It's worth noting that these are seller refurbished and only come with a 90-day warranty. Buyer beware: be sure to stress test your unit or consider a manufacturer refurbished with a longer (usually 1-year) warranty.

    • +1

      My bad, just updated title.

      • +3

Tell that to the QA teams when they ship to retail.

People looking for a cheap gaming PC wouldn't want it cooking 3 hours into their first AAA game experience on it. A seller refurb may have replaced parts, or it might just have the parts themselves refurbished; it varies, and is worthy of a phone call to ask.

    • +11

I've spot checked a few serial numbers, these units have the balance of there 3 Year Onsite warranty remaining. It expires May 2019. That's a solid bonus.

      • Could you check another model for me if I private message you?

        • Sure :)

  • +1

Regarding the $48 PC you linked to - bear in mind this comes with Vista. This OS stopped being supported by Microsoft 4 months ago. I would recommend that nobody buy it unless you have another OS you plan on installing.

    • Just obtain a windows 10 key off ebay for like $4

      • Hi, could you kindly link me to the $4 win 10 key plz?

        • Search eBay

      • +4

May as well pirate it for free if you are going to do that. A $4 key won't be legal.

        • -2

Could use reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap iirc they're all legit.

        • @enceladus94: They are volume license / msdn keys so aren't intended for resale or consumer use. They are only legal for use within the organisation that has licensed them.

Save your money and use a KMS emulator if you are going to use illegal keys.

    • +5

It's $68 including postage. OS is actually not the biggest issue. It looks like that PC only has USB 2.0 port. Dunno about you, but most of my portable hard drives are USB 3.0.

They do have some good deals. I am just not a fan of refurbished items - had a lot of bad experience.

      • Postage is $1 for me

        • AU $29.97 Standard Shipping

        • @Steptoe: Weird showing $1 postage for me. Does it say $29.97 postage in the listing?

        • +1

          @BrodenIt:

          What postcode gives $1?

          4000 shows $29.97

        • +1

@Steptoe: nm once i type in my postcode it goes up to 29.97.

      • -1

        Bruh 3.0 works in 2.0

        • +2

Yes, backward compatible but just won't have the fast transfer speeds

  • Can you place a GPU in these with ease?

    • You will need to upgrade the power supply if yo7 are getting a gaming GPU. For use as a HTPC with a low power GPU you would probably be fine.

      • I suspected that might be the case. Cheers.

  • +1

Says in here the SFF models are limited to 35watts and low profile so a GT 1030 would be the best choice but if you search around youll find people getting 75watt cards working to some extent with watt limitations like this. Id play it safe myself but that is a possibility

    • My bad, probably was a gt 730 i will double check tomorrow.

    • Yup, has a low profile gt 730. Sorry for the confusion.

  • How would this compare to the current NUC for a media centre?

    • +1

No hdmi so you'll need a graphics card but even with that itll still be a decent bit cheaper and faster than a i5 NUC geared up the same

      • +3

        It has a display port.
Can you not use an adapter on DP to convert to hdmi? I'm sure I'm missing some intricacy.

        • +2

          That will work perfectly.

        • @jamesvdm: I presume built in gpu will struggle with 4k

        • @Sammyboy: Should be fine actually.

    • +1

      It will be louder.

      • And bigger and hotter and everything else

      • The fans are so silent you won't even hear them.

    • Also the NUC will be smaller so will fit nicely next to or behind the TV. The HP is kinda bulky.

    • +1

Current intel chips have HDMI2 for better 4K video, but I believe issues with some HTPC software.
Probably good with Windows, if thats what you want.

i5 6500 is way over-powered on the CPU side, but under-powered on the GPU side for 4K.

  • Is this good for low end video editing? I mean for software like videoscribe?

    • +1

This PC will do anything the intel HD530 is a really good GPU compared to OLD intel IGP's .. i think the DDR4 really gave the built in GPU's a massive boost in performance.. i play league of legends at 90FPS maxed out settings on my HD530.. apps run with ease. 8GB's is allot of ram and can be upgraded to 16 easy.. add an SSD for cheap and you have a great product

I'm using a i3 6100u 35w CPU with HD530 . using my RX470 gives me more FPS so i can run my 144hz monitor but doubles my PC's power usage

  • +2

We use these at my work and they've been reliable. They're pretty quiet and have a small footprint. We did have a batch with faulty power buttons, but HP sent new replacement buttons and DIY replacing them was easy.

  • +1

Just bought a similarly spec'd one for $900 last week (work purchase so no regrets, just FYI).

  • -1

Beware of this seller. I bought this item and turned out ok. But then I bought a refurbished Apple 2013 iMAC and it was a horrible experience. They sent me a 2007 wired mouse and keyboard and argued it's still an Apple mouse and keyboard while the standard iMAC had wireless mouse and keyboard. The item was also damaged and not cleaned.

    • +3

Hi, If you would like to PM me some details I can have this followed up for you. Just to clarify as well. We handle the disposal of government, education and big business IT assets. We have disposed of 1000's of iMac over the years and we have never had Wireless Keyboards and Mouse supplied.

