Quite expensive as a HTPC. Doesn't really seem up for the job.

"In terms of media playback via KODI, the on-board Celeron J3160 processor didn’t quite live up to our hopes. We’re specifically referring to 3D ISO and MVC playback, here, as other extremely similar hardware we’ve reviewed has been up to the job. Still, the V1 is pretty competent with playback of 8-bit HEVC Ultra HD video at up to 30 frames per second and fully working dynamic refresh rate switching. The Vorke V1 also deinterlaces video very well and can pass through 5.1 DTS and Dolby Digital but it’s not HD audio capable, if that’s a concern for you. All in all, it’s solid enough as a media player/streamer but given the fact you can get better devices for the purpose, for less outlay, the Vorke V1 just misses out on an award. "

This is VORKE V1 "Plus". A different specs' model and price in 2017.

    • You are looking at the wrong model.

  • With a passmark of 2133 it just scrapes into the recommended requirements for a plex server.
    It should be able to transcode 1 x 1080P or 2 x 720P no issues, a bit better that a Pi3

Will this handle simple office tasks like excel and word processing + web browsing?

  • Does anyone know if this would work 'out of the box' with Openelec or Libreelec? Have a HTPC currently running Windows 10 and over it, majority of my remote buttons don't work so need to map them all which is a pain (remote worked fine with windows 7) and a bit over having pop ups and updates and all the other crap that comes with Windows 10 (don't mind it all as a gaming PC hooked up to TV though).

Or would I just be better off grabbing another Nvidia Shield TV?

    • I was in the same situation and just installed libreelec on the same (x86) box using a usb drive to launch from so no risk and if you want to go back and use windows just pull out the usb. Works much better much more stable and no windows crap (updates, etc)

      • Yeah Windows 7 had its quirks with Kodi, but nowhere near as bad as Windows 10. The current remote I have where half the buttons don't work is what threw me over the edge and wanting to keep my current PC just as a lounge gaming PC and everything media related as a separate device. Still not sure whether to get this or just wait till the Shield TV is back on sale again, but that'll be about another $100 more.

  • would this be able to handle 4k video?
