Thanks OP, just clicked on your link and accepted the offer. Last time I sold something was about 6 months ago.

  • +3

Thanks, I pressed Accept offer ► and logged into my eBay account and it was activated.

  • -6

Do we still get hit with PayPal fees? Otherwise it's not 100% free.

  • +4

    Still Paypal fees though.

    • +1

only around 2.5% though. useful for selling large items that require pick-up with cash in hand.

    • Yeah, plus we're still going to be slaughtered on postage costs

  • +1

Thanks! I used your link and got the offer! No email. Are you able to list >10 items and get no fees for the ones that sell? Or can you only list 10???

    • +1

Pay no Insertion Fees or Final Value Fees for the first ten items you list and make available for purchase in Auction-style or Fixed Price format on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period.

  • +5

Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

    • yeh me too…is there a work around?

  • +1

    worked for me

  • so whats the run down of costs ? guess i have a cuple of things i could try moving , any of the other costs would just make it pointless

i didnt get an email for this one ………

    • -1

You can work out the listing fees for this deal at http://thefeecalculator.com

      • +1

        Not accurate for PayPal Australia.

  • +5

Good deal, just sold something on eBay for the first time since ever and has no idea they pocketed 10%. Last time I sell something on eBay unless there is a promo like this on

    • +3

though based on my experience, most of the time selling on ebay returns way more than >10% more than selling via gumtree/facebook groups where its free

      • +2

I hate to admit it, but this is also true in my experience. You can usually get a decent amount for your goods on eBay, especially if you aren't in a rush to sell.

      • +2

Gumtree takes an extreme amount of patience (dealing with the lowballers and waiting for the right buyer). Ebay is perfect for expediting the sale.. and if its a highly sought item (eg. iPhone) I have had great experience with $1 starting auction!

        • same
if I'm selling something I usually just want to be rid of it or I've upgraded.

So low $ starting prices, small amount of effort in listing layout/details and letting bidding work out the value has not failed me yet (though only ~40+ sales history)

    • +3

I thought it was 10% plus 2.5% credit card funded PayPal payment (which is the usual nearly all the time, and you are forced to accept this payment method), PLUS the sum of those percentages on postage aswell. This effectively makes it 15.6% ($12.50) on an $80 item with $20 postage. You net $67.50 on an $80 item. So even if you compare a cash sale to claiming 10 or even 20% more fetched on eBay (questionable), looks like you still end up better off or the same with a cash sale.

      • -1

better off or the same with a cash sale

some pretty assumptive values there, but you're also assuming your cash sale posting (I assume somewhere like gumtree) would attract the same interest/price

If you're selling something that more than a couple of people want, the bidding process on ebay (plus peoples more likely 'trust' in things like paypal) in my experience, ending up netting way higher prices

        • +3

I'm responding to the comment above regarding fees. I quantitively show with proof that fees are indeed higher. Your responses are very subjective, "way higher prices", yet lack objective proof, and nor do you factor in any equations to justify your comparison.

Above, people refer to possiblity fetching greater than 10% more on eBay. So you may sell that item for $70 via classifieds etc, or hypothetically get roughly 15% more on eBay. However you would still have less in your pocket by selling it for $80 on eBay as I illustrated above.

@chyawala: If I could give more than one +vote for a reply you would get it

        • @chyawala: You are absolutely right! +

  • +5

I didn't get the email but I clicked on the link from the OP's deal and got the offer! Accepted!

    Thanks OP.

  • +1

    Sweet, thanks OP.

  • +2

aww, wish I got this. I've got some phones to sell.

    — edit oh wait, it actually worked on my account. Sweet!

    • Haha. I had it couple of months ago in my account which I never noticed. message was in my ebay inbox. I had to sell 2 items and realised it expired 2 days before posting the ad.

  • +1

awesome. tried listing something 10 minutes ago but had run out of free listings for this month.

worked for both my selling accounts.

  • +2

Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

    D:

  • This promotion is only available to you if you have received an invitation to participate in it directly from eBay via Facebook or email.

  • Clicked on the link and it said offer accepted.
Currently have a camera listed that should get 2k.
Will the promotion work on it even though it starts tomorrow.
Got a few more days before it finishes.

Maybe I'm better off removing the listing and list it again.

    • +6

You can check if it worked in My eBay: All Selling. Scroll down to the bottom and under the Promotional Offers banner it will say how many of the "It's FREE to list & sell 10 items this Jan!" offer has been used.

      • Thanks mate.

      • +1

Thanks mate! Following the link originally said I was not eligible. Went to "All selling" per your link and there was an option to activate the offer at the bottom of the page - which worked. Others who got the "not eligible" message should give this a go. I have never sold anything on eBay BTW, but timing is great for me as have a few things to sell atm.

    • If your able to accept the offer it will only work on items that you list to sell from the "20th (today)", if you have accepted & already have a item for sale from yesterday 19th Jan you will still be charged fees, so consider cancelling & relisting the item

      • +1

Haven't used any of the 10. So will end it and then relist it.

        Thanks for finding the deal.

  • +2

so how do i get a "direct invitation"? unable to get it otherwise

    • same here…couldnt activate via the link and dont have an email from ebay in regards to this

  • +1

Interesting, I didn't get an email but it accepted and shows up as active in the my eBay section. Now to find some big things to sell.

  • +1

Awesoome, Worked for me and Ive sold ~15 things over the last 3 months. Nothing this year however.

  • -1

this is rigged! i sold two items, one over 200 and that one didnt count towards this.

