eBay Australia 20% off ($50 Max Discount) First Purchase

1183

Got an email from ebay on an account that I made to get the free $10 credit but never arrived. I think the accounts that signed up for it should receive the discount, only downfall is $50 max discount. Screenshot - https://imgur.com/a/Gx01b

EDIT: Looks like the offer may still be running so check inboxes on new ebay accounts!

Happy in 2s when i read max was $50

    • -7

Hmmm… So this is only for people who never shopped on Ebay before …. I wonder if there are any such people on Ozbargain ? Yet, almost 90 upvotes. Interesting.

      • +1

Good deal is a good deal.

        • -4

Yes, but what good it is, if its not usable by majority ? A good deal is even better if majority is able to benefit from it, not just a few selected.

        • -1

@paul11: If that's expected of all deals from now on, OzB is screwed.

        • -2

@YogaPants: It's expected of majority of deals, that everyone can use/benefit from them, if not all. And majority of deals here benefit masses. Some deals are for a few selected people like this one.

        • -3

          @paul11: Pfft.
          Says who?

          Actually, who cares.
Thankfully any/all deals are shared, despite how many people might find use.

        • +6

@paul11: That is nonsense. Plenty have ineligibility baked in, it's literally why the 'targeted' tag exists.

        • +6

          @YogaPants:

exactly mate, not sure why people are having a go at me for posting a deal?! I posted it up so that others who had signed up in the past 1-2 weeks may receive the same code and be aware

        • -1

          @paul11:

Exactly, belongs on the forums instead.

      • +1

Create new account may help. Like last deals $10 off, i had 3 vouchers of 5 new accounts :D

        • -1

Yeah, that's what I was thinking …. But then how do you get the voucher code ? Its not an open code that anyone can use. Ebay already sent the codes to a few selected people.

        • Is it easy to create new (working) accounts ?
I would have thought they would have upped their security these days, I think paypal is really hard to make multiple accounts now, and I thought a new ebay account would require a linked and verified paypal account also for each 5 new ebay accounts .

  • +13

20% off good. $50 max bad.

Still, better than a kick to the pants from a blind mule on steroids with a bad hangover.

  • +7

I just want another 10 or 15% off sale! I thought the boxing day one was running until today and forgot to checkout!

    • +3

It was supposed to run till 23:59 yesterday (according to Casrewards) but ended much much earlier. Not sure, may be even one day earlier. It stuffed me up. I had something in my shopping cart and went to pay for it, but when I wanted to do so yesterday at about 1 pm, the code was no longer valid.

      • +8

CR was only guessing and kept extending the expiry by 24 hours each day. Nobody outside of eBay knew the exact expiry time.

      • Yep i tried it yesterday. šŸ˜¢

      • +1

Good for me that it was expired before i pressed checkout. Saved me 350$ for stuff i dont really need.

  • +12

In case you canā€™t maths, spend $250 šŸ˜ŗ

  • -1

Does ebay have any sitewide discounts coming up…like their 20% off etc… ?

Should we send someone back to the future to rescue him?

@giovannip: He probably screwed up and wrecked the space time continuum. WE'RE ALL DOOMED! We just don't know it yet. Meh, time for another drink.

        • +1

I think Deloreans can only go 89MPH!

        • @Quarn: here here…

<cough> actually they can go much higher, but you only need to get to my username…

I'm fading in and out already…

        • +2

          Great Scott!

        • @Quarn:
My eyes mistook your username as the holy book for a second…

      • Shouldn't you already know by now?

Unless something bad happened to you in the future… Oops.

    • +3

They never do 20% off site wide. Lately 10% is as much as they do, which they just had, wouldnā€™t expect another one too soon.

    • +2

Does ebay have any sitewide discounts coming upā€¦

20% on Jan 16th for selected sellers according to this guy
    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2670905#r55372728

    • Damn didnt read "selected sellers". That happens every other week now

      • Isnā€™t always the same ā€œselected sellersā€?

        • +5

Yup aka the "Price Jackers Club"

  • Made a new account just now, hopefully the email comes around. I used the same name as my other accounts, but different email. Hopefully that works.

35 minutes have passed and still no e-mail…

    • +1

let us know if you have any success

      • Well I guess It depends how you measure success

    • So are you gonna use the same old email for PayPal, or you've created another PayPal account just for the new eBay account? Or you won't be paying with PayPal in the new eBay account and just do direct debit etc?

      • Haven't gotten to that stage yet. But it has been 3 hours yet and still no e-mail.

      • Need to use paypal to use the ebay codes normally right?

I've got my one paypal account linked to my 5 or 6 or 8 ebay accounts. I've never had any issues.

You are allowed to have more than one ebay account right?

        • Don't really know. I had one eBay account many years ago, but wasn't a crazy online shopper back then so I haven't used it for ages and even forgot the password. Created my current one back in 2015, so I always assumed you can only use one account each for the same email account. Will create another eBay account for these targeted offers and hope for the best.

