  • Is it cause you used an ‘O’ instead of a ‘0’ ?
    Works with p20tech code

    • Thanks updated. Silly mistake!

  • p20tech works for me as well.

  • Doesn't support VDSL :(

  • Very average modem. But since I inherited it, can't throw it out.

  • I'm trying to improve my GTA V online, would getting this help? I'm currently connected to WIFI on the free crappy TPG modem (Netcomm nb604n)….
At times I would lag so bad that I see other players doing this "teleport" type movements…

    Should I upgrade to this?

    thanks

    • From my experience, this has pretty okay modem with good ping. I get around 20ms. If your modem is causing the lag and bad ping, this might help you.

      • how do I know if it's the modem causing the lag? and how do i know if I what my ping is?

        • You can check your ping and speed here http://www.speedtest.net/
If you constantly get ping above 200ms that is very bad. It's really difficult to tell whether your internet provider has a problem or your modem has the problem. Only good way to check is by trying out with different modems.

        • @Dealshere: cool thanks mate, will try that when i get home! :)

        • download winmtr and let it run targetting the game server you're connecting too.

it should give you an idea of where any lag is coming from.

an high latency for the hop after you modem address eg 192.168.1 would indicate congestion between you and your ISP (as long as you're not running any big downloads when you're testing)

        • @Dealshere: Thanks OP - my results are below…i think that's good right? so maybe my modem is the problem?

          PING
          18
          ms

          DOWNLOAD
          7.90
          Mbps

          UPLOAD
          0.79
          Mbps

        • @sydboy007: thanks @sydboy but how do I find out the game server IP address?

        • @homersyd: Result looks good, I think you don't have a problem with both the modem and your internet provider. Its probably where the game server is. Most games have server overseas like in Europe and US which adds 200-400ms ping. Or you have some security software or some bad setting on pc that's causing major lag.

  • We have the Netgear N600 DGND3700V2
Would this be an improvement for wireless signal through the house?

Ours is getting on now and seem to be running hot (on 24/7!)
ADSL2+ at our place is usually crap, lucky to get 2.5's on a good day.

    • This modem router is rated for large homes, your current one is rated for medium to large homes. So, unfortunately, I don't think it will improve the signal by much. This doesn't run hot, but its unlikely to improve your internet speed. I have Netgear N150, AC1200, AC1900 but always get the same 5-6 Mbps on ADSL2+.

  • Does it work with NBN? has anyone tested the speed?

  • It's expired now :(
