Qantas Club Joining Fee Waived with ANZ Frequent Flyer Black ($425 Annual Fee)

120

I could be completely mistaken but it sounds like ANZ and Qantas are offering to fee waive the first year of Qantas club.

Couldn't find it in ozbargain so hopefully not dupe.

Qantas club membership has a Membership Fee and a Joining Fee. For 1 year is it $510+$385. What ANZ seems to be waiving is the joining fee i.e. $385 and also giving a $90 discount on the membership fee. You will still have to pay $425. This can be claimed in tax if you travel for business purpose frequently.

  1. Offers are only available to ANZ Frequent Flyer Black cardholders who are Australian residents and who purchase Qantas Club membership using their ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card. Offers are non-transferable and are not available in conjunction with any other offers or discounts. No discounts are available in respect of fees already paid. $475 saving in the first year is based upon a joining fee waiver and a discount to the standard one-year individual membership rate. The joining fee waiver is for a new one year individual Qantas Club membership purchased using an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card by contacting the Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre on 13 11 31. Quoted joining fee savings are based on the joining fee for an individual Qantas Club membership application by an Australian resident. Different rates may be available for those with access to the Qantas Club Corporate scheme. The membership fee offer is for a one year individual Qantas Club membership which is purchased or renewed using an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card by contacting the Qantas Service Centre. Quoted membership fee savings are based on the difference between the published corporate membership rate and the fee applicable to an individual Qantas Club membership held by an Australian resident. Only one joining fee waiver, and one membership fee discount per year, are available per cardholder. Qantas Club membership is subject to approval by Qantas and to the terms and conditions of The Qantas Club, available at qantas.com/qantasclub.

    You are mistaken.

two complimentary Qantas Club lounge invitations

i think you didnt read it properly because you were so excited to post a bargain?

I think you didn't read it properly because you were too quick to criticise.

Clearly stated in the fine print:
Only one joining fee waiver, and one membership fee discount per year, are available per cardholder. Qantas Club membership is subject to approval by Qantas and to the terms and conditions of The Qantas Club

So my reading concurs with the OP - there's the additional benefit of the joining fee waiver and the one off discount for the first year's membership.

May already have been in other banks card offers but not noted - so am off to check the fine print on my cards (don't have ANZ).

Did you read the bit about the joining fee waiver for Qantas Club?

  • 2 invites to qantas club per year, am i right? is it the same deal running for a bit time now?

  • +1

No reading what it says this appears to be in addition to the two qantas club lounge invitations

  • +2

I also read the fine print and agree with you.

Now for someone to try buy it and see if its waived haha

Doesn't look to be free, just no join fee and reduced first year fee:
"$475 saving in the first year is based upon a joining fee waiver and a discount to the standard one-year individual membership rate"

Lounge to wait in for flights, quicker queues, more luggage allowance flying overseas etc…

      • -4

Qantas club membership doesn't give you a greater luggage allowance, its your status that determines luggage allowance.

        • +5

Yes it does. Essentially gives you the same allowance as a Silver FF.

        • @kirky1: You get extra luggage allowance
In particular very handy if your lugging back a 8 inch SCT telescope from the US

        • @unifex: thnKS for that, you learn something new everyday ;)

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: Your welcome :)

Anz just dropped their amex card so its really hard to accumulate the points to make the deal worth it.

    • +4

card-hopping was the only real option there ever was for any appreciable point accumulation anyway

    • Went with ANZ Breakfree for our home loan due to their dual QFF card offering to be used for daily expenses. Over the past couple of years, they've slowly been lowering the benefits of it by point capping and now not only lowering the $:point ratio, but also dropping Amex.

  • Thanks for getting me to know it exists. Mother travels many times a year so this might actually be something worth considering - with this deal or not.

and you can use it with jetstar flights (except at Melb where they're moved Jetstar several terminals away and you have to go back out & do the security checks again).

      • That's messed up.

  • meh… the QC membership discount has been a "deal" for many years

gave up on QC years ago - felt out of place coz not wearing high vis
