Asus one isnt carbon fibre reinforced though..
I have a UX303, it seems to be an aluminium unibody, until you open it up and see it's aluminium covered fantastic plastic.
I guess you can't escape from plastic if you want it to be both light and cheap. The question is, do you need carbon fibre?
I'm in the market for a 13-14", 16gb RAM, 512gb SSD laptop myself. So far nothing seems to beat the ASUS for value…
The keyboard was important for me
carbon fibee vs aluminium lined plastic imo
How does this compare with XPS 13?
XPS is better. You can usually find it for $1439 on 20% off sales with same specs.
Being 13" and with Infinite Edge display, it has a smaller body, and is cheaper than this. Tech support is better. It has a more premium feel than this.
Damn good deal and damn nice laptop
Ram no upgradeable, not good for Chrome.
That link is unlikely to work.
Also, can confirm cashrewards worked on this one.
What do you mean by “link unlikely to work”
@Jimmy007:
Just noticed it was you who posted that deal!!!👍
I saw atleast one person had difficulty checking out through that link. But glad you managed to get it.
Also AMEX offer is closed for sign up. They have exhausted enrolments and I missed out on it.
Good experience with these guys so far.. Already at Woolworths to pick up his morning.
I have a fully spec'ed out X1 Carbon G5. Get a Macbook instead, the trackpad is unbearable, and scrolling performance is both subpar and inconsistent between apps. Fans spin up and down all the time even when simply posting on OZB. Speakers are garbage without Dolby enabled, which means you're shit out of luck if you want to use Linux instead. Performance is so-so because of the crappy heat dissipation and throttling. Battery drains completely overnight because of sleep bugs. I paid nearly $3K, wouldn't pay a fraction of that knowing what I know now.
Had the trackpad and mobo replaced, so I can't help but think this is subpar by design. I have no idea if this is par for the course for Windows laptops, I've only had Macbooks for the last few years. I was hoping ThinkPad quality had moved on from when I last used (and enjoyed) them, but it's just not what I expect from a machine built in 2017.
You can get the ASUS for cheaper?
