Well this was a shitty way to find out, oof

      Same here. OzBargain obituaries section?

I'll bring a 600ml Pepsi Max from my KFC survey that I absolutely did properly and didn't just keep hitting the next button for 15 seconds to the funeral.

Switch 2 was announced overnight too.

      • -1

Maybe RRP $899 to keep switch 1 sales alive.
Just happy i managed to find a cheap unpatched switch in excellent condition physically and battery still excellent

        • I'm very interested in the price too. I don't think they could get away with more than 600 but I reckon 600 might be a bit more than Average Joe is willing to spend too.

Turned mine on for the first time in nearly a year the other day to AFK XP on Fortnite for the missus. Absolutely adored the Switch the first few years but it's just so far behind I can't even bother, like Fortnite even, I used to win matches regularly on Switch, it's so laggy and downright ugly for the last few years you're lucky to make top 5.

@TheDukeOfNukem: If sony and xbox can get away with $800+ launch prices /RRP, switch can easily.

The fanboys will buy it even at $1000

They may even limit supply and release in batches like sony initially did with the ps5

            • @easternculture:

The fanboys will buy it even at $1000

Hardcore nintendo fanboys and scalpers yes..

but nowadays there is so many portable gaming pc choices and more new ones releasing each year
that makes it less of a must have item unlike when the original switch first came out…

Also knowing how nintendo operates, LCD model released now will then get an OLED model later
              so
do you want to get a LCD model now and know that a OLED will get released later down the line..

Wished nintendo would have just made the switch 2 OLED since most people already know that is the best looking model
so to go back LCD is crap

Only potential reason why you would get a day 1 switch 2 is potential for it having an unpatchable exploit

        • Why is unpatched considered desirable?

      • +4

That one I caught. Went to bed about quarter past midnight, checked OzB and IGN out of habit and saw it.

Shame about the name, New Super Nintendo Switch U Deluxe had such a good ring to it.

        • I wanted it to be called Super Nintendo Switch

        • I just read this and remembered Ralph saying "Super Nintendo Chalmers" :D

      • +2

Switch 2 was announced overnight too.

what this got to do with David Lynch or Twin peaks?

        • It was the two big things blowing up on my newsfeed.

          • @Caped Baldy: yeah but why post in a post called

"Keep your eye on the donut, not on the hole."

    • +1

"Keep your eye on the donut, not on the hole."

Quote doesn't really make sense when watching Lynch movie or TV show
which feels more like he is showing you/putting you in the hole (ie void/unknown) rather than the seeing and understanding the donut.

if donut = what is shown on screen/content in the movie/tv show
      and hole = void/unknown
then if you focus on the donut, it would not make any sense in a lot of his movies..

      • Stop asking questions, consume content.

      • He put you in the hole but by being in the hole you need to look around to see the donut.

        It's cosmic.

        • He put you in the hole but by being in the hole you need to look around to see the donut.

What are you talking about man?

Now you are trying sound like lynch..

So sad. I know what I'll be binge watching next few weeks. I have boxes set blu ray of all 3 seasons Twin Peaks. Plus pretty much everything else he did.

    • +1

he hated the Dune that he made, but I think that's the best Dune ever made

      • Holds up well. More details and longer explanations than current dune.

Didn't know he'd passed away till this post. RIP!

Does anyone else remember the Sesame Street version called Twin Beaks where everyone in the town had two beaks, or was it some weird dream

    GOAT show

Watches a few episides and no sign of a single goat

I think the goat was in the pot.

    • As you can see nowadays anything can be posted as bargain. "Free air if you walk to the crossroad".

      • +2

Tbh I was motivated to post this because a true genius and visionary died. Still, being able to watch one of the best shows ever made for free is a bargain imo. Unfortunately all of his films appear to only be on paid services

Went to find more on this on google news. Surprised to find no mention of David Lynch on any big news outlet at least in my google news feed.

Guess ozb may become my source of news too.

The news is fairly prominent on the news sites I visit

    • Right up the on The Oz.

  • Was Lynch a better filmmaker than Kubrick, Visconti, or Godard?

    • Personally I think so, which is why I wrote what I wrote

    • Was Lynch a better filmmaker than Kubrick, Visconti, or Godard?

"Better filmmaker" is a subjective opinion and depends on how you define it..
but if it was define as
      - iconic movies that are now considered classics and part of movie history
      - contains many memorable scenes / lines that are often repeated or parody in many other movies / TV shows
      - widely known and seen by many people around the world
      - able make many different genres of movies..
      - studied in film school or discussed in different medium
      - rewatchable or want to rewatch
      - highly rated

then I think Kubrick is better filmmaker since his movies are more iconic / classics, have been more studied/discussed
and have more memorable scenes/lines that are part of movie history and been parody in many other TV/movies, highly rated etc..

Kubrick also have done many different genres..

Kubrick's movies are also very rewatchable.

Kubrick is also often ranked very high (top 1) amongst directors of all time or of that generation of directors in many rankings…

David Lynch movies are also varied in terms being iconic/classics
but I don't think we would desire to rewatch as often as a kubrick film
due to the movies being quite eerie, dark and gives you a creepy mood after watching one of his movies..

Watching a David Lynch movie is like what happens when you wake up from a creepy/weird dream..
You try to remember and make sense of the different weird things you just saw/dreamed and you now have a creepy mood for the rest of the day.

No doubt David Lynch is one of the big iconic directors among the iconic directors of that generation ie Kubrick, Scorcese, Spielberg, Coppola
but I don't think he would be above them..

What he will ultimately be remembered most for is Twin Peaks which is very iconic TV show and some iconic creepy/eerie movies

      ================================

Complete list of movies of each director
and you can see how many of those movies are consider iconic/classic, widely known or seen, highly rated, rewatchable etc..

      • I guess I have heard it said that Kubrick's favourite film was Eraserhead.

  • +1

Such a great show. My sister and I would ring each other after every episode aired, and discuss at length. What is the purpose of the dancing midget? What's up with the log lady? Just such a weird and wonderful show.

  • Unwatchable due to the amount of ads.

Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself.

    • damn, that's too bad. have to admit I haven't actually tried, I have it on DVD
