The international Watch AFL service has been taken over by Fox Footy, this means that the coverage that you get is identical to that of Foxtel (the live stream is a simulcast of the fox footy channel). The service broadcasts every match live, includes instant replay (you can rewind the live stream by hours and the service asks you whether you want to play the match from the start or live when you press play), every game on demand and all fox footy shows like on the couch and AFL 360. Broadcasts are HD, 5.4MB/s at the highest quality. Also works with Chromecast. Only catch is that it isn't technically available to Australia, however, this can be circumvented by using a service like Getflix, which currently has a lifetime pass on sale. To use the service on Chromecast, set the DNS on your router and use static routes to block Google DNS.

Works great if you are just using it on your phone, but once you put it on your TV it looks terrible.
I just use the Crownbet app.
It uses the same stream as live pass and has the same problems
@realfancyman: Yeah but I haven't given Telstra any money since about 5 years ago so I've got that going for me which is nice.
Comment retracted as I use the free afl live pass from telstra through Kodi.
No deal… this is the normal price, and it can be had for as little as $160 via a Geelong membership which includes a $50 voucher for the cats shop. Most other clubs also have a membership that is cheaper and includes a watchAFL global pass.

Wish I'd known that before I already paid :(
should I edit the deal to the geelong membership?I posted this on bigfooty some time back. You can get it even cheaper ($150) if you're willing to get a Freo membership… but that's likely to tear the fabric of your soul.
https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/afl-live-pass-what-a-…So for anyone looking to subscribe to the WatchAFL pass, it looks to be way cheaper to get it via a club membership. Fox are charging €149 or £149 or $149USD or $189AUD.
The Fox Sports pass is annual, 365 days. I guess the club pass voucher ends on 1st November (it was on the Port membership site, and I recall the Lions pass last year's was only 6 months). If you need a summer footy fix, then buying the pass direct could be the better option.
If you just want the pass and don't give a crap for the club, here's the cost each club is charging for the watchAFL membership. It is worth taking a look at the additional stuff they throw in with the membership. Carlton for example offer 2 general admission tickets, Geelong offer a $50 voucher for the Cats Shop.
Adelaide Crows: $155
Brisbane Lions: $170
Carlton: $170
Collingwood: $175
Essendon: $155
Fremantle: $150
Gold Coast Suns: $168
Geelong Cats: $160
GWS Giants: $158
Hawthorn: $179
Melbourne: $215
North Melbourne: $185
Port Adelaide: $165
Richmond: $170
St Kilda: $170
Sydney Swans: $205
Western Bulldogs: $185
West Coast Eagles: $170
Is it better than AFL live?
https://subscription.afl.com.au/
$90 for the season. That service is for your phone or tablet only, and if you manage to get in on your tv it looks terrible
Regular season is 5 months long (finals are all on free-to-air anyway).
Foxtel Play is $39 pm with the AFL channel (and 40 other channels)
Plus they are offering one month free at the moment.(5 - 1) x 39 = $156
No need for geo unblocking, but higher quality image if using Telstra TV device.
Is this the cheapest way to watch AFL this season (at a TV quality resolution?)
TTV is 720P
Telstra TV is 1080p, but the quality for AFL matches is still poor regardless of resolution
Do you have a link to substantiate that claim?
Apparently its not even HD on TTV at the moment https://community.foxtel.com.au/t5/Foxtel-Play/What-happened…
@noise36: I am talking directly from personal experience. You can set the resolution of the Roku/Telstra TV in the settings and it does not change. The picture quality of the match was pretty bad and I tried dropping it down to 720p (in the settings, then start the stream again) to see if it made a difference but it didn't. The video source looked more like 240p (or worse) if I had to guess.
No.
I tried it on Telstra TV for an AFL Womens match and the Stream quality was dreadful, and no full match replays to be had.
Telstra/Foxtel have got a long way to go if they are to ever take IPTV seriously.
But with this you get 24/7 Foxfooty channel and on demand match replays, and pause/rewing live matches.
Plus I'd assume most people savvy enough to be thinking about how to get by without foxtel probably already have a VPN.The club memberships packages are a great deal.
Here here is the info on Reddit about the various streaming options.
That site is quite outdated, quite a bit of incorrect information
I pay $24.95 a month for foxtel HD.
And cancel from October to Feb.Please link the deal in which you can get Foxtel with Sports and HD for $24.95
What borrowing you parents Foxtel on an extra box?
Yeah I called today to cancel my Foxtel play and have a whinge hoping I could get cheap sports package (hoping for HD),but the chick said $55 for SD is as low as they can go.
I had it free for 5 months last year (3 months HD, 2 months SD) and the quality is shit without the HD package, I neeeeed footy but (profanity) paying $55 for SD. Watchafl it is.
I do not have foxtel or Telstra so I just use my CrownBet app to stream my games. It is not full tv resolution quality etc but it is enough for me.
Also, if you are a new registration, you will receive $50 in crown points (which you can cash out immediately). To be honest, the CrownBet specials are not bad as well and so I do end up doing the odd bet but only when they offer something like $1 per point your team wins by sort of thing. The round 1 Richmond game was particularly good for me with the 43 point margin.
Otherwise I don't bet. 😄
Don't forget the potentially FREE solution.
