does getflix actually unblock netflix anymore?

    • +1

Nope. But works for everything else including Hulu

    • +1

Last night it was working. It does come and go though.. seems to work fairly well for a bunch of other services too.

      http://www.getflix.com.au/channels/overview

They have a free VPN service too.. I tried that briefly last night too and first impressions were it wasn't terrible.

    • +4

Not currently for devices, but works for in Browser.
They had a good run of uninterrupted device support for the past 6 months or so.

The fact they roll in a pretty decent VPN service still makes it a worthwhile service for me.
I also use it to access BBC iPlayer.

      • +1

Have you tried the free Opera VPN app? I prefer that over the TunnelBlick solution via Getflix and use it for certain European apps.

      • I also find netflix US works fine in browser and on PS4 as well but not for ipads or android devices.

    • +1

it does work but they don't guarantee the service like they do with the others (such as hulu etc.) so if it doesn't work there is nothing they can do about it.

    • yes it does for me.

    • +1

      Yes and no.

      Windows browser: Yes.
      Windows 10 Netflix app: Yes.
Android/Chromecast: Sometimes, it is quite infuriating.
      iOS: Don't know.
Console: I haven't tried on my consoles.

Their service offering is quite limited these days. US only. It was quite good when you could do US, Canada, Japan and the UK. That pretty much got you most content in the world.

They have an android app which is handy for switching regions.

    • +1

It was working for US Netflix for ages but just stopped a week or so ago via my Android box. It's meant to still work on computer browser though. Hoping they'll fix for everything else soon but maybe Netflix have outsmarted the unblockers again

    • I use Smart DNS, which i think is a sister company. Netflix US is working at the moment, but is on-off.

    • I don't know why everyone is going crazy over Netflix.

I'm using a US Cable TV account and I get access to HBO, Showtime, Starz, Comedy Central, ESPN, CBS All Access, History, Discovery, MTV, Disney basically whatever I want on Comcast Infinity, DirectTV or Optimum (which is pretty much everything including premium movie and tv series apps)

I can chop and change whenever I feel like it and access to the Cable TV account only cost me less than $90 and I've been using it for 1.5 years through my Roku in the bedroom and local apps on my android TV.

I don't even bother with Netflix anymore I just go direct to the channel that the show is on - I have so much access to so much content I don't think I could go through it all even if I had years of spare time.

      • Care to share what service you are with and how you signed up?

        • I found a guy on forums who is in a sharing syndicate.

          Send me a PM

        • I'm with Comcast Xfinity, DirectTV or Optimum

        • @Michegianni: Hi keen to learn how you access US cable TV account and how I can sign up. Many thanks for sharing. Snuggle

  • I signed up for a trial, but is it even worth it changing to the US library considering the Australian one has caught up to 75% of content numbers with over 1000 exclusive movies?

You get a lot more US TV shows but lose the Aus content/pay more/lose speed. I like the movies on the Australian store better and the Netflix exclusives are still there.

Only good thing about US store is rewatchable nostalgia like Futarama, Friends, Scrubs, Bobs Burgers, Family Guy, Malcolm. If you already have seen Breaking Bad then you've already seen it. But I don't really see anything amazing that warrants the switch in 2017.

It's good for rewatching a handful of old cartoons and sitcoms, not much else. But you also have that choice on the Australian store.

Someone convince me to buy this, lol. Tossing up whether spending this money is worth it. The above is convincing myself its not to save money, but am I wrong?

    • I bought it for watching US crunchyroll , check to see if there are any other channels you wanna watch from their channel list.

    • +4

For me, Getflix is still worth the $40 for lifetime membership, even though it doesn't work occasionally, and even though it's only USA now (it used to include a dozen countries, I really miss Canada, UK, Denmark and Mexico especially, some great stuff on those that's not on USA or Aus).

I switch between USA and Aus, and they each have good things that aren't available on the other. So I generally have something good to watch.

    • yeah its not for everyone man. I'm watching plenty of shows/movies that are exclusive to the US service, but you're right in that the Aus service is improving and this will only get better.

The included VPN seems to be fairly decent, so if you're a VPN user it could be worth on this alone.

