Has anyone received theirs yet who ordered via eBay who has not received a sent/shipping confirmation? (or a cancellation either for that matter)

  • +1

Another person in limbo here. I was in the last batch of eBay orders on the 24th, around 9:40PM, so am not expecting anything good.

Not helping at all, there were at least two people before me who ordered 10 units each….

  • got mine just now. Unsealed, with a postage label stuck onto it, like many others.
this is some radio, amazing device!
selling my Panasonic RF-D10GN now, because it belongs in some fancy lounge heh heh

    • +2

I agree surpassed my expectations, quality is great and well built too!

      • +6

Go on rub salt in the wound 😢

    • Hi mate,

Missed out on the sangean but was thinking about picking up a Panasonic RF-D10GN.

What did you think of it?

  • +10

    Dick has done it again!

Due to overwhelming demand, we are unable to supply your Dick Smith - DAB+/FM/AM Portable Receiver as originally expected.

Negative ebay feedback here I go!

    • +6

No $10 credit has been offered from the email either. Seems that eBay buyers will hammer them with negative feedback now.

      • +6

        They deserve negative feedback.
Even just sending a good radio out to the spastics at Australia Post without an outer box deserves negative feedback. Hopeless communication, hopeless stock control, hopeless packaging

        • Australia post called me up saying that the only address they received was "98"
They called me for the street and suburb

  • +2

Arghhh just got the cancellation email. One week later - pathetic. Ordered via Ebay.

  • +3

They've cancelled my order. Arseholes. I was really looking forward to this.

  • same…

  • +2

I bought from ebay sale 133 of 544 just received notice out of stock … they better get ready for major negative review
    FALSE ADVERTISING

  • +3

My order just got cancelled too
No offer of $10 credit like others got.
Why did some people get credit and not others?
Another negative comment comment comming up on ebay

  • +4

Cancelled!!! Right, negative feedback FU Kogan

  • Same here. I wonder how they choose who gets one or not. Perhaps alphabetically based on surname???? If so, I'm changing mine.
Or maybe whoever has the cheapest postage for them.

  • +3

Seven negative comments already on Ebay about the radios non-delivery.
Keep those negative comments coming and perhaps they will offer better service in the future.

  • Got the fail email. Rubbish service :((

    Dear Customer
Due to our inability to count stock, we have had your money tied up for over a week & only just now got to telling you that your order will not be completed. Ooops, sorry about that! Chances are some of our employees have cancelled your order and bought some for their friends and family instead.

    Kind Regards,
The Bogans at Kogan (who bought Dick Smith's trading name and customer databases after they got sodomised by Anchorage Capital)

  • Same old garbage ….

  • Ditto - cancelled :(

  • +2

Looking forward to reading the negative reviews on eBay guys, let's stick it to em!

    Viva la Ozbargain!!

    • +3

They are 98.1% positive as I write this. With some proper care and attention, they will sink below 98 to the all-important 97 range and beyond.

      • +3

Dick not looking so firm anymore. Down to 97.4%. Dick now droopy :(

  • Mine was also cancelled. Ebay order 7:34pm. Poor form. Negative feedback left.

  • Ah crap, this was going to be a birthday present for the stepfather, bugger.

  • Damnmit also just received the dreaded refund email. Was really looking forward to it as i'm actually using a cheap kmart radio with tiny speakers for work. Wouldve paid $50 for it

  • Please remember to revoke any + you may have given this deal if you got Dicked. "votes" tab up the top > Revoke (no offense OP)

  • +4

Ebay order also cancelled, after 7 days. How can Ebay allow this? If I was to push the purchase button and then not go through with the sale, Ebay would be straight onto me. And I have to wait another 3 days for refund! Surely you can not offer something for sale when you have no stock. Where is the ACCC when you need them?

    • Where is the ACCC when you need them?

      sidenote:
The ACCC sold you out decades ago. Which is why Coles & Woolworths were allowed to get away with murder for decades: crimes that are only now labelled 'anti-competitive'. Looking forward to their next 'scam' book, but not the one that tells you how much every taxpayer pays to keep those crooked bribe-taking paper-shufflers in jobs. No no, that scam is under wraps. Like most government departments, they perform just enough 'visible' work (usually aimed at the low-hanging fruit…ie. small businesses) in order to appear they are on your side. Just like the gov themselves, they are paid for and bought by the biggest corporate interests. Therefore, it is these biggest 'sponsors' who they represent. While pretending to care. On your tax dollar.

