    I spoke to optus, current phone is 12 months into contract (12 months to go)
    I arranged an upgrade deal for the s9+ 64gb (could of had the 256gb but decided with the 64gb as it has expandable memory)
    Deal i got was $250 off paying out original phone plus 25% off the 24 month base mobile plan of $59 So my monthly payment is $59.25 including handset and got to keep my number

    • Wonder will they offer any further discount for new customers?

    • I spoke to two different sales reps and they would not offer any deals even though I am meant to have bundle discount

    • Was this online or in store? Too hard to believe they are taking $250 off + discount..

      •  I have an email to prove my offer as I said I wanted it in writing before I went a recontracted

          They offered me $250 off the handset I had to pay out and I said it wasn't good enough then she offered me 10% the new contract and I said I signed up on a 25% and I would only recontract if that was given agian and she agreed

        • @GerrardLFC: yes I went through to cust care and spent 1H40m and it's done. s9+ 256gb $63 per month. I think she made an error but have it in an email and in the chat transcript. Thanks to princess_nik_nak for that tip. They can do the 25% F&F on the 256gb or a straight $10 off per month for the 64gb. In my case, the consultant seems to have calculated the discount off the total monthy charge rather than just the access charge. See how we go billing time. Make that the second bill as the first bill is always a mess.

          @princess_nik_nak: I was fobbed off as I am 11 months through my current plan. Were you over the 12 month mark? Or just before or close to?

          I got the S9+ over the weekend for my misses and already have the S8+ with the F&F discount. They were able to apply the F&F discount to my partners phone, so I was really happy with that. It's now $59.20pm!!! They also said that I will be able to apply this if I upgrade when my 12months is up and I opt to Trade Up for $99.

          Also, we signed up for the S9+ from Harvey Norman in Blacktown @$74pm and we received the $100 gift card (can be used anywhere as it is an eftpos card) and a life proof case free (god knows the misses needs it)

        • Do you have a copy of the contract? The email isnt quite enough for them to match the offer as it doesnt say what offer you are getting the discount from. Obviously black out any sensitive stuff :)

      Make sure to check your bills in detail with Optus discounts.. for last years 25% off for F&F they really stuffed up my wife's discount… didn't apply correctly for 4 months and online chat was hopeless

      2. What discount are you referring to? Multiple services, family and friends, the buy one and sign up one new service deal or something else?

    If I get wife to port out and then apply for this plan, will it work?

    • Both my service were off contract, just signed one up for the s9+ and the other stayed on the $40pm double data. Will wait to see if an iPhone 8 or x plan come up again and ill upgrade the wife plan

        • I asked for any further discount or throw anything extra on the deal but was told no. I didn't know about the 25% when I recontracted both services.

    EDIT: Just spent 30 minutes on livechat with a braindead rep, asked him a simple question that really should've been answered in less than 5 minutes. This isn't my first experience with braindead reps either, Optus' livechat customer service is pretty shitty - most of them do not know what the hell they are talking about

      Lilac is actually sold out, none available for weeks according to an Optus rep I talked to. By far most popular variety. Samsung also vastly underestimated how many people wanted 256GB.

    Samsung sucks. My S7 edge battery is crap, Samsung store won't do anything abt it.
    Still running Android 7.0

    Anything with stock android is way better. Dynamic aperture is offset by bloatware and lag

      Samsung au sux, Samsung Hong Kong are really good, they don't care where you bought the handset, they will fix it without all the bullshit that comes with these Samsung au Muppets

    • Stock android is personally crap for me. I prefer Samsung Experience 8.5, my note 8 doesn't have the touch wiz lag and doesn't feel bloated. Featureless android is not for me. Each person experience will vary depending on their preferences.

  • I'm with virgin and went to a Virgin store today and told them about this deal and asked if they could do anything close to it for this price… they couldn't, so I walked over to the Optus store and transferred my service over! Unfortunately I couldn't take the phone then and there due to not being able to get the CID code on a Sunday or something but whatever, going back tomorrow after work to grab my device, so exciting! Thanks for posting this OP, was hoping a more desirable plan would come up that was more or less what I was paying with Virgin for my S7 and this worked out to be $4 cheaper and with more data and a shiny new S9+!

    • Yeah im kinda in the same boat. In November last year, I signed up for a 12 month $24 5gb a month plan with Virgin.

      Now im on the s6 edge and wouldnt mind upgrading because my battery is tanking on my phone.

      Virgin's offers for the S9 comes nowhere near this offer.

      Might call up on monday and ask how much it is to buy out my contract.

    • Have you successfully ported over yet? I went at lunch time today trying to port over from Virgin to Optus and I am still waiting for the porting to happen.

      • Hah, no!! My Virgin service stopped working at 11am yesterday so I popped in my Optus SIM and waited 2hrs… still no service. I contacted online support who said it could take up to 4hrs. 4hrs later I went to the Optus store to pick up the S9+ and informed them that my Optus service still isn't active, I was then told it could take another 3hrs (they called and checked with the technical team) so what more could I do?

        It's 8:30am the next day and I still have no service. I'm with online support as i type this and they're now telling me they've had a port-over OUTAGE since yesterday morning… then why was my Virgin service cut off????? It's unacceptable to think it would be okay for someone to be without 0 phone service in this day and age where no one has a land line and we rely on our mobile service/broadband. The tech just suggested I call Virgin and ask they re-activate my SIM… which is useless to me cause my Virgin SIM is at home and i'm at work.

        Really, really, really bad experience porting over so far.

  • Vodafone has matched the deal somewhat. $40 month to month global sim plan and $29/month for 24months for the s9 64gb.

  • Got mine at Harvey Norman. Went for s9+ Coral with free gift card (part of offer) and got them to throw in a mobile phone case.

      • Cant get any further discounts. I think it is a pretty good deal. With HN card thrown in, this is more like $70 a month… For a new phone that was launched recently, this is a super deal in my opinion..

        I was with optus on month to month post paid. Went to Harvey but they would not give me $100 eftpos card as the offer is for new services only. Dropped into Aldi this afternoon and ported out. Then went back to Harvey and they were happy to sign me up as a new customer and signed up.

        • @lovindeals: I was not on a contract, just post paid month to month. If you are on a contract then please ask your service provider for the cost of breaking it. If you are not on a contract then it wont cost you much.. just cost of buying a sim (i purchased Aldi mobile for $5)…

    The offer you are referring to the 25% discount on $40 was avalaible only for the $40 SIM ONLY PLAN.
    This was previous plan offer where the $40 plan gave only 15GB.
    Now that we have introduced the new plan with 30 Gb, The 25% discount was removed

    And also I would like to inform you. The Multiple service discount is applied only when you have a Home internet service along with Mobile.

  • Just spoke to livechat and asked if the phone is locked or unlocked and they said it’s locked to Optus which sucks or if wanna use another sim in it

    • I ordered one but haven't received the device yet. But according to Optus website all new Samsung PostPaid phones are not network locked Optus Unlocking Page. I think the live chat person might be wrong.

  • I am with vodafone, went to a shop and they matched the deal for $84/month for S9+ 256GB. With a free case, screen protector, but no EFTPOS voucher. Although they offered 25GB/month and 650 international minutes.

      • Yes, got the EFTPOS card with $74 plan for 64gb S9+.

        Accessory was a premium screen guard.

    • Own. The rep I went to explained to me at the beginning that she believed this plan is on a "lease" but I can pay $5 more a month to "own" it. So I proceeded anyway and when she brought up the plan, she was mistaken. It's definitely $74 and you own the device, there's no extra costs to own it.
