being greedy. Officeworks clearly show item as clearance. Have personally seen many sales that were way under cost.

    • +1

Yes a year or 2 back I bought 2x5TB HDs for around $150 each. Seemed to good to be true but got 2 for pickup :)

I come for the oz bargains.
I stay for the ozbargain rage comments.

        • its bullsh*t and you know it

      • +2

Yes lol. 10,000 people claiming lost earnings and emotional distress…due to spending half their working day on Ozbargain chasing a pricing error then complaining about it when it didn’t come off

        • +1

Im suing for millions. Just for pain and suffering.

  • +2

If the price is too good to be true…

Every time there’s a pricing error the comments section morphs from excitement into an entitled and toxic Whirlpool style thread

This one was no exception. Stone cold classic.

  • LOL no such thing as a free lunch!

    • +1

It wasn't free, it costed $300

      • +5

        Wasn't lunch either.

        • +1

Hey, what I do with my projector in the privacy of my own home is none of your business!

  • Purchased 50 of them to put on gumtree, hope I get it.

    • +2

50 you'll get for sure… Order cancellation emails.

    • You spent $15,000 without a care in the world. lol

      • 50 projectors but only 2 shoes.. priorities

  • +4

2 minutes to take my money and 2 days to get it back. Typical.

    • +3

2 days? Good luck with that. Try 2 to 3 weeks more like it.

      • -3

I paid with paypal so its easy to demand a refund instantly

    • I called them up earlier and they sent the refund instantly over the phone, they confirmed it was an error.

      • What number did you call?

        • 1300 633 423, took no time at all to get onto them.

  • any tell james to stop calling me, im not interested in his property crap

  • +4

We've BenQuite (see what I did there?) screwed over by Office Works- never shopping there again ………….

……..well not until I need them to beat a price by 5%

  • -1

Anyone notice the bottom of their confirmation email:

    Copyright ?? 2015 Officeworks.

    • +2

      QUICK! REPRODUCE THEIR WEBSITE!

  • +5

    Price error. Move to forums.

  • +12

just spoke to head office to hasten the refund - sorted straight away, thankfully! as an aside, poor woman in the call centre was saying that they’re copping abuse - screaming down the phone etc. its just a projector, people! (apparently the internal memo provided to the call centre says hey sold 1900 units).

      • +22

sure, it's disappointing - but getting worked up about a price error to the point where you're yelling at a call centre employee isn't healthy - it's messed up. & it makes you a pretty crappy human imho.

        • And anyone wonders why people say a retail job sucks. This is why.

        • -6

Look at it another way, if Officeworks dealt with this when the first few orders came in this wouldn't have occurred. Instead they have let people believe that they have gotten one, I still haven't received a cancellation email from them and I was one of the first to order. They're too pathetic to even pay overtime to have some staff stay back to send out cancellation emails and refunds, instead they will drag this out over a week.

        • @Maverick-au: I'm expecting a refund in a month.

        • just give them a buzz - they refund over the phone. paypal is instant and CC should show up overnight.

        • +2

@Maverick-au: dude, you are trying to capitalise on a clear mistake - something flagged my many people at the time this deal was posted. try be less angry, its not healthy.

        • +1

The product says clearance so the price is believable so how is it a clear mistake? And who didn't Officeworks change the price or take action until 7:20pm last night when they removed it from the website?

There's no anger, I didn't expect to get it but the fact is that Officeworks and other large retailers don't care about developing decent websites or stopping errors like this because they know there are no penalties for their actions. The laws that protect them need to change so that large companies have to rectify errors within a very short time frame. They knew about this for at least 7 hours and did nothing.

      • +1

People like you are why working retail can suck. While it's an unfortunate situation, a bit of leeway on both sides allows everyone to have a better experience.

  • +6

It really doesn't seem like a price error to me since it was listed as a "clearance" item after all. Obviously they can't fulfil all those orders though. Oh well, as long as the refund comes swiftly.

  • +2

Well at the very least hope few or so units could be dispatched for the first few; if this was in store and it was advertised at that price I think they would be obligated to honour it?!

  • +9

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BenQ-MH856UST-Educational-FHD-Pr…

Some ozbargainer actually thinks they will receive the item.

