Techniice Signature Series Icebox 60L - $215

120

Techniice Signature Series Icebox 60L - White - World's No.1 Ice Keeper

Have been looking at these for a while, normally $289 but just noticed currently marked as $215. Also noted some of the other item prices are lower e.g. 45l was ~$219, now $175.

Had also seen on Friday afternoons there was a popup for 5% off if ordered before 6pm but decided this deal was better and to jump on it.

    Looks good
Hope they perform better than the base range
    Don't believe their advertorials
If you freeze 10lt containers into block ice, then maybe you will get a few days out of them before having to buy more ice
Just buy an Engel or luna
Cheaper in the long run and by the time you fill a big esky with ice you haven't that much room left anyway
Also lighter to lift once you've got the deep cycle in and solar on d roof
    No more soggy food either

    • Read the instructions, pre cool and use the techni ice sheets and you'll get days worth of ice out of them even on warmer days.

Yea mate, have worked out precooling, but on a HOT day they ain't all that
I could salt up my ice but it wouldn't make up for the lack of insulation
They are cheap for a reason
Good for bringing the shopping home but so's a silver lined bag

        • These are bulky for a reason. The insulation is thicker than pretty much every portable fridge on the market.

Both have their uses. For someone not wanting to invest thousands in a fridge, upgraded battery, charger, solar panels, wiring etc it's a decent alternative.

@Possumbly: of course but, I doubt this is any thicker than their normal eskys, just a more dense layer of foam, injected under higher pressure

@Beach Bum: you'd be wrong then BB. There's no lack of insulation in these. The Signature series boxes are double the thickness of the standard box.

Don't see your point in any case. If the insulation is denser that would suggest it's likely to perform better.

I have a 40l Waeco and a 45l Signature. Both do their jobs admirably.

@Possumbly: same crappy insulation, but just twice as much
          I see, I see
          And you own a wacko
          Makes sense

        • @Beach Bum: Your clearly know nothing about either product. Opinionated ignorance, the bane of modern society.

        • @Possumbly: how so?
          I own three tecnice eskys
All I was pointing out is their marketing is clearly exaggerating.
But they make good storage boxes as you can get them for next to nothing secondhand
And you only have to talk to a refrigeration mech to be told stay away from waecos
          Your free to believe whatever

        • @Beach Bum: Do you own the signature box or are you applying the same guesswork evident in all your comments? Seems you're pretty much on your own on this thread.

Wrt Waeco fridges you've been sucked in by internet bs. Waeco would be one of if not THE the biggest selling fridge on the market. They're like most other fridges - simple mechanics and electronics. About the only issue some of them have had involved a $20 switch. Mine has given zero problems in well over a decade. Are there better portables on the market? Undoubtedly - at double the price. Do you need a Rolls Royce when a Holden will do pretty much the same job? 99% of the time the answer is clearly no. But as the saying goes there's a sucker born every minute who thinks everything they read on the internet is fact.

        • @Possumbly: no I don't own a signature box.
Should have been easy to deduce from my first post.
So how are their advertised claims of 8-25 days chilling without refilling with ice?
Have you proven this claim yourself or just defending your purchase?

        • @Beach Bum: it WAS easy to deduce, just needed you to confirm that you not only didn't have one to base your comments on but that you couldn't be bothered checking the specs before you gave us your opinion on the insulation abilities. The claim is 8-25 days "ice rated", which is presumably some standard test accepted by the industry as other reputable iceboxes make claims of 10 days for example. Anyone thinking this would be achievable with an icebox 50/50 filled with bagged ice and perishables, opened a handful of times a day under "average" Australian conditions should contact me re the sale of real estate on Mars. I can offer excellent terms.

        • @Possumbly: whatever you reckon DH

        • @Beach Bum: your quick wit is devastating. Wasted on an internet forum.

      • I've got an older version of this - https://www.techniice.com/ice-boxes/signature-series/70l-sig…

We used it on a trip from Melbourne to Darwin and back mainly for drinks. It was really good, ice would last around 2 days depending on the heat. No way it would have lasted up to 7 days even though we did the whole pre cooling thing before we left.

Edit: also picked it up on eBay for $71 (auction). Seems they still sell a few on there.

    • I reckon your expectations might be a little high, these things are awesome but they're just an esky.

I've done festivals in the middle of summer with it sitting in the hot sun all day, and regularly removing/topping up drinks. 8-9 days later it was still cold, just off a couple of their sheets sitting on top of everything, and 2-3 frozen 2l bottles of water.

  • I bought one of these a few months back to use in the boot shopping, and jeez it keeps things cold. Items seem colder than when I put them in. I use 4 Tech Ice shhets, 2 on the bottom 2 on top. The thickness of the box is crazy, nothing like the old esky or engels. I also have a Waeco fridge, but this is easier.

    cheers

  • These, along with their ice packs are such a great combination and we keep stuff cold for days in ours.
Ice melts and stuff gets wet. Not with the ice sheets, which are resusable over and over again.
Had ours for about 3 years and the box and sheets are all going strong.

I recommend them and take some time to check them out if you think you could use them. A very worth while purchase for us.