There are a bunch of other services it works well for as well:

      http://www.getflix.com.au/channels/overview

Compared to the usual price of USD $39 per year, its a good deal if you find the services offered useful.

      • Currently I'm using PIA, have you had any experience with them? If so, how do they fair against the Getflix VPN?

        Thanks!

        • Not with PIA no. You should be able to sign up for a 14 day trial on the Getflix site, so give that a try and see how it goes.

        • @upper-d: Lol , already bought getflix for watching crunchyroll, just wanted to see if it can replace PIA as well when it runs out.

        • @ProjectZero: lol yeah cool bruh.

      • Just use a US Cable TV Account and install all the channels and watch shows directly.

Most of the accounts have access to premium content anyway - like Showtime Anytime, HBO, Starz etc which are better than Netflix and work every time.

It might cost $100 or so but it's a one off payment and I've been using mine for over a year now.

        • Just use a US Cable TV Account

So, one that works without VPN/Smart DNS..? Got a link?

        • @upper-d:

Still need a VPN - but I am just replying to the "It's not for everyone" in regard to people comparing content.

Most people who compare are comparing Netflix and Hulu - but once you have a US Cable TV account it gives you access to literally everything and there is such a ridiculous amount of content it doesn't compare anymore - and is totally worth getting VPN for.

        • @Michegianni:

but once you have a US Cable TV account

          link?

  • I find Stan is better for Tv and Netflix better for movies

The Expanse Season2. Only available US currently. Makes this offer tempting if I can get N**flix to work…

    • +4

You sold me and my partner by mentioning that excellent show. Sure, I could've just watched a pirated stream of it, but at least this way I'm back in the legal grey area in terms of watching overseas content!

    • +3

To clarify for anyone else who's interested in The Expanse: it's not available on Netflix US. They made a deal so it's only available on other channels in the USA such as Syfy/iTunes/Amazon Prime.
      http://www.syfy.com/theexpanse/where-to-watch

Luckily, The Expanse Season 1 is available on Australian Netflix though — and Season 2 is coming soon as well (no ETA confirmed yet).

Fantastic show — if anyone is interested in good "realistic" space sci-fi, I highly recommend this one.

It really annoys me that we can't purchase The Expanse on iTunes or Google Play here in Australia.

    • Is Expanse a Netflix dedicated show or does it normally play on a US channel?

  • +1

Boo Getflix, what's the point of a lifetime sub if they get blocked out and leave you up the creek.

  • +2

Bought lifetime a while ago now. Works great with Sling TV and use it to watch NRL on Livestream. Used the VPN for awhile before switching to PIA
Have got my money's worth no doubt

  • Is there a list of countries that Getflix have VPN servers?

  • +4

They should change their name to Getsomeflix

  • livestream works a treat , worth it alone for certain live sports only available on foxtel

  • Awesome deal. I use it everyday for Livestream and US Netflix works fine on all our Macs. US Netflix doesnt work on Apple TV however. So hook up your PC or Mac to a big TV and you should be sweet for US Netflix.

  • Thanks, got it :)

    • I have no use for my 10% off code (on a $50 purchase), so here it is:
      33e940w

NOTE: above code might be targeted and therefore might not work for you.

  • Any of getting around the Netflix block with getflix? I'm curfrently paying the monthly fee and it used to work for me (only on browser) and now even that's stopped as of yesterday. Have tried multiple DNS's from their list.

Whats some other good uses I can get out of it if I buy this lifetime membership since Netflix doesn't appear to be an option for me?

    • There's some good stuff on BBC, ITV and Channel 4 apps. I think they'll fix Netflix again soon, they have a pretty good success rate.

      • I guess if they keep actively trying to fix the Netflix us block that'll be worth it for me. Bought

    • Yeah there is - buy a US Cable TV account.

  • Edit

    • Replied above-
  • +1

Was this prior at USD$29? The current link is for $39.

Can anyone who saw the Post earlier comment on this difference, and if I am missing something for the USD$29 price.

    • Precisely what I was wondering

    • Yes looks like the price drop has expired so it back up to USD$39. Title updated

  • I'm confused. Is the $39 deal expired? Because it seems like It's still $39
