Works also for lapsed members. My previous membership expired literally only a week ago.

    • Thats good to know. Thanks

    • Yeah, I can confirm, just did that to double check and returned here to post it but I guess you beat me to it :)

    • Likewise, great news.

    • +4

Same, mine expired on Monday.. Tuesday they were trying to get me to re-join at $4 p/m lol

Now $20, I will likely do it again… but wonder if the $12 deal will come back?

Same as mine! Be mindful, they don't notifiy you in advance when your membership is expiring and auto-renewing.

I just realised mine expired because i got an email from onepass saying that they couldn't automatically renew my subscription because my credit card expired, which literally saved me from paying full price.

      • This - I just got slugged the $40 renewal the other day and the chat support are no help trying to resolve it, just get left on read with no responses.

      • Its handy to keep a few debit cards around and keep the cards empty or lock the cards for this type of purpose. I am unsure what would happen if payment failed though.

  • -8

Just a heads up, they took full payment from me for a renewal with no warning whatsoever.

    • I think you need to cancel it before the renewal data. i cancelled it last week before the auto renewal and now its showing $20

      • +1

how can you even cancel? cant see option under manage membership

        • +2

I had the same issue, go to update your payment details and the cancel option is there

    • +15

      Of course they did.

'$40 per year thereafter or until cancelled'…

The vast majority of companies are able to send automated reminders, it's hardly rocket surgery.

        • -3

It's in the terms and conditions. More than fair.

          • +1

@dongltron: No doubt you read the fine print of all your T&Cs and can remember every subscription renewal date /s. I usually remove payment details to ensure I'm not caught, esp where no option is provided to "untick" auto renewal. It's essentially a rort to take advantage of unaware consumers. There's no technical reason why an automated reminder can't be provided.

            • -3

@Igaf: You clicked 'I accept'. As far as they're concerned, you understand completely. Sure, it'd be nice for them to provide a reminder, but you are fully expected to take note of that as per Terms and Conditions. It's completely legal and completely acceptable.

'But nobody reads them, they know that!'

Of course they do. That's not their fault. That's yours.

              • +1

@dongltron: Completely acceptable to you, certainly not to me. Thankfully we have more consumer oriented people keeping a lid on rorts.

                • -3

@Igaf: Eh, I'd call myself reasonability-oriented, but oh well.

    • +1

They did this to me as well, however as long as you notify them within 24 hours of being charged, and you don't make any purchases within those 24 hours, then you should be able to get a refund.

It took a couple of goes in customer support chat, but I eventually got my refund.

I'd also recommend setting a calendar invite to cancel your subscription near the end of next year. Or you can just cancel it now and it won't auto-renew next time.

      • and you don't make any purchases within those 24 hours, then you should be able to get a refund.

I tried they didn't give me refund, may be over 24 hours.

      • +3

Yes it's fine to cancel in advance. Mine is cancelled but will keep running till Jan.

        • Were you able to renew with it cancelled? Same boat

          • @Pootie Tang: Well I haven't tried yet.. was going to just use a new email address on 1 Dec

            • @Horacio: Say less 👀

            • +1

@Horacio: well luckily you were right, so no point making reminders and blah blah. just cancel and it remains active but wont auto renew

              • @Phorest Grump: Yeah. I wish every mob would allow this. Some of them are sneaky and autorenew over a month in advance of expiry!

    • +10

The changes to Section 25 of the Australian Consumer Law in November 2023 imposed significant penalties for “unfair contract terms”. This explicitly includes automatic renewals in many cases (the key test is whether there was transparency from the provider around the renewal).

Legal advice we’ve had is that “transparency” entails sending a reminder and, to be safe, allowing the customer to cancel if they haven’t used the service post-renewal.

If you believe the renewal wasn’t transparent, you should be able to get a refund if you haven’t used the service since renewal. Fines are hefty if they don’t comply.

There are moves afoot to further beef up the consumer protections to make this even more explicit, but for now, you’d certainly have a case for a refund.

      • +1

I've just gone through my emails and SMS messages and definitely did not receive any notification of the renewal. Even tje sign up email did not make mention of am automatic renewal.
Going to chat with them shortly.

        Thanks

      • -2

It was very explicit. Explicitly written in the terms you should have read!

    • +3

My subscription lapsed. I renewed now with this deal and immediately cancelled it. So my subscription will be cancelled on 1st November 2025, no more auto renewal

    • +2

I always cancel as soon as I sign up to avoid this.

    • I really don't understand why everyone has downvoted your comment - notification that your account will be renewed isn't a big ask?!?

  • +2

Its showing for existing members as well. I went to renew and showing $20

    • hmm not for me. is there a promo code you added?

      • No promo. But mine got expired so may be they offered

        • +1

fair enough. i just cancelled (expires in a week) and ill try to renew see if it works after then

    • +1

yeah not for me either, however it is half price to use flybuy points to sub.

