eBay Australia 20% off ($50 Max Discount) First Purchase

1183

Got an email from ebay on an account that I made to get the free $10 credit but never arrived. I think the accounts that signed up for it should receive the discount, only downfall is $50 max discount. Screenshot - https://imgur.com/a/Gx01b

EDIT: Looks like the offer may still be running so check inboxes on new ebay accounts!

Had something similar around March of this year. Very targeted.

So are a lot of people (I am) yet we manage to type nicely

  • Doesn’t seem to be anyone other than the OP who has received this deal.

    Happy to be proven wrong.

    But until then “No Deal”

    • My DW created an ebay account, but never used it, she didn't get this offer

    • I take it all back I was stupidly wrong. I just received a 20% off code.

  • If anyone has received this as a coupon code and won't use it, pm me a fair offer for it.

Negging for all those unable to get the deal like myself as I'm never an ebay target

  • -1

    I received the code

    • Screen grab please?

If this is real I have to eat some crow.

      • -2

I created a new account on 14 Dec and received the code. Too lazy to upload a screenshot and also don't really care if anyone believes me or not.

        • Thanks for conforming, so deal is targeted to those who signed up within the last 3-4 weeks

  • Can confirm, didn't receive the deal

  • +2

If no one else can confirm that they have received this email I will take it down or mods can take it down, thanks for those not having a go at me for posting a deal cheers

  • OP can you provide the link to the T&Cs as shown in your email?

It would help the none believers among us to work out that we were wrong.

      • Thanks very much.

    • +1

Highly doubt op is trying to make fake deals. As others have already commented seems to be for stale accounts with zero purchases.

      • yeh not sure what I would gain from making 'fake deals' on ozbargain, although only myself and one other person has said they have received it so I can understand the down votes

        • Could you please include the code in your op?

    • +1

Nobody other than OP was targeted and he hasn't even provided a screenshot showing the deal

      • what do you need a screenshot of exactly?

    • +2

I can't be alone in thinking this post should be moved to forums until at least 1 other person confirms they got it too.

      • +2

This thread has over 7k clicks and only two codes, one which belongs to op. This takes targeted to a whole new level.

This is NOT a targeted deal, this is a deal for OP only.

Instead of removing negs, how about you actually moderate and take this non existent deal off the front page.

Or should I start making posts about my totally legit 110% off ebay "targeted" deal? It is exactly the same.

      • This is NOT a targeted deal, this is a deal for OP only.

We have left the deal intact to wait to see if anyone else other than the the 2 people here have received the offer. Per our targeted offers discussion and guidelines, we don't have a figure which designates it between No Deal and a targeted offer. My thought is if it doesn't meet the criteria of limited quantity being at least having 10, then it it's insufficient quantity to qualify for a deal.

As it is a public holiday, staff are spending much deserved time off so this will be discussed and actioned when possible. In the meantime, it would be great for you or anyone to share your feedback on our targeted offers thread. Discussions like these are how our community guidelines are created.

        Voting Guidelines

        You wrote:

        Pretty shitty deal.

which doesn't meet the voting guidelines.

Or should I start making posts about my totally legit 110% off ebay "targeted" deal? It is exactly the same.

I think you are suggesting this deal is made up which doesn't seem to be the case, it just seems to be targeted to a couple of people.

        • I didn't neg in the first comment, I only negged after seeing OP getting aggressive over criticism and many, many posts of people saying that they couldn't find a way to get the deal.

        • +3

I have received this deal.. So it's definitely targeted for new users.

        • @Matslurpee: \

lad you've been raging over this for too long, let it go

        • -2

@toblerone21: calling a spade a spade is raging in your book, that's disturbing.
feel free to have the last word, as you're obviously of that type.

        • We have discussed and decided that it does meet our quantity guidelines (min. 10) as while 3/4 people have received it here, it's likely that eBay have sent this out to way more people. It seems that the qualifications of this deal appear to be those who have opened an account in the past month (December) but have bought nothing. This is not likely to be most members at OzBargain and is possibly why we aren't seeing many people on OzBargain who have received the deal.

In terms of accusations of a fake deal, the OP has provided a screenshot. There was a targeted offer posted in November which had similar conditions with little indication that other OzBargain members had received the deal.

Based on the above, this post meets the standards for a deal. I suggest that if you want changes to targeted offers that you please make a comment in the targeted offers thread. Or just block targeted offers via the instructions above.

How do you put a image in a comment?

        • +1

@BrodenIt: Only mods can, maybe even just Neil and scotty. It's blocked for regular users.

          Okay

  • We've multiple user id just in case eBay sends out targeted codes. None of the user id received this code.

  • Op, could you please post the code in your post?

    • It's a unique code. At least that's what i had several months ago.

    • So that someone else can use it? no thanks

      • So that someone else can use it?

targeted codes are linked to the user id and not transferable.

  • Hope eBay will one day target those like myself that purchase consistently but that fact probably negates the need to target us in the first place I'm guessing…

  • +1

eBay cares only for new customers being the scumbags they are

    Bloody hell

  • Created a new account, keep you guys posted if anything appears with any new customer code discounts to my e-mail. So far, nothing. Only a 'welcome to eBay' e-mail.

    • +1

Looks like it was targeted for those who signed up between the 1st and 14th of December. Still useful to create a new account though, as you should receive the next targeted offer for new accounts

      • +1

Just a shame that companies, not just eBay, telco's do it as well, that they have offers for new customers only. For example, the 59.00 plan. People shouldn't need to 'dodge' the system to get the offer and there's no sign of loyalty for existing customers that spend so much, giving the company money which we pay

        • totally agree mate, someone who has spent over $1000s get 0 offers, yet someone that signed 3-4 weeks ago and spend nothing get the deals. Hopefully amazon will have a good rewards program and ebay should copy them

  • +3

nothing in my accounts, no need to get upset if you weren't targeted though

  • Crosses fingers and hope Im targeted …….

  • +1

I admit my snarking comments were wrong and OP was right.

I just received a 20% off code on an account I recently created.

    • +1

thanks for the reply, when did you receive it ? If it was recent I might remove the expiry of the deal , thanks

      • +1

        Today

  • +1

Got the email today, got excited for a bit but then remembered max discount is $50.

  • What is the point of this website when all negative votes get removed anyway…

    • -1

because the reason for the negative votes was invalid, can't really say something isn't a deal just because you weren't targeted. As posted in the description the offer was only valid for those who had created accounts new accounts, you may still receive the offer if you sign up with a new account