    • even wants to charge for shipping smh lol

    • Maybe he got the one and only BenQ UST that Office Works actually had in stock and for sale.

Says they are asking $3100 for it- WTF

      • +1

was asking for around 800 earlier. I wouldn't be surprised if that guy is on here as well. Realized it is not going to happen and changed the price to 3100 to make sure it either does not sell or if someone was stupid enough it is enough to buy one and still sell at a profit….

        • I might buy it just for a larf and see what happens

        • +1

@alidli: yeah. Guess who will have the last laugh if you do?

    • I noticed in the description of the listing, it states "RRP $2,250 street price $1750" and yet the buy it now price is $3100.

    • Who wants to buy it and try and get the person to honour it?

    • +2

proves there are greed on ozbargain and sadly very abusive people here as well :(

  • i they come for you all, I am sure they will be on ebay soon…. :)
Good luck to all, I missed out

  • -7

Haven’t received cancellation notice from Officeworks yet and money is showing as paid to them, as far as I’m concerned if they do not honour sale then they in breach of contract and their own terms and conditions which clearly states that remedy options lay with the buyers. If get refund will take to accc and vic fair trading. Have had good success over the past. If enough people do this they may think twice about not honouring their legal obligations.

    • +1

Well i think you will find a pricing error can be an out for them.

    • +1

There is no legal obligation. It's a price error, This discussion has been had a thousand times.

    • Let us know how that goes.

If get refund will take to accc and vic fair trading. Have had good success over the past.

Out of interest do you have any examples of pricing errors that you’ve had successfully honoured by going to the ACCC / Vic Fair Trading?

    • +2

Let me throw a hypothetical out there. You have a $40,000 car which you've listed on car sales incorrectly for $4,000. I call you and say "I'll take it at the asking price". You agree. I show up and hand you the money in an envelope. You open the envelope see the $4,000 and then debate that was an error and its $40k. You originally agreed and accepted my money. Now going by what you've said, we've entered into a contract of sale and you must legally abide by it… yeah we all know that's going to happen and you'll lose $36k
Just move on and forget about it. You don't have legal leg to stand on

      • +1

        Well said.

  • i received confirmation of order email after placing the order about 30mins later. i know they can still cancel it at this stage, but some ppl do need a projector..not for resell….

    • mate, you can still buy a projector, just not at this price. You make it sound like OW has hurt you, or is depriving you a human right. go buy a projector if you need one

  • +3

You wouldn't believe it - after receiving information that my order would be cancelled I headed for the pub to drown my sorrows. Upon leaving, there were a couple of guys in a white van in the car park selling an almost identical projector for only a few dollars more! I am once again at peace.

    • Hope you got some banging speakers as well.

    • Sure not been reported lost stocks?

  • +1

I CALLED IT. Hilarious seeing everyone having a big sook "omg lets report to the ACCC". Ahhh so funny!

    • ACCC. Class action lawsuits. Fair trading. PayPal dispute. Customer service calls fielded by the CEO.

      OzBargain BINGO!

  • Haha
Damn…I was about to sook until I read till the bottom of the comments…..

  • +1

If ordering this today has taught me anything, it's that I really ought to use the BenQ projector I already have from a previous Ozbargain impulse buy more often… :P

  • -7

So surprising that this does not have a single negative vote yet - dont think anyone will get anything out of this deal

      • +7

Maybe just maybe cause when the deal was posted it clearly said “Keep in mind Could be a price error

        • +1

That's fine, it's still being up voted as we speak though. So why not put in some down votes to show everyone else that there is no deal to be had here and only dumb comments about making reports to the ACCC from ozbargains pseudo lawyers.

        • +5

@koom: way I look at the votes it’s a thanks op good find but better luck next time, end of the day this post will be moved to forums & there will be 0 votes so don’t stress

        • @koom:

I do agree, The positive votes is misleading the way it is sometimes applied as it makes people think the deal is valid and / or the retailer / store is trustworthy or good etc when other people only apply it for the OP . In this case this deal was not a deal at all so it shouldnt be upvoted right? It doesnt make sense.

    • +3

It was nice of OP to post it though, just in case it worked for a few Members.

  • I bought one, might not have a dark enough room for it.

Might have to offload it to someone else