  • +2

Can i cancel now then sign up again too get this?

    • +1

      want to know as well

    • You be the guinea pig and try it first! :P

      • +9

        ok, I guinea pigged!!

I cancelled a while ago but subscription is still valid for a few months- couldn't renew using this deal.

        • +2

          Bummer, thanks piggy

        • Wait 24h then check again, otherwise those deals always pop up here and there

        • But you can get the $20 deal as a "new user" - has anyone tried to see if it works with just a new email address?

        • +1

You have to wait out the time and let the end date lapse first.

so, you'd be hoping a similar offer comes up next year.

i've been through this & mine just ended on 28th Oct finally, now I can see this $20 offer, just like comments at the start.

It will work as long as your end date coincides with another offer

all benefits still apply until the end date.

    • +5

I just went to cancel, then got a message "Get $20 off for one year if you stay" 😎

      • +1

        same

      • +3

@l o l Did that earlier today just so it wouldn't auto-renew and it never offered me anything 🙁

        "cancelling
        We've cancelled your membership"

      • Didn't get this offer. I just cancel before auto renewal. I think it's targeted

  • +2

    Still using my $12 one

    • Still using my $12 one

      Missed that promo.

    • +1

haha, was just looking at that. I wonder if the $12 one will return for Black Friday maybe (TA?) or is $20 the new $12?

      • +2

Last year I bought with BlackFriday deal for $20

    • Mine literally just renewed at the $12 last month. It's tempting to try again with this.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I have been waiting for this deal as I lapsed a couple weeks ago.

  • My OnePass was recently cancelled and I was able to renew at $20. Thanks.

  • sweet been waiting for this one after mine lapsed a few months ago

  • Sweet, my sub lapsed about two weeks ago

  • Mine will end in Jan 2025. I cancelled my subscription (no auto renew), will this work if I sign up?

    • +4

Probably not. I tried that the last time there was this offer (2 months left on the sub) and it wouldn't let me resubscribe until the subscription actually expired.

      • Thanks - well, it's cancelled now, nothing I can do except wait!

        • Same on my end… Oh well

  • +1

FYI mine was due to expire in 18 days - went through cancellation and was prompted for the $20 off to stay - accepted

    Next payment

    Amount:

    $20

    Date:

    19 November 2024

    • +4

I went to cancel and they just canceled mine….

      • +5

Exact same happened to me last time. People said just go to cancel and you will be offered $12 renewal. Nope, not even an "Are you sure?". Just straight away cancelled and no way to even renew until my membership officially expired.

        • +2

Same, got shafted last time too

        • Hard not to take it personally: "You want to go? No! Please don't go, stay! Here, how about only $12! Yay! You're staying! you turn up Huh? Oh you want go? Yeah, ok, bye, whatever."

  • +2

I have this subscription and I know what you can use it on but just curious about some real world examples of its benefit? Like I use amazon prime nearly weekly. But this haven’t used it once?

    • +4

I essentially just use Catch instead of Amazon. Tbh even if you were only to use it on say Kmart, you’ve made your money back in two purchases. Postage is generally $13 for a single item.

    • +8

Bunnings and Kmart, when you need something but it's not worth going all the way there for it. I use it several times a month, means I never need to step inside a mall

      • +2

Free shipping for Bunnings has been great after I busted my back

        • +1

I love that I don't have to hunt around and drive to different ends of the city to find sale items at Bunnings, they just arrive at my doorstep

    • +4

some popular online shops provide free shipping with onepass - Catch, KMart, Taget, Bunnings, Officeworks
      that's it really

  • -3

I don't think I've gotten $20 of value yet. I think I've done one free delivery. I bought it thinking I'd get a catch coupon that I could use for a Nintendo Game but so far no joy. Won't be renewing.

If you're the sort of person that lives in a significant urban area says they've had dozens of packages delivered and it's great, well.. maybe rethink your habits?

    • I got $10 voucher when I linked Onepass to Catch

      • I'm linked, but didn't. Maybe I cancelled my renewal too soon?

      • +1

Voucher? Can you elaborate on the promo?

  • Thanks OP, had been waiting for a deal after running out a couple of weeks ago. Renewed at 20 bucks

  • Mine expired last week. Renewed again. Thanks OP

  • Thanks OP mine finished two days ago:)

  • Thanks OP. Have been waiting for this since mine expired.

  • Noice. Gonna order than 1 pencil now.

  • Thanks OP. Rejoined.

  • Thanks op. Been a long 6 weeks without my onepass.

Cancelled prime. Amazon can get (profanity) adding ads to prime video.

And I'm never gonna pay full price for onepass wesfarmers so keep it up

  • not sure why but can't change to monthly or payment method and currently in annual plan

    anyone have the same issue?

    • The only way to actually cancel membership I can find is to call them, which is pretty annoying