  • I love looking at the reviews on their eBay account. Its all the same product.

  • Negative feedback posted. Pathetic service!

  • +1

I have no idea why I thought I was ever going to get this radio…

7 days later to send an email?

  • +2

DickBogan (BoganDick) is now at 97.9% positive feedback on ebay (from 98.1% earlier). Lots of angry ozbargainers have brought it down into the 97 percent mark. Brings a tear to my eye, it does. The comments are tonight's entertainment.

    Haha.

    • +2

Goal set at 96% now lol

The eBay Selling Practices guide states that actions the seller should perform include:
    * Frequently reviewing and updating listings to make sure all information – such as inventory status and item condition – is accurate and up to date.

There's also a Seller Performance Standard, which says that a seller must not have more than 2% of transactions with a transaction defect over the most recent evaluation period.

    A transaction defect includes:
    * Seller-initiated transaction cancellation (i.e. a transaction cancelled by the seller when the item was out of stock, or sold to another buyer)

I wonder how they measure up against these two things….

    • +1

It's just a guide. The RULES for sellers is the one that counts.

      • Yep, and the seller rules includes meeting the minimum performance standard. That means not having too many 'defective' transactions, which includes out of stock ones.

  • +1

Did any of those who bought off the Kogan website after it was sold out on eBay get their orders?

  • -3

Guys, will suggest you to report this to ebay via email/call. As we waited for more than 1 week and then kogan realised that they dont have enough stock. They should have known about this while placing the order itself.

  • +5

Alright who's cashing in on eBay here

    • +5

found that it was too large for my liking

Much like their nose which appears to be growing larger by the minute

$126 vs $143 from Ryda (with the C20TEK code)…I think I know which one I'd be buying.

  • I bought from the eBay store and received it today.

  • +6

Just got a $10 Dick Smith voucher for my failed Ebay purchase

    • Me too, I wonder if they initially forgot to send $10 voucher.

  • Sorry to be THAT guy but…

If anyone bought two and is willing to sell one one, please private message me.
    I really wanted this radio..

  • If anyone is selling one in Brisbane I would be keen too.

  • +4

    I just got a $10 voucher too.
There was no mention of a voucher in the email saying my order was cancelled after 1 week.
i wonder if it was all the negs on ebay that prompted the $10 voucher?
I doubt I will ever use the voucher after this debacle.
I hope Amazon will have better service when it opens here.

  • RECEIVED REFUND TODAY - 2nd May,
DAMN YOU DICK SMITH & KOGAN!

    You have SCREWED ME AGAIN!

  • -1

Got the full refund of $30.02 so we got to the keep the $1.50 for using C5AUS :)

    • +1

sadly no you don't get to keep your dollar fifty… I had a look on my paypal account and the c5aus was taken out just that little kick in the ass to keep you yelling Curse you KOGAN and Dick

      • I used a $10 eBay voucher just to make it that little bit more annoying. (probably too hard to reclaim)
        Stupid Kogan/Dick Smith

        • I noticed the prices on many items i was watching have gone up much more than the $10 voucher. It is probably Kogan's way of saying screw you again.

  • Got a $10 voucher too and $1.50 for my efforts.

Got nothing to buy from Dick Shit. Any suggestions?

  • RECEIVED REFUND TODAY - 2nd May

  • +1

I received my radio. The box (no bubble wrap) was covered in sticky shit, but the radio was otherwise unscathed and the sound is great. Sorry everyone who missed out!

  • +3

Bought 2 (one for me and one for my mother) on eBay 24/04/17 at 8:32pm. Email 02/05/17 3:46pm: "Dick Smith has just sent you a full refund of $60.04 AUD for your purchase." No other information or a reason why (obviously it's the stock screw up, but it would be nice if they actually told you that in a message). No sign of a $10 voucher either.

My mate ordered one on their website 14 minutes after me and his arrived today. Not good enough Dick. Synchronise your stock levels and fill the orders in the order in which they were placed - it's not rocket science.