When EDU ordering or bulk through apple equipment, they can be supplied with the standard Wired Keyboards and Mice. (Same goes with Dell, HP, Lenovo ect. AIO's)

Dealing with constant flat eneloops, would be an IT managers nightmare.

I hope this clears this up for you.

      • +9

But when you list an item as refurbished iMAC 2013 with mouse and keyboard and don't include any photos of the keyboard/mouse the assumption is that you are sending the standard accessories and not the much cheaper models from 2007. Then arguing that it's still an Apple made mouse and keyboard, or organisations buy wired accessories isn't justified. You can either appropriately describe your items or compensate for the price difference.

Then again I bought the HP PC and it was ok. So I am not saying all your items are bad.

P.S: when I asked for invoice for HP PC, your staff said first remove the eBay negative feedback on iMAC! I thought that's blackmail.

  • Anybody know if you could fit one of these in?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gigabyte-nVidia-GeForce-GTX-1050-…

Not looking to game but want a workstation for photoshop and digital painting, never play games so no real clue when it comes to video cards.

    • +1

Should be fine… I bought the same PC model but older processor was in it (I5, 4570 I think).

I got a New SSD, Gigabyte 1050ti low profile, Intel 8265 wireless card installed and it's been great… still had manufacturer warranty too which was a bonus :)

      • +1

Thank you very much, got an SSD already and I'll probably be maxing the ram too.

I think I got that same model 4570 as you last time from these guys to run as a server. No problems at all.

        • +2

I downloaded the HP Support assistant and got the latest bios updates, etc straight from HP as the first task.

Next was a stress test which it passed with ease then a Windows 10 "refresh" to start off with a clean slate.

Downloaded the user manual that provided info on opening up the box/case and installing all the bits and bobs.

Easy case to work with and ssd was easy to install with the fancy hinged bracket thing… WiFi card was also easy… 1050ti didn't get recognised as new hardware until after a few reboots - I thought I'd frked it up or the card was a dud but it eventually worked, not sure what was going on but huge sigh of relief when it all clicked into place!

Nice quiet machine so far with no problems - well worth the punt :)

OP, in relation to your comment "If you're not going to game that much i strongly suggest you to wait next week for the Dell 9010 to be back in stock." which one are you referring to? I tried looking but wasnt sure. Would you mind sharing a link? Thanks

    • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/323968 Current link takes you to the usff model. The sff model will be back in stock next week. I will post a deal once back in stock

      • I do not think we are going to be able to get the 9010 i5 stock off hold in time before this promo ends. If there is anyone holding out, I would suggest that these 800 G2's are the best bang for buck option we can do.

  • +1

Is this the right product page?
    http://www8.hp.com/au/en/products/desktops/product-detail.ht…
It has no DVI or HDMI port so you might need a converter if your monitor has no vgi or display ports. And looks like all the expansion slots are for low-profiles
    1 low-profile PCIe x16
    1 low-profile PCIe x4 (x16)
    2 low-profile PCIe x1

How much does it cost to upgrade RAM to 16GB? (if it's possible)

  • does this have wifi to connect to a wireless network?

    • +1

We get this issue a bit.

Pretty much every desktop computer does not have built in Wifi. (excluding AIO's and consumer grade models)

You'll only find Wifi as standard in Mobile devices such as Laptops, Mobile phones, Tabets ect.

We have in our listings the option to add a TP Link Wireless USB adapter for $25, this is to make it a little easier if required.

    • Yes, it doesn't have wifi but you can get a cheaper wifi adapter here: http://www.gearbest.com/network-cards/pp_627896.html. There will even be some cheaper generic ones on Ebay.

  • This is a bit much for such an old cpu right?

  • @Calmago:

Can you tell me what configuration the ram comes in? IE/ A single 8gb or 2 x 4gb?
Looking to photoshop and want to bump the ram up possibly all the way and add a GPU, just pricing up and comparing against building new.

And while you are here I got a cheap Optiplex 780 from you guys in one of the last ebay sales and I'm password locked out of the bios and it needs a keyboard plugged in to boot (I think due to case having been opened warning), any workarounds for this? I want to run it headless.

    • +1

      Hi

These have a single 8Gb card.

Sorry to hear that the 780 has a BIOS lock. It's an easy fix though. There's a jumper on the motherboard to remove the Password.

This guide should be able to help you out

      http://www.tech-faq.com/reset-dell-bios-password.html

Worst case, you can remove the CMOS battery and leave it unplugged for a bit. If you do, you'll need to check the BIO's settings. If so please check that the SATA operation is set to AHCI, as the default is RAID.

      • +2

Fantastic, thank you so much. Was so cheap that I wasn't fussed on chasing it up right away and forgot until now!

I'll place my order later today, feel free to let me know if you sell any 1050ti low profile cards or similar and I'll grab one of those too. Also ram if you have another 3 8Gb's lying around.

Thanks again, I think this will be the 5th PC I've ordered from you guys.

        • +2

          Hi

Thanks for you're repeat business :)

Glad to be happy to help.

We don't stock parts and accessories, however you should be able to pick up those extras pretty cheap on eBay.

  • Anyone found compatible ram for these - I'm getting DNS errors trying to download the user manuals for the last few days and searching DDR4-2133 SDRAM from the spec sheet isn't finding me much.