  • How can I get these Targeted emails from EBay?

I have an account with them for ages, do quite a few shopping but never got one of these emails.

    • +3

I'm pretty sure it is targeted for new sign ups. I never get anything targeted on my main account

      • +5

"I buy from ebay all the time, why don't I get targeted offers?"

        They already got yo ass.

      • I Just signed up 2 days ago, but no email offer yet.

    • +1

Sometimes if you havenā€™t bought anything in awhile you get an encouragement to do so.

I donā€™t think eBay has ever rewarded anyone for loyalty.

  • +1

3 eBay accounts, have never received a targeted offer.

    • Same here but only have one, actively buy and sell though. Can't see why I'm missing out :(

      • These offers are for people who don't make ebay some money. You already do, so they have no need to entice you.

        • Only one of the accounts has been used to buy and sell, the other two havenā€™t done squat.

  • -4

Quick mafs, basic y don't buy more than 250$

  • Neither I nor my wife have ever had one of these emails either.
I suppose it's too late to create a new account to benefit?

    • +1

Neither my wife or I have ever received such an offer.

      • I married a teacher. I feel your pain.

      • +4

If youā€™re going to correct a sentenceā€™s structure, be sure to keep it grammatically correct - either pairs with or, neither pairs with nor. Your corrected sentence should read:

Neither my wife nor I have ever received such an offer.

        • que sera sera just leave it alone

  • +1

I never receive any of these emails. Maybe I should stop us My eBay then. Thatā€™ll show em!

    • +3

I enabled all the email options specifically because I didn't get any discount emails at all

now all I get is "items you have missed" or "popular ebay items this week" crap

      still no damn codes

  • +2

TARGETED Alright!! Only toblerone21 got it! lol

    • +1

Yeah, has anyone else actually gotten it?

    • +1

Gonna sign up as [email protected] and report back lol

  • +10

4000 clicks, 73 up votes, OP is the only person to so far confirm they received the offer. Is this a deal? Even with the eBay targeted offers, thereā€™s usually someone in the first few comments saying they received it too.

    • +6

Welcome to OzBargainville, where madness is the norm.

    • +4

I would like to think the people up voting have actually been targeted, if not then that's disappointing.

      • +6

Nothing against you, OP. But not a single other member has said that theyā€™ve received this offer.

      • If it were the case, the targeted would make up less than 2%

    • +1

Where do you think the clicks from every deal comes from? Guests.

      • -1

Thanks for pointing out something that Iā€™m aware of,

        • I'm glad someone else realises it. Can't expect every clicker to comment.

        • -1

@Clear: Not every clicker can comment. Ok, again, thanks for pointing out something obvious.

        • +2

@aja12: You're welcome grumpy bum. Happy new year!

        • +1

@Clear: Happy New Years to you too.

      • Why should guests even have access…

        • Literally drives the site. They get delivered affiliate links which pays the bills and staff etc. to keep the site running. My unpopular opinion is that negging rights should be given to people who have posted at least once.

        • @Clear:
Fair enough but they also take all the bargains from people who contribute too.

  • +3

    DIDNTGETSHIT working as always šŸ˜€

  • +4

i think most people are missing the 'first purchase' indicated in the attached image..

  • So uh, what are you guys doin' for new years eve then?… XD

  • -2

Can anyone other than OP confirm that they are targeted?

Also, OP there's no need to look at my profile thanks.

    • -8

You have 3 deals posted so you can have any opinion you like on the deal :), I'm also interested how many people were targeted, thanks

      • +6

The number of deals a user posts doesn't negate their opinion. The number of people getting the deal is 1 because it is just for you. The people upvoting are those who want the 20% discount not because they got it.

Also fix your title, it is for first purchase as it says in the email title.

        • why the chip on your shoulder mate? I didn't ask for people to up vote the deal blindly? Also the reason I don't like people posting things like 'shit deal' is that it is not constructive at all, especially from someone with 0 posted deals, happy new year

        • +1

@toblerone21: No deal > invalid deal

        • +1

          @gorillainwild:

And who said is wasn't a deal? other people have surely been targeted too (considering the up votes) and it seems those who haven't been targeted are getting really angry about. The whole point in me posting the deal was to make people aware that they may receive this as a targeted email, cheers

        • @toblerone21: No one confirmed they were targeted. Number of upvotes simply means they think it is a good deal, but this deal is invalid since it is only for you.

        • +1

@gorillainwild: If it's invalid you report it. This isn't what a neg is used for.

        • +1

@Clear: And under what reason would that be? It is already tagged as targeted so no point reporting it as targeted again.

        • +1

@gorillainwild: No point negging it either. It's clearly targetted. So no vote for it not being applied to you.

        • +2

@Clear: So it's okay to spam invalid deals but say it's targeted?

        • @gorillainwild: That's why we have the report function for mods. If no one else is getting it then they can remove it.
