Got these for the kids. To make them work:

    1) 16Gb micro SDHC - $9.85 on eBay - the 8Gb just doesn't work
    2) Case and tempered glass protector - $11.99 on eBay - it's not that strong a phone
    3) Unlock so it works on Telstra MVNOs eg Aldi - $2.99 on eBay *
    4) Disable TouchPal, it's the source of the ads
    5) Ignore the OTA update, it does the full download of all your info to China

Great deal. I bought one last week from Coles for $69

    • These are now fully locked to Telstra - the Aldi SIM won't work unless you get an unlock code. Not sure about Boost…
    • "it does the full download of all your info to China" joke right?

      • +1

No joke. The update asked for 3 different sets of permissions - access contacts, camera, email, phone, calendar etc etc. Any reason this is needed?

        • +3

To re-write them after the update? Just guessing…

    • 4) Disable TouchPal, it's the source of the ads

OMG. Is that what that was? The ads were driving me bat-shit crazy! I disabled TouchPal because it kept crashing, but I guess I never noticed the ads also disappeared after that. Thanks for the tip!

    Better than an iPhone 6

I paid $20 for one and thought I got ripped off (don't ask… once off…)

    Great description, upvoted.

  • more pixels

    • That's exactly what Telstra needs. How fitting :D

  • +2

Cant argue with that one star rating

  • +2

Does it have a headphone jack?

    • +6

      That's it's best feature ;)

      • +1

The 3.5mm jack on mine (bought last year) sucks. It doesn't recognise AUX cables, but headphones are fine. Just really annoying if I want to plug it into a stereo. At this price though, probably worth the hassle as everything else is solid. I've dropped it heaps, and the screen and phone are fine.
Also, it accepts a 32gb card no sweat.

    Phone is fine?

Had this as a work phone. It's a piece of shit.

  • Anyone tried pokemon go on this?
Would like to get one but they are asking if this can play pokemon go.

    • From this website.
'The Telstra branded ZTE handsets are nothing to really get excited about but for the right price they could do for a nice little secondary Pokemon Go handset if you’re that way inclined.'

  • Sold out at my local BigW Campise, NSW.
