Loads of handhelds coming out but this unit still rates as one of the best.
Was looking and thinking of upgrading from my Rog Ally Z1 extreme to this.
Surcharges: 0% direct deposit, 0.8% card, 1% PayPal, 2.2% Zip & Latitude.

More storage, ram and twice the battery size was my mates reasoning
It's a pretty shallow upgrade is the point
Agreed, I changed the internal drive and upgraded the battery myself for a much cheaper price point
@whitepuma: You can get another backplate like this and save your OEM one: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CRKSGN9P/?coliid=I18DTYZB8OBI…
@kamykazi: JSAUX also make a 65ish Wh battery upgrade kit for the Rog Ally. Not sure if available here yet though.
@whitepuma: There's some plastic on the backplate that needs to be removed to get space for bigger battery. Or like the other person suggested you could buy a different back plate that fits.
@ntb: Yeah nice, if I had to go about this id probably go down the route of replacing the back plate.
I dunno just don't like the idea of cutting into it.
@safwanc: I went with JSAUX, new backplate so no cutting required. AliExpress was tempting, but the piece of mind of not screwing my case was worth it!

It's a minor upgrade at best and definitely not worth the RRP difference.
If can be done at a few hundred, then it's a situation I at least was giving a second though to.
Just price match mwave's price and then pay with discounted gift cards at JB and get it brand new for not much more money.
Jb price match refurbished???
No, they won't, but they will price match the new ones at Mwave for $1499, and if you've got discount gift cards, you can pay that $1499 for upward of 10% off meaning more like $1350 ie. $150 more for brand new with warranty vs used and questionable warranty coverage.
I might be out of the loop.. but how does one get these discounted gift cards?
Coles and Woolies do them every month or so. Bit of a pain because you are limited to what they have in store at that time and it's max 5x cards per transaction. Worth it for the savings though.
Personally if you are regularly frustrated by the battery life of your Ally, I'd just buy a decent battery bank…
Then save the rest of my money for a couple of years when genuine upgrade options might be available.
…but its your money!
Refurb at this price. Wow
how were you "upgrading"? This still has AMD Ryzen™ Z1 Extreme processor.