    • If your able to accept the offer it will only work on items that you list to sell from the "20th Jan (today)", if you have accepted & already have a item for sale from yesterday 19th Jan you will still be charged fees, so consider cancelling & relisting the item.

      • I got it awhile ago and yeah it was listed before the date but sold within the date guess that donst count =/

  • never sold a thing, yet not avaliable

  • "For the avoidance of doubt, you will not be eligible to participate in the promotion if it appears on your Facebook newsfeed only because the person who received the promotion liked and/ or shared it. • +1

Wondering if it applies to the item that i have already listed.

    • +1

Probably not .. but it should do if you cancel and relist.

  • +1

Thanks OP, didn't get an email but I was able to click your link and sign up to the offer!

  • Sold an item last week and currently selling an item right now but it still let me accept the offer. Not sure if it'll work but sweet if 8t does.

  • +5

They're only doing this because afterwards they're going to jack up the final value fee.

  • +1

Sweet, didn't get the email but it activated via the link.

  • I just listed last night! Grrrhh

    • If your able to accept the offer it will only work on items that you list to sell from the "20th (today)", if you have accepted & already have a item for sale from yesterday 19th Jan you will still be charged fees, so consider cancelling & relisting the item

      • +2

Good advice! I have cancelled and relisted my item (after accepting the offer, of course). Thanks

  • exactly 24 hours too late for me sold something yesterday

  • +1

    big thanks OP

  • Do we have to relist anything we already have up, or does it work for anything sold from this point?

    • If your able to accept the offer it will only work on items that you list to sell from the "20th (today)", if you have accepted & already have a item for sale from yesterday 19th Jan you will still be charged fees, so consider cancelling & relisting the item

  • Didn't let me accept the offer, maybe I'm too active on eBay.

    • Same goes for me… oh well I wont be listing anything then.

      • +1

        That'll teach them

  • +1

nice offer op, i didnt get the offer but i havent sold anything in months. not sure why i didnt qualify. I definitely buy lots of junk on ebay

  • +1

    perfect timing, thanks OP!

  • +1

Perfect, I was planning to sell a few things I rarely use and I do not need.

    • +1

      Eneloops or earbuds??

      • +1

Good suggestions. But I will keep my 50+ eneloops as they were made in Japan by Sanyo. Only 8 eneloops are still in sealed packaging and the rest are being used frequently :)

  • I saw the offer on my account.

I click get offer but it keeps redirecting me to my ebay summary page and the offer still didnt active??

    • Try contacting eBay via chat/phone see if they can apply it manually

  • +1

Received no invitation or have seen no offer in my account but was successful in accepting the offer using the link above.

  • "Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only."

  • Sorry if it's already been asked, but do we get to re-list our items three times for free too in case they don't sell in the first attempt?

    • +1

Only if it gets relisted before 19th Feb. Also, the relisting will count towards your 10 free listings.

  • did everyone who could accept the offer sell things on ebay in the last few months or so?

    • Yes, sold around 8 items throughout Dec and Jan.

    • +1

no, never sold an item before

    • Yes, I have sold about 10 items in the last month and accepted the offer through the above link and it worked for me. I had already used up my 40 free listings for the month

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

Got a Alienware laptop that I've been to lazy to post!

  • Boo eBay! That's 2 from 2 I apparently haven't qualified for now, plus numerous others in the past. Good deal though, those fees can sting a little and definitely need to be accounted for.

    • Hmm, on that note. Just scrolled to the bottom of my eBay seller dashboard and have the following sitting under my promotions tab.

      eBay promotional offers Australia

      Start End Used / Left
Free Fixed Price & Auction Listings - List Fixed Price or Auction for FREE every month.
      (ebay.com.au)

      Start/Finish - Jan 1, 2017 at 12:00am AEDT Feb 1, 2017 at 12:00am AEDT
      Used/Left - 0 / 40

Interesting. Doesn't describe the terms anywhere though - ie: nothing about final value fees. Hmm, anyone else see something similar?

      • +1

This is normal, every user gets 40 free listings/month

        • Yeah thanks for that, was just reading the terms myself. Purely just the listing costs, final value fees will still be charged.

Hmm, still wondering what dictates the conditions of who receives the offers and who doesn't. :(

  • +1

Worked even though i've never sold anything on my account?

*Received the email an hour ago

  • +1

Tried to accept the offer and wasn't eligible however after re clicking the offer I got the free 10 listings. You may need to try several times.

  • +1

The offer wasn't available for me yesterday. I tried again today and it worked!

  • +2

    As jackinthebeanstalk said above; https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/288413#comment-4375617,
this is sweetener to distract everybody from the fact that:
EBAY ARE INCREASING THEIR FINAL VALUE FEES , yet again
    .

    • Where is the source to this? I found this link but it is for stores only. Is there anything that will affect every day people?

  • Unfortunately, this promotional offer is not available to you.):(

  • +1

I sell about 1 item a year. And that happened to be one day before this promotion :(

  • anyone know if you list an item "good til cancelled" on a fixed priced listing, will it still be free of fees if it sells, say in march?

    • +1

I have been told (via the ebay chat) that no you can't list an item via "good till cancelled" but I can't see anything in the T&C that says that. It is a bit unclear if the item needs to be purchased within the time period to qualify. The T&C states the "item needs to be available for purchase by 23:59 (AEDT) on 19 February 2017 in order to qualify for the promotion". It does however say that if you relist an item outside the promotion period it won't qualify though.