Neg feedback and a message requesting an explanation of why they have refunded my money is next.

    • -1

To be fair to Dick, I received a reply from them on eBay saying I did receive an email explaining the stock problem and a $10 voucher. Went searching my spam folder and found them from May 1 (gee I wonder why a Kogan email would go to spam - could it be they constantly spam you?) I still gave them a serve about filling orders in the order in which they were placed - made me feel like I'm sticking it to the man, but we all know the man ultimately sticks it to us. Oh well.

  • +2

Got the email on Monday night and the refund today along with a $10 voucher this afternoon. Pretty poor considering I was an early purchaser and others who ordered after me had their orders shipped.

Online retailing in this country is utterly pathetic and I'm finding more and more problems with online transactions but only from Australia. Amazon has been great, sorted out any problems promptly and always make you feel like they actually care whereas Australian retailers just piss you off and make you jump through hoops.

  • +1

Quick review: sound is fine, decent mono quality sound from the speaker. Actually I think it flatters the quality of the highly compressed DAB channels. I have listened to DAB on higher end speakers and a lot of it sounds like overcompressed crap, but this little cheap and cheerful mono speaker is perfect for the job of reproducing that crappy DAB sound. The bass and treble controls are a very nice touch. Headphone out quality is very mediocre, maybe a bit worse than a low end Realtek, I'm guessing sub-90dB SNR? But you know, it's 30 bux. Now some cons…

    1. Having the backlight brightness set to anything except off or max causes audible feedback buzz/whine to the speaker. I've seen this type of thing before even on high end laptops; as you dim the backlight, whatever PWM dimming scheme it's using causes RF noise or modulates the voltage in some way that interferes with the speaker signal. So those intermediate backlight settings are useless to me. The headphone out is not affected by this though.

    2. The main selection dial is a notch-type, but doesn't function as such. One notch on it equates to about 1.1415926535 notches. Which means one in every few notches gives you two notches, and then you have to go back finding where you were in whatever list you were scrolling through. Sometimes it glitches too and skips over many and you get lost in that list.

    3. The display panel is a step down from traditional large clock radio type displays. It's not very visible and illuminates a dark room too much at a readable backlight setting. Thankfully you can turn it off and then it automatically turns on to the dimmest setting when a control is pressed (again causing that speaker feedback buzz, but only for 5 seconds before it automatically dims off). So if you want to see what the time is when lying in bed in a dark room for example you can do that without too much hassle.

    4. The rear barrel plug pokes out too far for my cable management OCD. I'll probably replace it with a right-angle one and have it running flush along the back of the unit.

    Thanks for reading.

    • The tuning knob is giving me a lot of pain. You try and press it down to select, and it moves one or two notches before it registers you've pressed it down, unless you've got your other hand to steady the radio. So you try and get 2DAY, and end up with 2GB. Or you try and change the time setting, but it goes into setting an alarm instead. Really annoying!

      • Yep I know exactly what you're talking about. I will probably end up using the 15-20 preset memory slots to put my favourite channels into and use those buttons to change the channel instead.

  • +1

Woo hoo! I got mine, it's much bigger than I thought it would be. Thanks OB.

  • Got mine today. Great build quality. It is much bigger than the $29 el cheapo nasty Kmart DAB radio that I am replacing. Better reception compared to the Kmart Audiosonic radio as well. Really happy with it. Thank you for posting the deal. Just wish it had a remote as well haha but thats me being greedy lol.

  • I finally collected mine from the post office today.
Shipping label on the actual retail box. Bravo!
    Shitty packaging, great radio.
Sorry to everyone that got dicked around though.

  • they just sent it in the original box with the address on it!

anyway… i'm not hugely impressed with the sound but i suppose its more for voice

HOWEVer, the thing slams when using the 3.5 headphones out to my stereo system, DAB really is good even though I guess the DACs arent super

i'm using eneloops in the D shell casing, i expect them to last forever if you're using line out

    • I used D batteries with this thing, and it lasted about 48 hours on a fairly low volume. Those Eneloops have about a quarter of the capacity of actual D cells, so probably expect about 12-20 hours using line out.

    • predictable I suppose…

Meanwhile, if any OzBargainers have a spare please message me.
I would love to buy it and of course pay all the extra shipping etc.
