      • ebay chat is notoriously hopeless/intransigent and will tell you whatever they think saves their employer's money - they are the first port of call fob off'ers. And "available for purchase" means exactly that, ie. available for purchase - nothing to do with sale date.

      • I also wonder this, just sold something on a re-list. So it qualifies for time period, but was sold after auto-relist. Reckon I get fee free sale?

    • anyone know if you list an item "good til cancelled" on a fixed priced listing, will it still be free of fees if it sells, say in march?

The way I read it is that you need to have sold it by 19 February.

      • and that would be an unsupportable interpretation. Only needs to be listed by 19 Feb.

        • On rereading it, I think you may be correct.

Worked on my newer account, but didn't work on my old account. Neither have been used to sell much in the last year.

Just cancelled an auction I had going and relisted it with this deal.

Worked fine, in seller dashboard says I've used 1 off the 10.

Thanks again OP should save me quite a bit of cash.

Will list a couple of lenses I'd Benn thinking of getting rid off too.

  • Can anyone advise if an auction sale with a "buy it now" option is outside the terms of the offer, which states "Auction-style or Fixed Price format" ?

"Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only."

Great… the 4th invitation offer I am not allowed to get from eBay, advertised in OzBargain!! Seriously, constant buyers (and I sell too!) from eBay gets nothing!! Hate these corporate scums that doesn't reward constant, current members.

    • They're dangling a carrot in front of inactive members to try to get them to participate in selling. ebay just wants the extra traffic, there's no point giving the same rewards to people like power-sellers/

Be careful everyone, eBay is now a very dodgy company. I'm having huge issues with it at the moment. I've sold a couple of items to the US before Christmas and the buyer ended up being a scammer and claimed my item is not authentic. eBay sided with them and I lost over $1k of authentic goods (I bought them from the brand's shop myself, so I know, unfortunately it was a long time ago so I don't have the receipts anymore). Then this promotion came and I've listed some of my old furnitures and other things I wanted to get rid of while they're not charging me any fees. Sold a few of them and suddenly this morning I woke up to find eBay restricted my account without giving me a clear answer to why. It's unbelievable.

Finally after a year first time selling some random stuff. I hardly sell on eBay anymore the fees are just too high

  • Guys, what happens if your item is NOT sod before 19 February 2017 and gets relisted automatically?

Will you get the no final value fee discount after 19 February 2017?

    • Not sod? I think the item will feel better for it :P

    • -1

no, has to be sold by the 19th feb

    • +1

just needs to be listed & available by 19 Feb. Sale must be completed before listing concludes. Under this particular offer, re-listings are excluded.

      • Guess you right reading through the terms again: Items must be listed and available for purchase by 23:59 (AEDT) on 19 February 2017 in order to qualify for the promotion.

      • +1

The phone staff told me the opposite.
It's doesn't mean that that is correct either, just the opinion of the functionary I spoke to, but according to them, the sale must be completed before 19 Feb.

        • thats what I thought it was, guess its best if anyone plans to have the listing go over 19th feb, call ebay & double check

        • @King Tightarse, read my comment at the top of the page. They can tell you what they like (as they often do - in some cases as a result of incompetence & in other cases, plain deception) but the terms are clear & unambiguous. Try find anything in those terms that says the item must be SOLD by 19 Feb.

I get an error saying it is by invitation only, but then again I sell around 1k a week on eBay so they probably figure I don't need any further incentive…

This deal motivated me to advertise for local pickup a few heavy/ bulky items I've been meaning to clear out. I'd usually do that on Gumtree but thought I'd give eBay a go. Just a heads up to anyone interested - I don't recommend eBay for local pickup. Gumtree is much better for a number of reasons. It's pretty obvious in retrospect, but basically the end of an auction on eBay means nothing if the person doesn't contact you, pick up and pay. They've just given themselves an option to pick it up at their leisure - if they don't change their mind, find a better deal etc - while you seem obliged to give them at least 4 days to make contact and pay. After 36 hours one buyer had the decency to email that they'd made a mistake and didn't realise it was local pickup in a different state. Still waiting for the other to make contact - and they only registered their eBay account a week ago! Have put in an eBay cancellation request on both items - and listed on Gumtree instead - and have had a decent offer on one of the items hours after advertising. A third item, which I advertised first on eBay and a few days later on Gumtree, sold within hours of going up on Gumtree.

My experience is opposite - sick of time wasters and 'how cheap will you go' offers on Gumtree whereas eBay people have their rating to protect and don't go out of their way to screw you over. I have my profile set up so only users with positive feedback and certain number of completed transactions can bid on my items - gets rid of the time wasters who couldn't care less about their '0' rating.

      • Same.

I've always put a gumtree ad as well as an ebay listing. I've never successfully sold anything on gumtree because I only get inconceivably low ball offers.

      • Interesting feedback. Thanks. I'm a novice seller obviously. Didn't know about those settings. Found the instructions here (http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/sell/buyer-requirements.html) and applied them - although there doesn't seem to be an option for "X number of completed transactions". Will definitely use this next time.

  • Can I ask. If you list an item for 7 days for example, it doesn't sell, and it is auto relisted, is it disqualified? I had a similar offer a year or two ago, and the final fees were still waived no matter how often the listing rolled over.

    • Offers in the past were like that. This particular offer has added an exclusion wrt re-listings. See above, "Listings that automatically relist during the Promotion Period are not eligible for this promotion".
You could be technical and argue that if the automatic relisting occurs after the promotion period the condition doesn't apply - but I don't think you'd get far, even though technically correct.

      • I'm pretty sure auto listings were disabled for this promo (I had no auto listing option).

  • Odd, I only just received this email invitation from eBay today, yet when I follow the link it says "Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only."
    Anyone else?

Thanks OP. Worked for me. :)

  • I'm posting back here to inform that I got scammed during this promotion.

I was charged the final fees after I asked customer support to debit back final fees they charged me for different listings (more recent) that a buyer bought twice then cancelled.

They charged me for two other listings from Jan 31st when this promotion was valid AND didn't give me back what they charged from the two listings that were cancelled recently.

The customer representative blamed me for not being 'aware of the facts' about the promotion?? I am down AU $147.25 now due to this reason and still received no help for my query.

  • I signed up this offer and I still get charged for Final Value fee…for Feb items sold during promotion period

Call them they say its a glitch. Beaware Ozbargainers, check your eBay invoices. Even its was less than $4 I won't pay Feebay a cent
